Chapter 1: Liy

Chapter Text

The hotel lobby was almost empty, the setting sun having prompted most of the contestants to retreat back to their rooms for the night. It was only after the last bit of light left the sky that one of the double doors was quietly pushed open by a girl in blue wearing a small smirk. Liy slipped into the hotel and carefully pushed the door closed behind her, despite knowing that Black Hole’s weren't known for their sense of hearing the quietness made her feel safer. Just as she was mentally patting herself on the back for finally getting away with a late night adventure a deeply familiar cough came from behind.

Liy turned around slowly as if it would stop the confrontation she knew was about to happen.

“Heyyyyy,”

“It’s 12:10 pm Liy.”

Black Hole stood in the middle of the hotel lobby, arms crossed like a disappointed parent. A moment of silence stretched over the room as Liy considered her options, the chance of successfully evading the singularity was slim to none.

On the other hand Liy really didn’t want to go to sleep yet.

Black Hole seemed to catch on to her decision as he broke the stalemate, suddenly rushing forwards to try and grab her before a full chase could ensue. Liy felt the wind brush her bangs as she barely managed to sidestep, stumbling back a few steps before dodging another swipe at her.

The two locked eyes for a moment before Liy turned and bolted to the other side of the room, her footsteps leaving a small echo in the quiet lobby as she heard the annoyed celestial call out from behind her. Reaching the staircase the woman grabbed onto the railing and hauled herself up two stairs up at a time, her boots squeaking against the floor as she slid to the side to run up the rest of the flight.

Unfortunately for Liy her frantic pace caused her foot to land wrong on the next step and made her stumble, giving Black Hole the perfect opportunity to reach up and wrap a hand around her ankle. With the celestial’s strength and his experience in handling Liy the ensuing struggle didn’t last long before he managed to haul the woman over his shoulder.

“Noooo, c'mon," Liy whined, giving a few half hearted kicks against Black Hole’s chest before going limp in his hold.

“I wouldn’t have to do this if you just went to bed,” Black Hole replied, his usual deadpan mixed with a hint of exasperation.

Liy only huffed and crossed her arms, the two settling into a familiar silence as the celestial padded up the stairs. Space themed stickers lined the ceiling of Black Hole’s room, a much appreciated suggestion from Marker that coated the space in a soft glow. The singularity dropped Liy in the middle of the various blankets and pillows that made up his nest, showing no reaction to her scowl as she removed her blazer and boots. After giving her a moment to get comfortable Black Hole crawled into the nest and dropped himself over the woman’s legs, having learned from prior experience that she can and will get back up if he didn’t practically trap her.

The room slowly settled into a comfortable quiet, the soft hum of the singularities accretion disk providing a comforting white noise (not that Liy would ever admit that). Letting his head drop against blankets Black Hole watched Liy in the edge of his vision, waiting until her eyes shut and her body relaxed against his to let out a happy purr and finally closing his eyes to drift off himself.
