It was June 24th, 2026, and I got up bright and early to await the release of Deltarune Chapter Five.
It was still 6 in the morning, and the fifth chapter officially released at 2 hours later, and 8 in the morning, so I took the time to replay the ending of Chapter 4 to refresh my ending a bit more.
After using the bathroom, I got out of my bed and desperately crawled to my computer setup with every ounce of strength my body would lend me.
Then I got onto my gamer chair to boot my pirated copy of the game. After trying to load a save file I haven't played, I downloaded a fully completed file off of the dark web. The username of the one providing the file was named "Toby Fox"
"What a jackass" I scoffed lazily while putting the file in the Saves folder. Though when I put it in… I swear I could see an ugly, deformed, twisted face when the screen went black while loading. Then after that, words saying "deltarune" appeared on my screen. I was scared, but kept playing.
Hopefully, the game being named deltarune.exe did not bring me bad luck…
Wait a minute… what appeared before me was Deltarune Chapter 5! I checked the time on my computer, it said 6:30 am, there's no way… there's no way…
After trying my hardest to calm myself down, I found it in me to press play on Chapter 5. The jingle that played when entering the part was… high pitched, odd. Things were taking a Snowgrave Route right now.
The opening cutscene was absolutely bone chilling.
Kris, or should I say… Chara. Yes, the name Chara felt more right for them. They crawled in through their bedroom window, splatting on the ground briefly before trudging their way to a covered cage with a splattered red stain.
The blood next to the cage was… too real. It felt too real to be in a video game. I mentally fought back rivers of tears as Kris uncovered the cage to reveal THE SOUL.
I screamed and thrashed in my seat as Kris grabbed the soul with an iron deficient grip. I could FEEL it. It felt as if my heart was being ripped out of my chest. Ironic, isn't it? Considering Kris is doing the exact opposite as I speak, shoving it into his chest.
"God damned phantom pain…" I growled out.
When when he did, I let out a blood curdling yell as my big, hairy belly jiggled, simulating the weight of my guilt as I further played this cursed game.
I was on the ground, panting, a clear liquid exiting my mouth as I wheezed and huffed. I carelessly grabbed my open bottle of Doctor Pepper Cream Soda, spilling it all over my body and the yellowed carpet.
I felt as if I needed a break. There was… one other way to quench my thirst.
I nearly rolled myself into the bathroom of my house and turned on the faucet. It was dusty, unused for only God knows how long. I turned the handle and what came pouring out could only be described as water. I submerged my face in the sink, like a newborn baby being baptized of future sins.
That was when resolve entered my mind. I had to finish the mysterious chapter that was given to me.
With new resolve in my mind, I sat my ass on the chair with a nearly out of breath gulp of air. That was when it dawned upon me like a violent meteor. I had just taken control of Kris now. I couldn't do this… I couldn't do this to myself. Creepypastas were supposed to be fiction, not reality!
I screamed my lungs out as I tried to escape Kris's house, wary of any sudden scares or deformed faces that could head my way.
Was this the fabled Weird Route everybody was talking about? Since I was the first to discover this, I thought to record it.
I dug through boxes under my bed and got the oldest camera I owned, and pressed record, holding it to the screen with shaky hands and heavy breaths.
I had gotten my hands on an official creepy pasta and I couldn't mess it up.
Then, it was just barley dawn. What is this place? Festival? Then when Kris got to his school, that is when I realized. I got bullied here, nearly 20 years ago. I couldn't even look at a school.
A grand new discovery was made. Every copy of Deltarune is personalized, or at least Toby Foxes copies were. I cried out in fear for the camera so I could really sell the fact I was scared.
Maybe if I download another save file, I'll get a different version?
I looked at the site I used. But it wasn't there. It was DMCA d by somebody named… Sebastian Wolff. Heh, it appears even the trickiest of tricksters have their own Joker.
I laughed to myself as my chair creaked. What if I made myself look like Kris so the personalization made me think I was them?
I rushed to my garage with a new goal in mind: impersonate Kris. Because after all, They are an avatar for the player.
I grabbed my slicked back hair and put it in front of my face, perfect. I grabbed my dad's green paint and stuck my hand inside to slather my torso, leaving a tanned line in the middle. This should be good enough.
I appeared in front of the camera and restarted the game, the camera now seeing my Kris like appearance.
"GASTER!!!" I yelled with determination in my voice. "SHOW ME THE DELTARUNE!!! SHOW ME!!! BECAUSE I, AM KRIS!"
The bastard must have been listening, since he summoned my father to my room with his special powers.
"Why the hell does it smell like-" he said as he opened my door. His jaw absolutely dropped as he saw my appearance. Maybe it was his mind trying to subconsciously break free of Gasters control.
He looked like he wanted to puke. He tried to argue with me "I-I-I don't even know he's done this he… fuck… he…"
Anger rose within me… "HIS PRONOUNS ARE THEY/THEM!!!" I cried out.
He slammed my door shut before he could get a word in and I heard the cursed words "DIANE, CALL THE MENTAL INSTITUTION!"
Dammit! The bastard must have turned my parents into goners! What would Kris do…?
That was when I remembered, the window. Kris hid from the player by going out of the window! I must do the same.
I opened up my window and felt the breeze. I was on the second floor, but Kris has been too, and WE, yes WE are Kris Deltarune, so I jumped.
The shin on my right foot shattered into an indescribable amount of pieces as I landed. And the pain was so indescribable, I passed out.
I write this to you now from a weird white room. Gaster is trying to make me a goner… and I don't know how I can resist.
Whenever you see a goner… it could be me.
