Same Time Tomorrow?

Summary:

Aizawa and Hizashi spend their nights working at McDonalds for extra cash during the school year at UA. Unfortunately, everything seems to go wrong for the two of them during their shift…whoops.

Notes:

I wrote this fic in the span of 2 days because I was LONELY. It inspired a lot of laughing between my bestfriend and I. It’s inspired off an old summer job of mine, so all of these events actually took place for me or one of my coworkers😭

It’s just a silly little thing, don’t think too much about it. Don’t work at McDonalds😭

Work Text:

"Welcome to McDonald's, what can i get started for you today?" He groaned into the headset, tapping the register's screen with one hand and rubbing his temple with the other.

"Hi, yes, I would like 2 Happy meals, one with chicken nuggets, one with a plain cheeseburger."

"Do you want the 4-piece happy meal or the 6-piece happy meal?" Shouta sighed.

"Is there a price difference?" the customer asked into the drive-thru microphone.

"Yes Ma'am. The 4 piece is roughly $4.50, while the 6 piece is about $5.25."

"Okay...We'll get the 6 piece. Both happy meals with an apple juice, as well."

He clicked a few buttons, "Alright, do you want the toddler or kids toys?"

"Toddler or kids toys? What is McDonalds now? Woke central? A kids toy wont hurt no one." The customer retorted.

"Ma'am, it's advised to follow age recommendations for safety regulation."

"Okay, FINE. Cheeseburger with the kid's toy, and the nuggets with a toddler toy. DON'T forget the ketchup."

"Alright, what else can i get for you?"

"That'll be all."

"It'll be $11.69 at the first window." Shouta said before turning his mic off and pulling it up. The Chevy Silverado pulled up to the first window, handing him a credit card. He took the card, tapping it through the system and handing the woman her receipt.

The sun caressed the horizon as Shouta finished the 5th hour of his shift. He was exhausted. After starting at UA, he knew he'd have to have pocket money to afford things. His hero uniform alone costed enough to throw his family into bankruptcy. Originally, he'd planned on finding a small business job, maybe working at a coffee shop or a library. Turns out, in today’s job market, a 16-year-old has no shot at getting a spot when competing with degree ridden adults.

The lack of jobs left Aizawa where he stood now: McDonalds. He'd been working there for about 3 months, and he'd never regretted anything more. Sure there were some good things about it, first being money, of course. Coming from an impoverished family made his paychecks extra appealing to staying. He'd also gotten closer to a classmate of his, and if you asked him? He's the best fast food worker he'd ever met.

"YO! Sho? What it do?" Hizashi rolled next to Shouta on his almost-ancient heelys as he closed his register.

"Hey, Yamada, how are you?" Shouta mumbled, table creaking as he laid his weight onto it.

"Not much. They have me working front counter today." He drug his hands down his face, "I'm about to go on lunch, care to join me?"

"I'll ask the manager," Sho brushed past his friend, walking into the manager's office. The room was messy, covered in post-it-notes with illegible hand writing and crumpled paper. In front of him sat an abnormally tall, older man.

"Hey, Young Aizawa, everything going well?" the blonde man jokingly winked at his worker.

"Yeah, Yagi. Can i take my lunch? I was due 25 minutes ago."

"I'm not sure, kiddo. We're quite understaffed and Hizashi is taking his right now. Maybe when he gets back?"

Aizawa refrained from rolling his eyes, opting to rubbing the back of his neck instead. "I can ask Nishiya to cover me, he should be getting here soon. He's supposed to clock in at like..what? Like 6pm?"

"That'll do, son. You and Hizashi will both take your lunches at 6."

"Thank you, sir." He bowed before turning back to his friend. The headset on his ear beeped, causing him to roll his eyes and lower his mic. "Welcome to McDonald's, what can i get started for you today?"

In his ear, an older man strained into the microphone, "Is anyone there? I'd like to order my coffee now."

"Yes, sir, what can i get for you?"

"Speak up, boy! I'd like a medium sugar-free, iced vanilla coffee with no cream."

"Alright," Aizawa attempted to project more, "A sugar-free vanilla coffee, no cream. What else can i get for you?"

The old man went hoarse as he raised his voice,"What was that?"

He rolled his eyes again, per usual. "I asked if there was anything else i can get you!" He half-screamed into the mic.

"Now don't get short with me boy! How disrespectful it is to scream at your customers!"

"My apologies, sir. It'll be $4.49 at the first window." His friend stood beside him, holding a cackle in with his hand. Aizawa lipped a brief 'fuck you' before turning back to the window to serve the customer.

After handing Aizawa the money for the coffee, the old man leaned closer to him, "I want to speak to your manager, boy. Go get him!"

"Sir, my apologi--"

"Get your manager!" He strained, parking his miniature Hyundai car.

The boy nodded, turning to grab his manager, Toshinori, before he got yelled at. Toshinori smiled widely, showing all 32 of his pearly whites, muttering something incomprehensible to himself. Aizawa's heart skipped a beat as he looked at his wristwatch, 5:59pm.

By the time he'd made it to the ipad, Hizashi was already there. His face contorted into a weird abstraction as he took a picture clocking out. Aizawa followed behind him, looking into the camera with a flat face.

Aizawa sat on the golden-yellow booth, leaning forward onto his knees. The loose strands of his coarse black hair fell along his jaw. "I'm so glad our shift is almost over." He said.

Yamada folded his glasses, lying them on the table. He combed through his messy blond hair with his fingers, looking over to his friend, "Ditto, my dude."

After waiting over 10 minutes, the two of them received their crew meals, with just 20 minutes to devour them. Hizashi didn't hesitate to jump right in. Within seconds, he was over halfway into his big mac meal. Shouta tended to take it slower, often running out of time to finish his food.

"Are you going to eat your fries today?" Yamada questioned, pointing towards his friends food.

Aizawa shook his head, shoving them in his friend's direction as he nibbled on his ranch snack wrap. Before they knew it, it was time for them to clock back in.

"Fuuuck, Shouta, i dont want to go back in there." He groaned, leaning back as he took his last sips of Mt. Dew.

"Only 3 hours left, then we are free." Sho pushed himself off the booth, dusting his shirt off. With the same monotone look on his face, he clocked back in. Thankfully, Nishiya was still covering back window, so he made his way towards the assembly table. Hizashi, on the other hand, went straight towards the front counter. He'd always been good with people, and customer service wasn't an exception to that skill.

Assembly table was a piece of cake to Aizawa. All it was was tactile skills and pattern recognition, so he had no problem with efficiency. Hizashi was the opposite; he couldn't do alot with his hands, but he was charming, dashing even, when it came to customers.

Hizashi stood at the front counter, grooving to the random country song playing on the speakers. A family of six made their way towards the register. "Yo yo yo, it's ya boy Hizashi Yamada! What can i get for y'all today?"

A bulky man with a scowl on his face cleared his throat before looking around towards his kids, "They all want nugget happy meals."

A tall kid, probably 8 or 9, approached the counter with a toothy grin, "I actually want the chicken tender meal." His shoulder was yanked back by his father.

"Touya, they're the exact same thing." he snarled.
Thre white haired kid crossed his arms, pouting, "No dad! Theyre not!"

Hizashi stood awkwardly behind the counter, unsure of what to ring up. In front of him stood 3 kids and a toddler crying about their chicken nugget meals. Footsteps rapidly approached from behind him.

"Don't cry, kiddos! For I am here!" The number one hero exclaimed, holding a flexed bicep up. The grown man stood before him, bewildered. What was the number one hero doing in a McDonalds?

"All might!" The younger kids shouted, runnning out from behind their father. The youngest sat in his mom's arms, watching his siblings.

"All might, what are you doing here?" Endeavor angrily asked, not really wanting an answer.

"I simply work here, young endeavor. I have a brand deal with the franchise." All might smirked. "I've even updated my hero costume to play the part!" He gestured towards his fresh fit.

Endeavor huffed, feeling tension rising within his body. He clenched his fists (and cheeks), watching the hero interact with his children.

Hizashi stood watching the scene unfall, "Uh, sir, are you gonna order? You're holding up the line."

"Just give us a second, child." He hissed, reorienting his view on the might. Smoke began billowing from his nostrils, as he decided to approch the scene.

A tired Shouta emerged from the confinements of the kitchen with a bucket and mop, walking in on the interaction taking place. "Sir, quirk use is forbidden in the restaurant." His eyes beamed a gentle red light as he expelled the older man's quirk.

"Okay, fine. 4 chicken nugget meals. Come on, Touya." He tossed his debit card at Yamada, dragging his son to a table by his shoulders.

The card smacked into the blond's face, making him fumble to catch it. With a confused shake of the head, he used the card to pay for the meals. The customers behind the family were another child and an older man.

"Keigo, I already told you, you have to eat before you get your toy."

"Hey there! What can i get for you today?" Hizashi brushed his shoulders off, ready to insert a new order.
The young boy was blond, with a pair of large, red wings. "I want the Endeavor toy!"

"Unfortunately we no longer sell the toys on their own. You can order a happy meal and recieve a toddler or kids toy."

"But i want the toy!" Keigo exclaimed, tears brimming in his eyes.

"You'll get it with the meal, Keigo." The older man pinched the bridge of his nose. Yamada had to hold himself back from mirroring the movement, he couldn't handle another crying at the moment.

"Alright, do you want the chicken nugget or cheeseburger happy meal?" He asked.

"We'll have one of the cheeseburger happy meals with a chocolatre milk and toddler endeavor toy. I'll also have a Big Mac meal with no sauce."

"Anything else for you?"

"That'll be all." The man grabbed a stack of cash from his wallet, counting it carefully. He handed Hizashi the exact cash before walking away with the receipt.

Aizawa finished mopping, slowly approaching the counter his friend stood behind, "What time is it?"
Yamada looked around, slipping his phone from his pocket to check the time, "Almost 7, only an hour 'til we are free from this hellhole."

"That hour couldn't be longer." Aizawas head flung back as he groaned, rolling the mop towards the back of the store. In the back, he turned the faucet on, preparing to wash dishes. On the bright side, dishes passed the time faster than any other position. The scalding water dripped off his hands as he scrubbed metal racks, dipping them in the bright pink sanitizer and placing them in the sanitizing machine.

With his luck, he wasn't aware that the sanitizing machine was down. Within seconds, sanitizing fluid was spewing everywhere! His McDonalds uniform darkened as the liquid seeped into it and all over the floor. Toshinori rushed over to help, only to comedically fall on the sanitizer, falling directly onto his tailbone.

"Wow, young Shouta, what a situation we have here!" He said, holding onto his head.

"Yeah," Aizawa mumbled looking around at the mess, "I didn't know it would do that."

"Morning shift must've broken it, it was working last night." He chortled, "I'll put in a maintenance report, why dont you..uh..go clean up?"

Shouta nodded, holding a hand out to help the older man up. The employees weren't allowed to use the manager bathroom, so he made his way through the lobby to the customers restroom.

He pushed the door open, immediately covering his face with his hand, "Oh what the fuck." He croaked to himself, looking at the sewage pipes backing up into the bathroom. It reeked of feces with the floor being flooded with the poopy water. Unfortunately, it wasn't the first time this had happened. As usual, he stormed out and went back to the dishes. It could be night shift's problem.

The next hour of their lives couldn't have gone any slower. Aizawa proceeded to the dishes, only to be disappointed every 5 minutes by Kayama bringing a new set back from the endless cooking. Hizashi continued to take orders, often from large families or kids. He was in charge of the ice cream station, manually mixing McFlurries, as the machine was broken like everything else in the store.

When it was finally time for the two of them to clock out, they both rushed to the ipad. Hizashi went first, staring at the camera with a souless look in his eyes. Aizawa followed suit, tapping the screen with a blank look. The two made their way to the front, making themselves something small to take with them. Aizawa always made a latte with extra espresso, and today it was caramel. Yamada changed his mind on a day-to-day basis, often opting for something sweet, like a vanilla shake with whipped cream, oreo crumbs, and chocolate syrup.

Toshinori approached from behind them, grinning wide, "Thank you boys for such a great shift! Same time tomorrow?"
