Morning Stubble

Summary:

A morning fluff fanfic for Reid and Christina 🫪🫶❤

Work Text:

The morning light spilled through Asheville, North Carolina as the sun rises over the horizon—painting the inside of Reid's and Christina's cabin in bright yellows and soft oranges. They were 3 days in to their honeymoon at her home state, and they were absolutely enjoying every second of it.

Christina was already awake, but kept her eyes closed as she scratches her husband's morning stubble reverently—Reid has just shaved the night before—and she can't choose between him with a clean-shaven face or with a stubble, because he looks good with either two; and she's lucky to have both.

She snuggled closer, tucking her face by the crook of his neck and wrapping an arm around his midsection whilst continuing to run her hand on Reid's jaw. Moments later, she felt his arm tightening around her before leaning his chin down at the crown of her head—she then let a contented sigh at his warmth.

“Good morning.” He said in a gruffy voice, laced with sleepiness. “Good morning to you, too.” She replied, turning her face up until she was at eye-level with him.

His ocean blues have that unmistakable twinkle when they met with her hazel browns, like constellations on the night sky. He leaned into her touch, placing a hand over hers before drawing circles with his thumb over her knuckles.

“You like my morning stubble that much?” He teased, making Christina blush slightly pink before grinning. “Have I told you that you look good with them?” She asked.

Reid chuckles, the sound rumbling through his chest as he props on one elbow and into two as he pinned Christina down to the bed. He rested his forehead against hers, careful not to put too much pressure before closing the gap and kissed her slowly, as if they have all the time in the world.

Christina's hand snaked its way from his jaw, his chest and to the back of his neck as they deepened the kiss. Ultimately, they broke apart to chase their breaths.

Reid smiled a small but genuine smile, one reserved only for her, before giving the tip of her nose a peck. “Breakfast?” He lets her know.

“Avocados on toast and bacons, please.” She answered, now also smiling at his thoughtfulness. “And dark roast coffee, for you.” He added, he always remembered what she likes and how to make it into her liking.

He stood up from the bed, but not before giving Christina another peck on the nose and skips along his way to the kitchen like a man who just won the lottery—but honestly? He kind of did.
