It had been a long day. Sapphire left the house hours ago, leaving Scourge to take care of Diesel, whom he of course, didn’t mind. He loved his son, but he also felt as though there was something he had been missing all day and it had him yearning, oddly enough.
He sat in the dining room alone, he had put his son down to sleep, deciding to keep himself company for now-
But then, by some miracle, the familiar sound of jingling keys caught his ear, he quickly darted to the front door, opening it for his wife.
“SAPH! Your home! Great- I was wonderin’ how long you’d take, how was hanging out with the others, babe?”
“It was great, how were you and Dee?”
“He’s asleep, out like a light.”
Scourge smiled, gently pulling in Sapphire for a hug. “You know, I really missed you. As much as I love hanging out with the kid, it feels weird to not be beside you and all.. even if it’s around the goody two-shoes you call friends..” he said, slightly mumbling out the last part, burying his face into the crook of her neck.
Scourge wasn’t typically the kind of person to outright state he missed people so this was new to Sapphire. Was he final,y caving through a bit after all these years? I mean, above all she was just glad he was comfortable.
She smiled, yawned, and gently pet his quills. "I missed you too.." she replied, exhausted from the long day out. Scourge pulled away, looking down at her. "Tired, eh?" He said looking at her, subconsciously worried about her overexerting herself. She lazily nodded, her social battery was clearly low now.
"How about we just rest then, mmkay princess? Don’t want ‘ya passing out on me.” He said taking her hand and leading her to their bed.
Scourge pulled back the covers, motioning for Sapphire to join him. She followed, stumbling a bit before quickly getting comfortable, lying against him.
After a moment of gentle silence passes, Scourge speaks up. "Im glad your finally home.."
“Aw, really? I didn’t take you as the type to miss me, but I won’t complain” She chuckled softly, snuggling against him.
“Weeell can you blame me? It’s you we’re talkin’ about here, you’re my wife after all!.. hah.. gosh, sometimes it’s still feels weird to say that. I’m still dumbfounded that it was me that you decided to make the love of your life.. though, I’m really glad you did, Saph.”
Sapphire stared at her husband’s face softly, gently caressing his face with one of her naturally tougher hands. Scourge only responding with a gentle smile and close eye contact, his blue eyes reflecting the moonlight from the window, while Sapphire’s gold eyes tiredly gazed back.
“..And I’m glad too, honey. You genuinely changed my life for the better.. and, you know, if you where feeling like you where missing out on going out with me, we could’ve also hired a babysitter or taken the little one with us” Sapphire replied, just above a whisper.
“Fair,” Scourge muttered. “I just, forget that I can ask for your time, you know?.. plus, I wouldn’t want the little bundle of love we got sleeping in the other room to be too lonely without his ma and pa, I mean he’s just a tot.”
“And that’s fair, but, we can always go on adventures as a family together, silly, never forget that” Sapphire said, gently kissing his forehead and lying on his shoulder, comfortably wrapping herself around him. “I love you, sleep well.”
“I love you too, Saph.. Sleep well, princess. We’ll make plans for the three of us tomorrow.”
