“And what are we doing here, Aishi-san?”
Megami entered the East Zen Garden.
Ayano held a lit up cigarette between her fingers. She didn’t bother hiding it from the president, who was absolutely going to report her to the counsellor after this.
“Want to take a puff?” Ayano offered nonchalantly, which angered Megami. “It seems like you’ve had a hard day.”
“You’re right, I am having a difficult day trying to safeguard the school from this one particular girl, who’s certainly behaving a bit too fearlessly.”
“Who’s that student, I wonder…” Ayano held her chin thoughtfully, as if she was some greek philosopher.
The silverette did not find the act funny.
She blankly stared at the girl in front of her, trying to calm down internally, but just the vision of Ayano Aishi filled her with rage. Megami knew deep down that Ayano was responsible for the disappearance of nine female students, all of them connected to a senior named Taro Yamada. It’d make more sense for her to watch out for the boy, but his routine was so painfully boring.
Her suspect, on the other hand, made her feel something. Even if it was pure hatred, it still attracted her to the dark haired girl.
Like the Basu sisters, they were always 10 meters apart.
After a hot minute, when Ayano realised her rival didn’t care, she stopped her weird pose and instead puffed on the cigarette. “Are you sure you don’t want it?”
Megami just stared. The audacity??
At least the smoke was respectfully blown the other way. Bare minimum, but unexpected from Aishi.
“Ayano.” the president cleared her throat.
“Oh my, I’m Ayano now?” she remarked, as she flicked the cigarette butt on the ground and stepped on it.
“Ayano.” Megami repeated in a slightly stricter tone.
“Whaaaaat?” Ayano whined, walking towards her rival. Slowly, but noticeably.
No answer. But Ayano could hear Megami’s breath intensifying, no matter how much she tried to hide it.
“Please, keep distance.” Megami held out her hand stop, but in response Ayano took it and intertwined fingers with her.
The president inhaled sharply at the other girl’s touch and stepped back a bit.
“What is it, Saikou-san?” Aishi began speaking in a low voice, which further flustered Megami.
The bell rang in the background, but none of them even moved. The president just stood there. Zero reaction. Her thoughts focused on her rival. How beautifully Ayano’s dark hair swayed, moved by the light breeze, how her usually lifeless look now shifted to a dreamy gaze, directed at her, only her…which Megami could not resist at all.
…
“I fucking hate you for this.” Saikou muttered as she finally broke.
Ayano froze when Megami’s lips crashed against hers. It felt so soft, yet revealed dominance.
The silver-haired girl caught Ayano’s wrists, tightening her grip as she refused to believe how vulnerable she had become.
Separating seconds later, Ayano immediately missed the warmth, but didn’t dare reciprocate whatever that had just happened.
And she couldn’t. Megami shamefully avoided her gaze, turned around and departed, fighting not to look back.
“I fucking hate you too.” Ayano muttered, before walking off to class.
