Work Text:

Every student would make bets on who they thought was secretly dating, or would ship random people. Some stopped to classmates and friends, while some others would place bets even on teachers. Normally this was a game in a small friend group, but that changed and became an exchange between multiple classes.

Some people liked to make combinations of people that were completely opposites, and a good first pick was the maths teacher and the foreign languages teachers, the classic, respectively Leon and Ada. To prove points of those two being different, they pointed out how Leon always wore dark colors, but especially blue, and how Ada would wear mainly red, occasionally changing her theme of dark or light clothes.

Red never missed her outfit, even if it was a small thing like her belt, jewelry, her lipstick or an accessory on her bag.

Today, a pop of red appeared in Leon's outfit, and what seemed like a smashed lipstick stain on his cheek, with a silly attempt of washing it off. No one would believe him that he tried red blush and only put it on one cheek. To be fair he would come up with this and not believe it himself.

Words twirled around, a serious man like him wore red keychains on his laptop bag, and to his keys. Leon always took his laptop along, and his keys would always be dropped on his desk – he has lost them a few times, they would usually fall from his pant's pockets.

Some students always got to school way earlier, even before some teachers. They would stay outside on benches or on the stairs.

They would watch as cars pulled into the teacher's parking lot and who got out of each car. Some students would hide when they saw some specific teachers, while some others would go out of their way to greet them.

Almost everyone knew what car Leon drives, a Porsche. What they didn't know was that he had a passenger who you could spot from a mile away, wearing her signature red color.

Nobody noticed that, and that's because Ada and Leon were always super early. They were often seen sharing their breaks together, so that only amplified the burning stakes.

At the sight, some gasped out loud. They did believe that was a possibility that they would be at least dating, but some went the extra mile to say they are married, or act like a married couple.

“We are a hot topic around the students,” Ada said as she got out of the car, clearly spotting the students by the stairs. She was amused by it.

“I might've started them,” Leon says half joking.

Ada quickly turns to him and raises an eyebrow as she throws her bag over her shoulder.

“I attached the red keychains to my keys and laptop bag,” Leon laughs as he raises his hands as if to surrender, “I felt extra that day and then I heard word of that for the whole day.”

Ada huffed but then giggled. “I played the same games when I was their age.” She leans on the car as Leon looks through the backseat, pulling his things together. His laptop and some books.

He raised his head and said, “You do seem like the type to.” he smiled and continued to gather his things.

“Now what's that supposed to mean?”

“Let's go, don't want to be late and hear about myself spending extra time with you,” Leon tried to act annoyed, spacing the last words away, emphasizing them.

“You are honoured to be in my presence,” Ada shot back and started walking, Leon having to catch up as he locked the car.

She reached the stairs and hasn't looked back, and she wasn't planning on to either. Ada smiled and waved to some of the students laying on the stairs and they all greeted her back, everyone seemingly extra happy.

“I see everyone is in a good mood today?” She teased and they started laughing, agreeing.

“Good morning,” Leon said as he caught up and Ada playfully rolled her eyes and started walking again, amplifying everyone's reactions.

The day rolled out as usual, Leon teaching maths from the first hour of the day, and Ada talking in diverse languages, between her many classes.

The breaks between classes are small, but Leon always makes a small effort. He crosses the street and gets two coffees, one for himself and one for Ada. He moves fast, and goes to Ada's class to hand her the cup personally.

She doesn't really get out of the classroom, she doesn't get out if she doesn't have a reason. Ada would rarely forget something in the car, and Leon would get it for her without her even asking.

Leon knew exactly how Ada liked her coffee, she was never disappointed. Whenever he would come, they would chat a little and almost in a whisper, even if it was about house chores, grocery shopping, or simply checking in on one another.

“How has your day been?” Leon asks as he hands her the cup.

Ada sighs, “fine, just like any other day, really. Yours?” She takes a sip of her coffee and smiles slightly.

“Headache from the first hour.”

Ada playfully clicks her tongue, “what maths does to a person. Your grey hairs are speaking.”

“Oh, shut up,” he knows that she is joking, if she wasn't, she wouldn't look at Leon with so much adoration and love in her eyes. They both start laughing, but they are cut short as more and more students come into the classroom.

This is one of their least favorite moments, separation.

On some other days, Ada would eventually steal a shirt from Leon's wardrobe. Sometimes it would match her outfits or, sometimes she just wanted something a little different.

Today they went to their job like usual and both went to their own classroom. Both of their schedules matched, since they asked for it to be arranged in such a way to be able to come and go home together. It was more of a to use only one car situation – at least that's what they called it.

Ada sat in her classroom for a little, completely empty. She received a message about how the students she was supposed to have at class now, were held for some additional time due to a test. She texted back, saying everything is fine and after a few minutes she decided to go to Leon's class.

He would probably be at the board, teaching, so she could sit down in his chair and either be on her phone, either observe his class.

Ada's heels started to click throughout the hallway and entered the classroom with just a quick smile to the students.

Leon was up, with an open book on the desk and a marker in his hand. His forehead was just wrinkles and his eyes narrowed, he was so absorbed that he didn't even notice her.

Ada playfully nudged him and said a “wake up, silly,” before sitting down.

He finally looked up at her and smiled, sighting. “Nice to see you too,” he didn't question her about her class, he never really does. He knows how things roll and he also didn't mind Ada being around.

A few students started whispering, somehow connecting the dots on how they remember Leon wearing the same shirt earlier that week, and now Ada was wearing the same exact one. No mistake.

Ada picked on a few words and rapidly averted her gaze to the group, raising an eyebrow. They all went quiet, until she smiled and stifled a laugh, turning to Leon who was already looking at her.

She tilted her head to him and presumably did a face to him because they both started giggling.
