Work Text:
Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue?
You were always told that gods are made to be worshiped, not to be friends with
Yet….
They both lied in the grass together, hands behind their heads to keep the grass out of their hair. The gray sky becoming more and more black by the second from the sun setting.
They were human and a god, laughing about each other’s past mistakes; what good does it go to dwell on them?
They prayed
And dreamed
And hoped
It was always said you eyes were the windows to the soul
The man turned
The mortal looked into the eyes of this god and saw a thousand angels preparing for battle with their shield and spear at the ready.
All were dressed in a white robes of satin with armor covering their holy wings
He did not know what war they were preparing for.
And the god peered into the mortals eyes and saw and beautiful hue that could only be described as more stunning than heaven. How could he ignore those beautiful tinted windows to the soul
His heart was so beautiful it had stained glass around its entrance
Like a door at a cathedral
Like a thousand snowflakes falling at once and a perfect one lands on your arm
Like a ray of light shining through the trees
How could he ever forget those beautiful eyes?
Now the mortal was asleep beside God, tired from the joy of being with a friend.
God saw that the sky was a dull color. Nothing around the land complemented it well enough
He wanted to be able to see that beautiful color every second of his eternity
The God had a plan
When the human awoke, it was still slightly dark around him, with a thick fog covering the trees.
He stepped up to realize that the god was still there, lying beside him
So he waited for sunrise to wake him
That’s when he saw it
Blue surrounded by a beautiful orange with purples and red complementing each others beauty like the pollen on a flower
The suns finger of light came through so beautifully to bless anything it touched with a holy color
And the fauna and flora arose to the sight and all creatures stared in wonder and awe.
And the man finally understood what it meant to be loved by a god
