So High School

Summary:

Pyotr Parker is finally ready to join modern society. By that he means; he convinced the Avengers to let him use his powers for good, he’s being forced to go to high school, and he’s experiencing the consequences of a modern crush.

At least the food isn’t terrible.

Takes place months after ‘The only thing left is the Manuscript’

Chapter 1: First day?

Notes:

I’d also recommend Time to go home(with the whole Acadec team) by NobodyNose13. Not canon but I like it.

Also please read the other fic first, it won’t make sense otherwise

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Tony might be one of the craziest people Pyotr knows. Don’t get him wrong, Tony is a genius, but a crazy one.

“I think it would be a good opportunity for you, Pete,” Tony is still trying to convince him the idea.

Regarding the Pete nickname; multiple people were having some trouble pronouncing his name and at some point ‘Pete’ just entered everyone’s vocabulary.

“I do not want to go to high school,” Pyotr frowns.

“You need to interact with people your own age,” Tony reasons.

“So I’ll go to a nursing home,” Pyotr responds dryly.

Bucky suppresses a chuckle, “Seriously kid, You should give it a try.”

Pyotr mocked offense, “You are on his side now.”

“No.” Bucky says defensively

“You are trying to kill me, with high school.”

“You never went to high school, and you need to adapt to modern society,” Tony takes a seat across from Pyotr.

I barely went to any school, Pyotr thinks. Out loud he says, “How would it even work? You fake my identity. Isn’t that illegal?” Tony and Bucky give small nods. “I’m trying to be good,” Pyotr bursts.

“You are good, you just need to talk to someone who isn’t,” Bucky makes a vague gesture around the room, “well, us.”

“I talk to Shuri all the time,” Pyotr retorts.

Bucky glares at him, “She doesn’t count, she’s a princess.”

Tony leans forward, “There’s a really great school close to here. It’s science based and I think you should try it.”

Pyotr squinted at him, “I’ll try it.”

.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.

That is the sad story of how Pyotr ends up a month and a half later sitting in first period AP bio at 9:00am in Midtown High School of Science and Technology.

He has his cover story memorized, his American accent perfected, and Wanda’s crash course of American teenage culture running through his head.

His name his name is Peter Parker, he’s 15 years old, he’s in 10th grade, his family moved around a lot while he was a kid but now they’re settled in New York. His parents are listed as Bucky and Natasha (under cover names).

His first four periods go pretty smoothly. He keeps watching everyone in school and analyzing them, a habit leftover from his spy days, something he wishes he would stop doing.

At lunch he tries to find the least occupied table. There’s one table in the corner with only 2 people sitting at it; he sits as far away from them as possible.

One of those kids slides to where Pyotr is sitting and reading. “Hi, I’m Ned,” The kid smiles, “You’re new right?” Ned looks very sweet, he might be Asian, and he doesn’t look like a threat, Pyotr criticizes himself for that.

Pyotr sets his book down, “Yeah, I’m Peter.”

“Watcha reading?” Ned kindly asks.

“The Hobbit,” Pyotr responds. Bucky was making him read it, apparently it was his favorite book back in the day.

“Hey odd question, are you doing any extracurriculars?” Pyotr can tell Ned is very excited.

He really wasn’t planning on doing anything afterschool, he didn’t be here in general, why should stay for longer? “Not really, no. Why?”

“I was just wondering if you wanted to join Academic Decathlon, I’m in it, MJ over there is in it,” The other boy at the table gives a curt wave, “and we need a few more people. I saw you in two of my classes and decided to ask.”

“What’s Academic Decathlon?” Gosh he probably looks so stupid.

“Did your old school not have a team?” Ned asks.

“I was, uh, homeschooled for my freshman year, my family used to move around,” He explains.

“Well it’s like a thing where we test a bunch of types of knowledge. Everything from geography to Greek mythology.” Ned looks so excited.

“Sounds interesting, I guess I could give it a try.” Pyotr does know a lot of random facts from being forced to travel so much.

Ned turns to the other dude and gives him a big thumbs up. He responds with a slightly embarrassed smile.

“Hi, I’m Peter,” he calls to him.

“MJ,” the person responds. MJ looks vaguely tall, even sitting, his hair is neatly cropped short, his deep brown eyes are similar his sun-kissed brown skin, and… Pyotr doesn’t like where this train of thought is going.

“Our introductory meeting is tomorrow, hope to see you there!” Ned says.

What did he get himself into?

.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

Sam and Bucky pick him up from school that afternoon. He climbs into the car he’s pretty sure is actually Tony’s and much more expensive than it looks.

“How was your first day,” Sam asks from the drivers seat. One hand on the wheel, the other on Bucky’s shoulder. Ugh, he forgot they were a couple sometimes.

“It was fine,” Pyotr says while mildly sinking into the back seat.

“Did you make any new friends,” Bucky continues.

Pyotr thinks of Ned and MJ, “Uh yeah, kinda. I got invited to join the Academic Decathlon.”

Bucky turns and smiles at him, “That’s great, when is it?”

“Tomorrow after school, Until 5pm”

“Natasha wants to pick you up tomorrow, so I’ll be sure to tell her,” Bucky says.

The drive is relatively peaceful, Sam is playing some sort of music he really likes that Pyotr is mostly tuning out.

This peace is interrupted by screaming and people stopping their cars. The three men eye each other, fully aware that for people like them, normal days don’t last.

Sam and Bucky jump out of the car immediately. Pyotr takes a second to grab a pair of sunglasses and pull his magnetic hood over his head (yes he’s wearing a zip up hoodie in late August, he gets cold easily)

He jumps out of the back seat and there is a man in a scorpion costume. He has to quiet a laugh at the man’s ridiculous garb.

Pyotr releases his spider limbs and flips closer.

“What are you doing here,” Sam calls while hiding behind a car.

“Can’t let you useless fools die,” Pyotr laughs, no longer trying to hide his accent. He uses a web to grab the man’s mechanical tail to the road.

Bucky uses his momentary confusion to send a knife into his shoulder, because of course he has a knife, “Oh come on we’re not useless. Sam can drive,” Bucky yells while dodging an attack from the now free tail.

Pyotr flips over the angry man, “I could learn,” he drives one of his spider limbs into the back of the man’s knee.

“Will you shut up,” The angry man screams.

“No can do,” Pyotr quips. Sam comes out of nowhere, he grabs the knife of the man’s shoulder and tosses it to it to Pyotr. Pyotr throws it into the man’s other shoulder. The man falls and Pyotr webs him up.

Bucky leans over him, “Who are you?” He questions.

The man struggles, “I am,” he grunts, “The Scorpion!”

Pyotr dead face stares at Sam and Bucky, “That’s so dumb.”

Sam agrees, “So dumb.”

That’s when Pyotr the terribly loud noise of Tony’s repulsers as he lands next to them, “What happened here?”

Pyotr shrugs. The ‘Scorpion’ writhes in his restraints, “Fuck you, Tony Stark,” he screams.

Tony laughs a bit, “He has some strong opinions.”

“We should probably get him out of here, I’m not sure how long the webs will last,” Bucky says tactically.

“Got it,” Tony responds. He grabs the guy by the webs and flies off.

Pyotr adjusts his hood, its mostly stayed on he’s just making sure, “Perfect timing, huh,” he jokes.

Sam huffs, “Let’s go home.”
