Chapter Text
It was a normal week of school for the first years at Jujutsu high. Yuta had been at the school for a bit and was proud to say that he had already gotten into the schedules of the school.
While on lunch break Yuta was sitting next to Inumaki, his closest friend when he heard someone call out their names. It was Gojo. What could he possibly want?
"Alright Yuta and Inumaki, you guys have been assigned a mission together" Gojo announced, a little more cheerfully than he should have been considering how hard the mission was going to be if it needed both Yuta and Inumaki for it.
Still, they both accepted mission and made an attempt at walking away until Gojo stopped them.
"I wasn't done talking, but as I was going to say, The mission is quite far away so you two will have to stay overnight in a hotel once you're done with the curse.
Inumaki and Yuta exchanged glances before agreeing. "Of course Gojo, we both accept". Yuta said a little too enthusiastically.
As they walked away Inumaki snickered which made Yuta pause before he gave him a look that said that Yuta was being weird. Yuta laughed and slapped him on the back before walking away towards the dorms to pack his bags without realising Inumaki was behind him, Watching him walk away.

They both knew the mission was far away, but they didn't realise that it would be in Hokkaido. This was basically going to be a one day holiday, minus the cursed spirit excorsising.
Yuta and Inumaki both exchanged excited looks at each other after getting their flight tickets and Yuta beamed at Inumaki , Which made Inumaki's ears go pink, huh, I wonder what thats about. Yuta thought but decided to ignore it since they had better things to be thinking about now.
"Its weird" Yuta said, thinking out loud. Inumaki gave him a confused look.
"The fact that they're sending first years so far away for a mission. But then again maybe there was no one else for it."
"Salmon" Inumaki agreed with a quick nod.
"Still, I'm happy to be here doing the mission with you" Yuta added
"Salmon salmon" Inumaki agreed again with a smile.
Seeing Inumaki smile because of something Yuta said made Yuta feel a sense of acomplishment so he decided to try and make Inuamki smile more from now on.
"Mustard leaf." Inumaki stated. Are you ok, you're staring.
"Oh, sorry... We should probably get to our plane now, I think its boarding soon" Yuta mumbled while walking away, Once again leaving Inuamki behin him to watch him walk away.

After the flight they arrived in Hokkaido and they went straight to where the cursed spirit was reported, A high school on the outskirts of Sapporo.
This wasn't unusual as schools usually have lots of negative emotions in them, which makes it a hotspot for cursed spirits.
"I heard this was a big one so lets stick together" Yuta stated which earned a hum of agreement from Inumaki.
They walked into the school, and it was dark and cold as it had been abandoned once the cursed spirit was found. Apparently it was resting in the gym and had been slowly growing overtime as at sucked up all the negative emotions.
Once they entered the gym they saw it. A massive grade 1 cursed spirit with a large body and a massive mouth. There was some remenants of blood around it, indicating that it had killed some people.
As soon as they stepped in the gym the two first year imidiately put they plan they devised earlier into action.
"Dont move" Inumaki yelled, while pulling down the top of his shirt, revealing the markings around his mouth. Yuta had always admired Inumaki's face along with how unfairly pretty it was.
The cursed spirit immidiatly froze and Yuta lunged towards it with his katana out and made a massive cut near its back. On the way to making the second cut, the cursed spirit whacked him away into the wall. That wasn't nearly enough to damage Yuta though, and he lunged forwards to the cursed spirit and jumped up, making another sucessful cut in the cursed spirt.
This didn't seen to be enough to kill it though so Yuta retreated towards Inumaki, who was still near the entrance to start stage two of their plan.
Inumaki quickly pulled out his throat medicine and gulped it down before running at the curse. "Get crush-" Inumaki screamed before getting hit across the room.
Yutas eyes widened suddenly at the sight of Inuamki getting hit, suddenly giving Yuta the overwhelming urge to excorsise this curse once and for all, Which would have been done easily if it hadn't been moving so quickly to hit us out of the way. usually it would be easy to dodge these attacks But the curses sheer amount of cursed energy made it hard to get up close without getting hit.
Still, they had to complete stage two of their plan.
While Inumaki had tried his hardest, this wasn't over Yuta waited for Inumaki's signal before charging.
"GET CRUSHED" Inumaki yelled with much more force than earlier before hitting the ground.
Yuta watched him in awe, admiring his power before it was his turn to charge. With all the cursed energy embedded in his katana he landed a strong blow on the spirit before Inumaki's cursed technique could affect the curse.
It worked because the curse was weakened enough to be finished off by Inumaki.
The next thing they heard was the screeching of the curse before it popped into a million tiny bits.
As soon as Yuta confirmed the curse was dead, he ran over to Inumaki to congratulate him but all he saw was Inumaki lying on the floor coughing up blood. While it was normal for inumaki to cough up blood after using his cursed technique the sight never failed to scare Yuta.
When Inumaki saw Yuta coming towards him he smiled to try to make Yuta feel better, But Yuta still had the petrified expression on his face.
"Inumaki"! Yuta exclaimed.
"Yuta". Inumaki croaked before Yuta put his hands on Inumaki's back and pulled him into a hug. Inumaki hugged him back which sent shivers down Yuta's back. Before they realised, it was over and they both got up and walked tried to walk away until Inuamki fell.
He hadn't realised how strong the curse was until after as the side effects were now starting to kick in as inumaki's technique requires lots of cursed energy.
"Inumaki, are you ok"? Yuta gasped.
"Bonito flakes" he answered with a sigh.
"I'll carry you beck to the hotel then" Yuta smiled. He didn't know if he had enought energy to carry his friend but it was all worth it for Inumaki.
Inumaki nodded has Yuta picked him up and put him into his back.
For Inumaki it was surprisingly comfortable on Yuta's back and also for the fact that its was better than walking considering on how tired he was.
Despite being tired from the fight Yuta felt calm having Inumaki so close to him.
The walk to the hotel wasn't far and their bags were already there so they didn't have much they needed to worry about. The hotel was a small one but good enough for the both of them.
The room they were stating in was small and had a double bed, a couch and a bathroom. It wasnt much but they both couldn't care less about the size. Once in the room Yuta, who was still carrying Inumaki put the blonde buy down on the bed to rest. Yuta gave him some water and then layed down on the bed to rest next to him.
They were used to being close with each other so why did Yuta being so close to him make him so nervous. Inumaki was too tired too think about this quetion when he was being carried but now he had more then enough energy so why did this make him so nervous?
"Inumaki" Yuta whispered next to him. Inumaki turned around to look at Yuta who was already staring at him.
The sudden eye contact surprised Inumaki but still he kept eye contact with him, despite of how quickly his heart was racing.
"Tuna mayo"? He asked what is it?
"Oh um I was just wondering what you want to get for dinner" Yuta replied.
Inumaki gave it a long thought before getting up and dragging Yuta along with him. Despite a little bit of protest Yuta came along with him but was slightly disappointed when he let go of the grip on Yuta's wrist.
They arrived at a pasta bar around 3 minutes away from their hotel. Inumaki must have done some research on this place while I wasn't looking. Yuta thought to himself. They both decided to get the carbonara pasta and crab pasta which they shared between them. Before eating Inumaki took a photo of their food.
"Why did you do that" Yuta questioned the boy before taking a bite of his pasta.
Inumaki typed on his phone and then showed it to Yuta: to remember our first date.
This made Yuta spit out some of his food and cough awkwardly. His reaction earned a small laugh from Inumaki. Afterall he had somehow gone a whole day without teasing Yuta somehow so he couldn't just leave it like that.
After the food Yuta insisted on paying for the food and Inumaki wasn't going to say no to free food so he let him pay. While walking back they went past and ice cream shop and got some to share.
Once back at the hotel they decided to watch a movie like they always did when at school. They were used to being so close to eachother but Yuta couldnt help but feel his heart race when he felt they boy move beside him.
Around halfway through the movie Yuta felt a head on his shoulder. Oh Inumaki fell asleep he thought. Yuta took this as his sign to bed as well so without a second thought he also layed down next to his friend.

Yuta stood there staring at his best friend on the floor. Blood coming out of his mouth but not moving.
"INUMAKI" he yelled, but it only came out as a whisper.
Move forward. Move forward!! Yuta yelled to himself. But his feet were frozen in place.
Inumaki then opened his eyes and mouthed Yuta before the curse hit him into the wall. Inumaki sat against the wall unconscious.
Yuta opened his eyes to the feeling of someone slapping his face. He just made out a figure kneeled over him out of the darkness of the room.
Oh, Inumaki.
But the Inumaki he saw kneeled above him wasn't the one he usually saw. No this one was stressed unlike the usually calm and collected person he saw.
"YUTA, mustard leaf?!" Yuta are you ok?!
Yuta then sat up and realised how much of a mess he looked. He was in a cold sweat and he could feel the tears on his face.
"Yeah. It was just a dream". Yuta's eyes widened at the memory of that dream and worst of all, Inumaki unconscious on the floor. But its ok now, it was all a dream and the real Inumaki was sitting less than a metre in front of him.
Without even thinking Yuta pulled Inumaki into a hug because he needed it more than he could know. The gentle touch of Inumaki on his back reciprocating the hug felt better than anything in the entire world, and even better when he started tracing shapes on Yuta's back to calm him down.
The Inumaki in his dream may have been dead but the one in front of him was definately alive.
Yuta then fell asleep in the arms of Inumaki, who's heart was racing way too much than normal.
