Work Text:
The lake, painted in shades of deepest blue as ice fractals decorate it roughly, reflected the gruff visage of Cruel King, his left eye buried in the core of a pure ice crystal, emitting frost, his body flooded by the cold as he had been for… Felt like eons since he last felt warmth, now that he thought of it.
As he sat down amidst the pillowy snow, a gust of air graced his skin, and from that gust, lied someone who appeared oddly one with the wind, messy bun tied together with a hairband, wearing a white and light blue yukata, right fold over their left with a fierce, yellow eye flashing fiercely amidst the indigo water.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what leaves you so troubled, sir? Not many know of this place,” the snake-eyed figure had asked, not necessarily a man, but not a woman either, seeming like something in between compared to the denizens of Blackrock.
“I… It’s but the business of royalty, so I’m afraid you won’t be getting something from me anytime soon. That is all.” The Cruel King had let the words slither from his tongue, cold as ice in tone as the snake-eyed figure drifted off to the other side of him.
“Feel free to kill me if I’m incorrect, but royal business doesn’t leave you coming to a place such as this, especially considering how much ice gathers here, does it?”
The snake-eyed figure had gently held the capsule of ice holding Cruel King’s left eye hostage, cupping it gently as the wind billowed around the two of them, snow bursting forth from around them as the flakes of frost slowly swept themselves down, the ice slowly easing itself around their hand.
Cruel King was taken aback at such a gesture, feeling the hot air enveloping around his eye as it slowly melted off his eye, letting himself blink and sigh in relief once more.
“Thank you, ki- Actually, wait. What should I call you?”
“Please-”
A hasty decision was made that evening, the sun painting the sky shades of violet and pasty oranges as the robed figure gently pressed their lips against the eye of the somewhat thawed royalty, landing on it as a feather does to the burly earth that they both sat upon.
“-call me Aero, okay?”
Aero, near-immediately regretting their actions, had blushed fiercely and looked away in embarrassment, hands firmly rooted in the snow before Cruel King, just as flustered with his light-blue blush, had pried Aero’s hand from the ground and gave it a kiss.
“I… I must thank you for this, Aero…” stammered the royalty under his breath, his heart… racing? Such a sensation has been long overdue, but he couldn’t help but melt in the snow, unable to move anywhere but closer to Aero as he leaned up against him, albeit both of them were awkward messes while they relaxed in each other's presence.
“Now, I’m afraid that I have business to attend to, so I must go.”
Cruel king had told Aero, his hand reaching for theirs as a simple gesture before Aero had taken it, their snake eyes piercing the frosty blue eyes of Cruel King, pondering such crystalline irises of the man who’d kissed them today. Cruel King’s free hand had cupped Aero’s cheek, thumb tracing itself down to their chin with surgical precision, lingering and grasping gently at Aero’s cheek.
“Your majesty, what are you-”
Cruel King had pointed Aero’s chin a bit upward as he swooped down for a kiss, only lasting a second as a fierce blush painted the both of their faces, warming Cruel King’s face.
“For… Your troubles…” sputtered Cruel King before slowly walking off, leaving Aero red as roses and unable to think for a moment, trying to remember the face of the man who had just kissed them.
