Chapter Text
Wemmbu thought, deeply, (which he rarely did) as he leaned his back against the bleachers. His tiara slightly tilted to the side. His long lavender locks tangled with the railings, as sweat trickled down his forehead from PE training. He hated school. Despised it, as a matter of fact.
Nothing was particularly wrong with Unstable Academy to be honest. It was a pretty neat school. He was the popular kid everyone was scared of– well, besides Flame, but he didn't mind that. It never bothered him anyway. People still bowed down at his feet regardless.
However, what bothered him the most was his best friend, Eggchan.
He was never one to care about anything, but Eggchan was his only care in the world. Egg was Wemmbu's anchor, his only support system, which he would forever be grateful for (not that he would tell him that, obviously. He needed to keep his nonchalance some way).
Despite his perfect facade, his heart couldn't help but ache slightly at the thought of Egg.
Eggchan had always been fond of literature. It was pretty notable as well:
Scoring full marks on an essay about his favorite Shakespeare quote, "To be or not to be, that is the question". It's a Hamlet quote. Of course he knew that. Egg talked about it at least twice a week,
A dorm room you could respectfully mistake for a library,
And probably the only person that Wemmbu has interacted with in the entire campus that dresses formally (and teaches Wemmbu to do so).
Wemmbu's polar opposite. Possibly why they differ yet fit so well.
Well,
At least that was the case months ago.
Egg claimed it was just fatigue, A project he was been working on.
But his sleep deprived eyes said otherwise.
Wemmbu might be a dumbass, but he could clearly see through Egg's pathetic attempts to cover up something as he drowned himself behind sonnets and ballads..
Something he couldn't quite place a finger on.
Something awfully wrong...
And that hurt him more than the dodgeball that just crashed straight on his face, with unmistakable precision.
The hit was enough to bring Wemmbu back to his senses. He sat upright, facing the fire breed that stood at the center of the field as he rubbed his now slightly reddening nose.
To be fair, that was actually a remarkable shot, but it wasn't surprising, it was Flamefrags after all.
"OUCH—"
"You should have caught that. You're lacking. Again,"
Flame interrupted, prepared another bright, fully pumped dodgeball on his right arm, but he didn't throw it. He kept it against his side as he faced the purple demon,
"That's the second time this week,"
Flame added with a tinge of concern before he brushed it off just as quick as it came,
"You know you're like, the only other person who can actually play here, right?"
Wemmbu stared at him hard, (well, his blindfold at least) then bursted into laughter,
"Bro, what?"
"Well, not in a bad way, like you're still kinda worse than me but everyone else is unrecoverably worse y'know?"
Flame cracked a small smile, so small you could definitely miss it. Wemmbu was his rival, but he didn't hate him. So knowing that he was probably dealing with some tangled mess, he was proud he got a smile on his face.
"Yeah yeah, sure. Is that even a– okay. You can convince yourself all you want."
Wemmbu replied as his thoughts finally started to align.
Flame responded with the flaming dodgeball he had been prepping, which Wemmbu undoubtedly dodged, and they burst into laughter, which seemed to calm Wemmbu down.
Slightly.
