Chapter Text

Everyone knows what they want to do in life.

Dorian had always had a passion for teaching people, so he ended up working at a local school, educating kids.

Dani loved art of all kinds, always being a dreamer. She opened a studio with Nico.

Everyone except Damien.

Desperate for a job, he ended up working at a small cozy café near his house, serving customers weekly.

Working at this job was basically like being in a semi-toxic relationship. Sure, the pay was good, and on top of that, the coffees tasted absolutely amazing. The one bad thing, for some weird reason, were the customers.

“So could I, like, get a Strawberry Açaí?” a girl asks that appears to be no older than 13.

“…This isn’t a Starbucks, we don’t sell that, sorry.” Damien sighs, starting to get fed up.

“Um, so like, why?” The girl says, pressing on.

“…So, this isn’t a Starbucks, if you want that, go to a Starbucks.” He says, his patience fraying.

“Ugh, this place sucks! I’m never coming here again!”

And just like that, the door was slammed and she was gone.

Why did he sign up for this job in the first place.

                               ────﹒★﹒────

“What a shitty day…” Damien mumbles to himself, shutting off all of the lights in the café and locking the door behind him.

He zips up his jacket with a sigh, stuffing his cold hands inside his pockets.

Damien starts walking down to the train, it's quite dark out, which gives him a shiver down his spine.

But seriously, why couldn't he just find a better job? Anything would be better than being treated like crap by people at 8 in the morning, actually.

"God, maybe I should just qui-"

Damien starts murmuring, but than is abruptly cut off by an unfamiliar voice.

"Hey, wait up, you there!"

Huh?

If he was about to get robbed or something on these streets, this definitely wasn't the time.

Damien turns behind him to find a man about his age, perhaps maybe around 5'9"? He has dirty blonde hair with shining green eyes that he could see in the darkest of this night.

He looked as though he just ran a marathon.

"Yes?"

"Hah... sorry, you dropped your wallet, so I had to return it to you!"

He panted as he tucked a loose piece of his hair behind his ear, his hair windswept. He held out Damiens wallet, upon seeing it, a wave of relief shot through him.

"Here..."

"Oh, god, thank you!" He took his wallet and immediately stashed it away securely in his pocket.

"Nooo problem... hah..."

"Uh... are you okay?"

“Never better.” He says, grinning.

Who even is this guy?

“Well, uh, if you have nothing else to say, I’m going to get going. Bye.” Damien says, turning back on his route to the train.

“Wait!”

“What is it?” Damien sighs, honestly just wanting to get back home.

“What’s your name?”

Eh? What?

“Uh… why?”

“Cuz.”

“Not telling you man, bye now.” Damien says, walking back with a wave behind him.
