in which raihan invents various excuses to see his florist crush. || raihan x reader (gender neutral pronouns)

Work Text:

Raihan never considered himself one for flowers– until he met you.

It was the day Leon became Champion of Galar, and Raihan wanted to buy a flower arrangement to celebrate his friend’s massive win.

After a quick search on his Rotom phone, he made his way to the most popular flower shop in Wyndon!

When he was greeted by your infectious smile and pleasant voice greeting him, he felt his heart beat a little faster.

You created a beautiful arrangement for him– after Raihan explained that the flowers were for the newly crowned Champion, you even included a few extra flowers for his Pokemon team. (This made his heart melt just a little bit.)

Leon loved the flowers, but he couldn’t help but notice that Raihan kept on bringing them up in the following days when they hung out.

“Did you like the flowers Leon? I like the flowers. They’re from this really nice shop in Wyndon. I like the …flowers! A lot…”

He used Leon’s first battle as Champion as an excuse to buy more flowers.

Raihan seemed to be stalling while he was picking out the components of the arrangement, stealing glances at you– he even offered to help trim the leaves and thorns, to “make it more personal,” he claimed.

You saw him a few days later as well.

“I just want to get some for my home!”

…And the next day.

“Duraludon really liked the peonies…!”

…And the day after that.

“I need some to give to my neighbor because of her, uh… newly caught… Wooloo!...?”

Two months had passed since you’d first met, and you’d seen him at least 4 times a week. Each time, he would sit and chat with you at the counter, picking off leaves and browned petals, carefully trimming the stems.

He was getting good at it, too. He could probably start his own floristry business at this point.

But one day, he came in, a bouquet of flowers already in hand, approaching you with what seemed like hesitation.

He cleared his throat. “I… Um, I’ve bought flowers from you for… everyone I know, by now.”

The two of you stared at each other blankly. What was he trying to get at?

“I just really wanted to see you,” he blushed– a crack in his usually confident demeanor.

“...And, I made this arrangement for you. I grew these flowers myself– with the help of the Budew and Roselia that hang around my house.”

It was a wonderful arrangement. He had learned a lot from his visits to your shop…

“I…Don’t think I could possibly find anyone else to give flowers to at this point…I’m out of excuses to see you, so… Do you wanna go out sometime?”
