Honestly it was unfair. So fucking unfair. He was her friend. At least he was supposed to be her friend. So why the hell did he ditch her to go hang out with her girl? Just because they weren’t official or anything doesn’t mean he can steal her away from Kali.
I mean come on! He knows she has the biggest crush on Selina even if she doesn’t admit it. They had a plan. Kali would lure Selina into confessing her love to her by playing hard to get. She’d trip Selina in the halls which would be a way of having contact without overdoing it, she’d point out how she looked in the mornings to encourage her to do better without seeming like a simp{even if she was one}, and she’d pull on her hair to try and straighten it whenever it looked all bunched up. But all her advances were taken the wrong way and met with Selina getting mad at her and calling her childish.
Childish?! C’mon playing hard to get was the most mature thing to do! It didn’t make Kali seem like a desperate school girl but it also let the other person know she held some sort of emotions towards them. And yet Selina didn’t get it. She didn’t understand that so bad that she went for Ezra. Fuckin Ezra. Not that Ezra wasn’t attractive or a good guy but..
Kali was so much better— at least for Selina she was! Ezra was great but he wasn’t “meant for Selina great”. And yet here they were, Kali hiding in the bathroom and kicking at the walls to get out her anger, and Ezra and Selina gone on some sort of “hangout” probably getting it on.. It made Kali sick to even think about it and yet she couldn’t help herself. The jealousy was too strong. That's when Kali realized she was crying.
She can’t believe it! No way she was crying over some chick!.. of course she was. She loved that chick.. She’d never say it to her face but she thinks about her all the time. It made her feel better to think about that beautiful understanding face that gave her encouragement whenever she felt like nobody understood her. Whenever she’d storm into her room and hide underneath her blankets all she’d have to do was think about Selina..
And call Ezra who also had a knack for making her feel better. Ezra was one of the few people who understood Kali and stuck around her even when she acted like an asshole. He sat with her whenever she’d cry and helped her get back at her bullies ever since she was a little dude. They’d hang out every day. Halloween was one of her favorite times to hang out with him because they’d always crash parties after trick or treating and play pranks on people and scare 'em half to death whenever they’d make fun of them. And now she was left all alone to fuckin rot because her best friend{honestly only friend} and her crush are in love with each other and too busy smoochin to notice her pain..
Suddenly she heard footsteps getting closer and closer until someone tried to open the door. Kali quickly rubbed her eyes and her tears away and turned towards the toilet.
“Shut up, I’m almost out!”
Kali yelled at the girl behind the door as she ripped the toilet paper as loud as she could and threw it into the toilet to really sell the act and to get a longer moment to herself before flushing the toilet and marching over to the door.
“S-sorry—“
Kali swung the door open before the girl could finish apologizing so fast that it hit the poor girl in the face and made her fall to the floor. She let out a yelp as she hit the floor and looked up at Kali with trembling lips that she was trying to bite back. Seriously? Some crybaby nerd was the one to rush her?? And why was she standing so close to the door? It’s her fault she got hit! Kali shouldn’t help her.
She wouldn’t! She’s in too much of a bad mood.
“Watch it..”
Despite her previous thoughts and words Kali found her actions doing the exact opposite as she extended a hand to the trembling girl. Honestly she couldn’t help but take pity on her when she saw the way her face flushed and she looked down at her knees while she bit her lip and her eyebrows furrowed. She especially couldn’t help but feel bad when she noticed the way her eyes watered. She was like a little girl. One hit by the door and she’s already holding back tears. Though Kali could only see her younger self in the girl she stared at expectantly.
Kali shook her hand impatiently at the girl, waiting for her to notice. When she did her eyes widened and she quickly took the offered hand and let it help her up.
“Th-thank you! ¡Es usted m-muy amable!”
The girl thanked Kali with a slight tremble in her voice.
“… Huh??”
Kali raised an eyebrow at the Spanish words she could hardly understand. Her parents never bothered to teach her her native language when she was younger so unfortunately for her she had to use google translate for everything.
“Oh uhm- sorry! Wh-what I meant was you’re very kind..!”
The girl smiled softly at Kali which made an embarrassing glow rise to her cheeks.
“Oh uh- yeah it’s nothing— I mean of course! Duh! I’m always awesome enough to help out fre- people.”
Kali couldn’t help the proud, shit-eating grin that spread across her face at the praise. The girl smiled back and that made Kali almost forget about her problems. Almost. Then the girl noticed something off about Kali. The leftover tear marks that were attempted to be wiped away and her bloodshot red eyes.
“A-are.. Are you ok?”
Caught off guard by the question, Kalis eyes widened before she quickly masked her shock with confusion and slight annoyance.
“Uh yeah?? Why wouldn’t I be?”
“I-it just.. it looks like you’ve been crying..”
Damn it.. Kali really thought she looked better. Panicking, Kali quickly spoke.
“Well I haven’t so.. yeah! Mind your business.”
The girl quickly shrank back with a soft frown and looked down at her feet.
“S-sorry..”
… God-fuckin-damn it.. she was too pitiful.
“It’s fine it’s just.. My best friend is out on a date with my crush.”
Kali couldn’t hold it back anymore. She needed to let it out—

“D-do they know you have a crush o-on that person?”
“Yup. That's what makes it worse.”
“… That’s.. So unfair…”
Funny. That’s exactly what she said.
“Yeah I know..”
Suddenly Kali was pulled into a hug. At first she had the urge to push Adalia away but for some reason.. She didn’t. She didn’t hug back either but.. She let herself be embraced.
“I-if you want I can hang out with you..”
Usually Kali would say no because she’d be too busy hanging with Ezra to even think of anyone else other than Selina. But today she was alone. What’s to lose?
“Sure..”
