Earning the Scales

Summary:

Aysu was always different. She was a female warrior in a tribe that didn't accept that. But on the day of her bonding, something miraculous happened . . . and it forever changed her fate. But is she worthy of her grand destiny? Can she prove herself to be ready for it? Or is she not ready and still needs lessons?
Or, Aysu summons a gila monster and tries to grow into the 'legendary hero' she is destined to become.

In a time of strife and devastation, the old will awaken once more and protect their nation once more.

From the North shall come a boy and his hard-earned wildcat. From the storm shall come a child of ideals and lightning and thunder to go with them. From the west shall come a girl and her mighty protector—a beast with a venomous bite and hard armor but warm heart. From the waters shall come a child and their loyal dragon. And from the ancient blood of the wastes shall come a child with the heart of protector frog.
