Chapter Text
grip the rim of the old shabby dingy with my remaining arm, rotten wood splintering off into my hand. The shackle on my wrist feels like it’s close to meeting bone. I have to stay awake.. Stay upright. I’m not sure why, I just have to. Fighting for balance on the slick floor of the boat. Burry shapes making their way across my vision, taunting my inability to make them out. I curse my muscles because they won’t stop shaking, I curse my body because it won’t stop hurting, hurting.. hurting.. God it fucking hurts! My arm finally caves in. My mouth collides hard with the salty wood and I can barely make out a drop of white fall to the floor. I taste iron. I’m going to die here. I’m going to die here, alone, with no one to mourn the loss. No good reason for it to my name. And why would they? I’m so tired I can’t keep my train of thought.. Can’t remember what them and what’s me… Can’t remember if I’m worth mourning after what I did… After everything that happened. The ground beneath me rocks sharply. There's a pressure on my shoulder and then I’m ripped upward. The sun momentarily steals my remaining vision. A voice is saying something I can’t quite make out over the screaming in my head. I’m… dead? Is this an angel? Why would an angel be coming for me? How did he get all the way out here? He sounds frantick, shaking me like a crazy man. I finally manage to almost focus my eyes.
“HELLO? OH FRICK PLEASE DON’T BE DEAD! GOD PLEASE DON’T BE DEAD I CAN’T HANDLE THAT RIGHT NOW, PLEASE!" But how am I meant to answer if you keep shaking me? Not like I really know anyway. You're an angel right? You’re the one who’s meant to know that kind of thing.
I stare at his sandy blond hair and sky blue eyes. It’d be nice to get to look at him with clear vision. He wrenches me upward. I realize he’s trying to carry me off the dingy. I suppose he’s not an angel then, an angel could just fly... Guess he just sorta looks like one. That makes more sense anyway. Why would an angel come here anyway?
“C’mon” He grunts “Just gotta cut this handcuff off and then get you over this ledge and then I can fix you up on the ship.. But I swear you're not gonna die ngh on this sad. Stupid. Little. Ship.”
At some point mid being dragged off the ship I pass out. I come back staring at the man crouching over me, silhouetted by a crisp blue sky, his hair blowing in the breeze. It takes me a second to realize it doesn't hurt any more. I sit bolt upright.
