Chapter Text
The music and literature club has been at each other's throat ever since Martin Edward and Juhoon Kim became the presidents.
The music club would purposely play their loud music knowing that the literature club's room is just beside them.
The literature club would then take revenge by littering the music club's room with crumpled papers.
The two presidents would always barge in at the opposite club's room and complain about their behavior.
Every club president meeting, Juhoon would always roll his eyes whenever Martin talked. As if he was bored the moment Martin opened his mouth. Meanwhile, while Juhoon talked about his plans for the literature club, Martin would voluntarily interrupt him which made Juhoon's blood boil.
Even on hallways, Juhoon would glare at Martin whilst Martin purposely blocks his way.
Their mutual friends—Seonghyeon, Keonho, and James—had long stopped trying to understand the feud. These days, they simply watched from a safe distance, ready to intervene if either president finally decided to commit murder.
Seonghyeon spoke up. "Juhoon, come on. We have to discuss the new plans for the literature club. And Martin, stop annoying Juhoon."
"You seriously think Martin would listen?" James spoke.
"Can you two just kiss?" Keonho added.
That made the two presidents look ay Keonho with a frown. That caught Keonho off guard.
Seonghyeon dragged Juhoon to the literature club room while James and Keonho went to the music club room with Martin.
__________
Today was a good day.
At least for Juhoon—it was. He aced not one, but two tests. Someone had secretly gave him a banana milk during lunch. James teased him but Juhoon just excused it as a secret admirer.
Since everything was going well, he decided to stay after class and read inside the literature club room. But his day was immediately ruined when he heard the sounds of guitar strums from the other door.
He stood up and walked over to the other room.
When he saw Martin by himself, he closed the door and glared at him as he got closer.
"What now, President Kim?”
Juhoon crossed his arms and continued glaring at him.
"Your guitar is too loud."
"Really?"
"No."
Before Martin could answer, Juhoon walked over and stood between his legs.
Martin looked up at him with a smug on his face before pulling Juhoon on his lap, hugging his waist.
Juhoon's frown was immediately replaced by a smile.
That's right. Despite them being on each other's throats all the time, they're also on each other's side behind closed doors.
"What if someone sees?" Juhoon asked.
"I really don't care, baby." Martin replied.
"Anyways, you got the banana milk I bought for you earlier?" Martin asked while brushing Juhoon's hair.
"Mhm, James kept teasing me so I told him it might be from a secret admirer." He replied.
"So i'm a secret admirer now, baby?" Martin asked.
"I mean, technically, you are..." Juhoon replied before chuckling.
Martin rolled his eyes and placed a kiss on Juhoon's cheek.
"Spend the night at my place?" Martin asked Juhoon while his hands rested at Juhoon's waist.
Juhoon nodded and said, "I miss you, my giraffe baby."
Martin's whole face was red. He placed another kiss on Juhoon's jaw.
Martin was going to leave another kiss on Juhoon's neck when someone called out his name from the hallway.
"MARTIN!"
The both of them already knew it was Keonho. They pushed off each other and stood up. Acting like they've been arguing for a few minutes.
James opened the door and was surprised when the two of his friends stood there glaring at each other.
"Holy shit, you guys are both alive. Thank god we came in before you guys killed each other." Seonghyeon said.
"What self-control you guys have, i'm actually so proud." Keonho added.
"Why are you even here, Juhoon?" James asked.
"He was playing his guitar too loud." Juhoon said.
"You could've left, the fuck?" Martin bit back. Which made Juhoon face Martin with a frown. Before he could even speak, James interrupted them.
"Okay okay, enough. Please. Let's just all get ice cream."
Their friends really didn't mind how the two of them hated each other, as long as they get to hangout.
Once they reached the ice cream place, Martin sat far away from Juhoon. Like the way it always was.
They were having a good time at first.
When Juhoon tried to talk, Martin made snarky comments which made Juhoon irritated.
"Would it kill you to not annoy Juhoon for once?" Keonho asked with ice cream in his mouth.
"Yes, because he's an attention seeker." Juhoon answered for him.
"Wow, you're one to talk. Who's the one that keeps giving students stupid pamphlets to visit their ugly ass club room?" Martin answered.
Seonghyeon cut Martin off before they actually kill each other.
"Enough, please. Let's just all go home."
They left the shop and went their separate ways except for Juhoon who was walking with Martin.
Once they reached Martin's apartment, he dragged Juhoon to his room and sat on the bed.
"Stupid pamphlets, huh?" Juhoon muttered.
Martin chuckled and pulled Juhoon to sit on his lap again.
"I didn't mean that, baby. I think they're beautiful." Martin said.
"And the ugly ass club room? I designed that, you know...?" Juhoon quietly said again.
Martin cooed at Juhoon's words.
"Baby, I didn't mean it. Are you sulking?" He asked Juhoon.
Juhoon faintly nodded before burying his face on Martin's neck.
"Oh my jju..." Martin placed a kiss on his forehead.
"It took me a week to design that by myself..." Juhoon said quietly, face still buried on Martin's neck.
Martin let out a laugh. How could his jju be so cute?
"Look at me, baby." Martin said to Juhoon.
Juhoon slowly looked up.
"I didn't mean any of those, okay jju?"
"They're not stupid...?"
"They're not, baby."
Martin tucked his hair behind his ear.
"It's just... You act so good sometimes, you know?" Julian muttered.
That made Martin laugh.
"Really?" He added.
Juhoon nodded.
"I'm sorry, baby. I just have to annoy you every minute when everyone is around."
"And I have to act like I hate your guts." Juhoon said.
"Yeah," Martin agreed.
"But the truth is, you're actually head over heels for me." Martin added.
Juhoon smiled at Martin mischievously "You don't know that."
That made Martin frown which led to Juhoon laughing at his face.
He wrapped his arms around Martin's neck and left a peck on his lips.
"You're forgiven." He said.
Martin's face bright up again.
"Already?" Martin asked.
"Don't push your luck." Juhoon said, making Martin hug him tighter.
__________
The following days, they acted like they usually do. Testing each other's patience in public while kissing each other to death in private.
James invited his friends to play basketball at the school gymnasium. After nearly two hours of playing, the five of them collapsed onto the bleachers to catch their breath.
While they were resting, Martin cracked up a joke.
Juhoon laughed along with Seonghyeon, Keonho, and James.
Four pair of eyes landed at Juhoon.
He laughed at Martin's joke.
"Since when do you laugh at his jokes?" Seonghyeon raised his eyebrow.
"Did you hit your head earlier?" James asked.
"Are you sure your head wasn't hit by the ball?" Keonho asked too.
Juhoon just rolled his eyes at them.
"I guess nerds have a little humor too." Martin said with a grin on his face.
"Being called a 'nerd' is not an insult." Juhoon talked back.
"It is when I say it."
Seonghyeon sighed loudly. "...There they go again."
"Whatever. I'm gonna get water." Juhoon stood up and went to the nearest vending machine.
Martin stood up too. "Whatever then. I'm going to get something from the locker room."
While Juhoon was about to reach for his wallet, he realized he left it inside his bag. He turned around and saw Martin making his way towards him. Juhoon looked around, in case anyone could see them.
"Left your wallet, jju?" Martin asked.
Juhoon nodded. Martin immediately reached for his wallet and gave Juhoon money for water.
"You laughed at my joke earlier." Martin mentioned while Juhoon was reaching down to get his drink.
"Next time, don't be so funny." Juhoon said before taking a sip from his bottle.
"You know that water isn't free, right?" Martin asked him.
Juhoon raised his eyebrow. "I left my wallet-"
"I accept kisses too." Martin interrupted him.
Juhoon rolled his eyes before taking a look around the hallways. He tiptoed and placed a kiss on Martin's cheek.
Martin's smile almost reached his ears from how happy he was.
"Worth every peso,” he murmured.
Juhoon rolled his eyes again, though the corners of his lips betrayed him.
"Let’s go before someone sees us."
Martin only smiled wider as he followed behind him.
_________
A few days passed. Nothing changed.
They still threw sarcastic remarks at each other whenever they were in the same room.
And every single time, James, Keonho, and Seonghyeon would sigh, wondering if the two would ever get along.
Today was no different.
After Juhoon and Seonghyeon had a meeting inside the literature club room with the other members, James invited them inside the music club room.
"How'd your meeting go?" James asked the two as soon as they entered the room next door.
"It went great. All the members liked Juhoon's proposal for this upcoming month." Seonghyeon answered.
The two sat down on a bean bag.
"I wish I was as literate as Juhoon." Keonho added.
"Why would you want to be a know-it-all?" Martin snickered.
James snorted. "Here it starts."
"If being a useful president means getting to be a know-it-all, then so be it." Juhoon talked back.
Martin scoffed.
"You really can’t go five minutes without reminding everyone how capable you are, huh?"
"I answered your question."
"You always have an answer."
"Because someone has to."
"Typical nerd."
"Typical asshole."
"No one would pay attention to you if you weren't the top of your class." Martin followed that with a dry laugh.
"Martin." James sternly called out Martin.
Juhoon fell silent. He picked up his bag.
"I'm heading home." He said before leaving the room.
The room fell silent.
"That was kind of harsh..." Seonghyeon frowned.
"He'll live." Martin quietly said. Clearly guilty.
Juhoon was tearing up as walked down the hallway. Thank god there weren't much students.
Those weren't just simple words.
A week ago, Juhoon had confessed something while they were lying together in Martin’s room.
"Sometimes I wonder if people only approach me because i'm useful."
Martin frowned at his words and planted kisses all over his face, followed with reassuring words after.
But today, Martin made him believe it.
