Breathtaking Blossoms

Summary:

A bratty catgirl and an apple girl have a quick run-in.

Notes:

This expects a certain level of understanding for DELTARUNE, specifically Chapter 5. The secret boss of the chapter is a major character in this fic, as well as an old Toby Fox OC that many rumoured to be the secret boss instead. Please enjoy.

While I have very little personal experience with plurality, I am aware that the way Pink works isn't 100% accurate to how having multiple identities works in real-life. I have tried my best to replicate the way this is handled in-game and it is not my intention to offend anyone. Thank you!

Work Text:

Having duelled with the heroes of the prophecy, Pink treasures the final hour before the dark fountain seals her short-lived home away.

While her little sister Orange vowed to stay by her side till the very end, all the attention from her new family began to make her head spin. Even if the praise felt great with her new body, it would surely do her good to catch some fresh air.

Leaning over the balcony and staring into the distance, catching a glimpse of her old home in the cliffs, an idea crosses her mind.

If the heroes can go wherever they want, why can't she?

Letting out one last "mew~" and promising to return to her sisters, she takes some of Green's snacks and sets off, descending the first beanstalk she could find.

-

"Ugh, did it just rain in here or something??", she says irritably, expecting an answer.

The cattails wave from the quiet breeze that passes through swamp. Looks like everyone's already been recruited.

"This is no place for a kitty like me... Maybe I should've just stuck with Ory after all, mew..."

"N-NO! We came here for air and we're GETTING it, body!", she exclaims, trudging through the damp grass on her tippy toes.

"Myuh... I just want to go back and drink tea..."

"Yeah, I do too, but you can't have your strawberry shortcake and eat it too, you-"

Something catches her off guard. It sounded like... someone yelling?

"Worry not, this doll in shining starlight will save you, mew!~", she says before dashing through one of many Torii gates, trying to find the Darkner in need.

As she continues her sprint, passing into the more pleasant pink gardens, she comes to a screeching halt and draws her wand.

"Now what might be the problem here, miss?"

Standing over her is a slightly chubby girl in a long, apple-themed skirt, holding an appropriately themed beret near her chest. Her skin is coloured pale gold, but softer than any of the flowers in the castle.

"Well, I spent all day harvestin' these apples only for those pesky heroes to take the only chef in this darn place..."

Pink listens attentively, resting her gloved finger on her lips and tilting her head while she looks up at her.

"I was commissioned to make a good ol' apple pie for the king and that weird butler of his, but I lost track of the time and now these heroes... they're gonna seal us all away!

Pink frowns slightly, distracted by the realisation that the cherry blossoms were apple blossoms all along. She quickly regains her composure.

"Well, I'm sure I, Pink, can make it work out, mew! I've never baked before, but I can take you to the castle and my sib Green can surely-"

"Oh no, missy, I'm afraid I can't do that...", she says, gently cutting her off.

The girl takes a step towards Pink, putting her hat on and presenting the doll with a basket of apples.

"You see, I only just finished harvesting... and someone's gotta give 'em a taste before they get used."

Doki, doki... Oh no, my heart... i-it's beating all loud again... but... she's...

The apple girl leans down, their eyes meeting.

"Say, why don't we take a lil ol' ride? I know a good spot for a picnic.", she says with a smile.

U-ugh, no... it's my body, right??? I don't actually...

"M-myuh???", Pink's voice box crackles.

"Sure, I'd uh- be... I'd be glad to help you! ...mew!", she quickly follows up.

Doki, doki... this... isn't like what happened with the heroes, is it...?

The apple girl giggles and gets back up, leaving her company's eyes to gander at a rather inconvenient area before the two begin their stroll.

I'm moving my legs, I'm talking, I'm in control... and yet... putting a stop to this feels stupid...

-

A few minutes pass. The two walk through the garden in a pleasant silence, approaching an empty door frame.

"You can do magic, can't ya?", the girl asks.

"Of course! We magical girls ought to know every spell in the book to stop evil!~", Pink says, giving her wand a twirl.

The farmer lets out a small giggle.

"Okay, how about you be a good lass and unlock my door for me?", she says, pointing into the shadow.

"E..eh?? But there's... aren't these uh, for the heroes to activate?"

"Aren't you a hero, though?", she says with a smile, mimicking Pink's thinking pose from earlier.

"Um, well, OF COURSE! Of course, of course I am! I'll- I'll get it open for you, mew!~"

After a few tries, a red door manifests, fading neatly into the empty frame.

"P-phew!~ Nothing an experienced nyacromancer can't handle!~"

Opening the door, the two stand atop a pink hill with a tree overlooking the garden from afar.

"So, are you ready to do some tasting? Mission complete?", Pink asks, a small bead of sweat leaving her plastic shell.

"Well, we've walked quite an end... I figured a good ol' healthy snack would be in order."

Annoyed but also compelled, Pink sits down under the tree.

Looking next to her at the apple girl, she feels something.

It's like when those heroes flirted with her, but, this girl... she hasn't even done anything like that, right...?

Doki, doki...

UGH, it's still beating! And why isn't that stupid voice box doing the work for me??? Fine, yeah! Just let me do all the work then!

"Sorry, I never got your name! How unprofessional of me, mew~!"

"Heh? Oh, sorry. Well, my name's Apple Girlington but that's a little..."

Geez, and I thought Mew Mew Kissy Cutie was bad. Apples isn't really something I feel like moa-

"I'll do you a favour and just call you Aggie, mew!~"

"Alrighty then.", Aggie says back, a small chuckle escaping her lips.

-

"It's about time we get to the tasting, then...", Aggie says, taking a bite of the apple before handing it to Pink.

Pink takes a small bite in the same spot as Aggie, staring her in the eyes before realising what she did.

"T-that wasn't- I don't- there's not anything going on here!!", she lies, her plastic shell glowing a reddish pink.

The doorframe behind the two has gone empty once more.

N-no, $#!$!!, I- why did I acknowledge it-

With her head turned the other way, Pink hands the apple back to Aggie.

...but, her body scoots slightly closer.

SERIOUSLY??? You're gonna do this to me, body??? Ugh- okay...

Still pouting, Pink turns her head back to Aggie.

"What, didn't like it?", she says teasingly.

Without a word, Pink grabs the apple out of Aggie's hands and cartoonishly gnaws the sweet treat to its bitter core.

"You're- you're just some villain of the week, aren't you??", she stifles out as the cartoony tears begin to swell at the bottom of her pupils.

"Mmm, I guess I am... I guess I am...", Aggie responds with a smirk.

"...but if I was a more serious villain, wouldn't I need a kitty on my lap to scratch? While I do my lil monologues?", she follows up, trying to see how much she can get away with.

Finally taking a hint, Pink lays her chin on Aggie's lap, stuffing another apple into her mouth as she pretends to pout.

"Mmf.. say, you should taste these apples, you prick..", Pink says, chucking an apple at Aggie's face with her eyes closed, missing entirely.

"Alright.", Aggie says.

She gently grabs Pink's head on her lap and leans down.

"H-hey- no- myuh!!- this apple's taken!!- taken!! TAKEN!!!"

But, despite her protests, Pink, without any help from the Darkner she inhabits, parts her lips.

-

"Careful dear, you wouldn't wanna get 'em heels wet!", Aggie says as she scratches Pink's ears.

"D-don't patronise me! I'm very powerful, mew!", she responds.

She swings her wand, but her emotions get the better of her and it only summons a single sparkle, shaped like a heart.

Blushing, she runs through the garden, away from her first kiss, who waves her on from a distance.

Maybe she'll be able to ask the heroes if they have room for one more recruit.
