Work Text:

Jungkook plugged in his earphones as he fell back on his bed with a sigh. It had been a long day but he had finally managed to submit the art project he'd been working on for months. He'd gone out to celebrate with his classmates with a healthy dose of soju and a lot of junk food. He'd already made up his mind about napping his way through the weekend but now that he was lying on his bed, the fatigue and exhaustion abandoned him--he couldn't sleep. Something felt missing; the bed didn't feel warm enough, the covers not soft enough, his body and mind not tired enough. So he simply plugged in his earphones and decided to drown himself in heartbreaking ballads till he fell asleep. When fifteen minutes passed and sleep still didn't come, he started singing loudly to all the songs playing and he was pretty sure he was way off-key, but he couldn't bring himself to care about his neighbours suffering because of the too-thin walls of his apartment. He felt annoyed honestly, because he'd been dreaming about the day he'd finally get to relax after all the hard work but now that it was here, he couldn't even sleep when he wanted to-that too when he was extremely drunk. He scoffed and shifted so that now his face was buried in the pillow.

He felt a tap on his shoulder, once, twice, but his alcohol influenced mind ignored it. A hard slap to his shoulder and his earphones were pulled out.

"Ow!" He turned around then, ready to beat up whoever interrupted his 'heartbroken songs session' (for some odd reason he expected it to be his neighbour Taehyung who had a spare key to his apartment , but he still can't understand why he expected it to be him-probably because that boy liked to show up everywhere) but all feelings of hostility vanished as soon as he laid eyes on the intruder.

Park Jimin stood before him with his arms crossed across his chest and a glorious pout. His black hair looked slightly windswept and the tip of his nose red as a result of a probable walk out in the cold. "Hyung!" Jungkook happily shouted and sat up straight, "I thought you were gonna be late hyung." Jimin's pout became even more pronounced and honestly, Jungkook wanted to clap and squeal and pinch the elder's cheek but he refrained from doing anything of that sort- his boyfriend was trying to be angry, he needed to respect that. That lasted for about 0.2 seconds before Jungkook proceeded to do just that.

"Yah! Jimin angrily swatted his arms away, " Jeon Jungkook, I was trying to be early for your sake. You didn't even open the door for me!"

"But you have a key hyung." Jungkook replied with a lopsided grin and pulled Jimin down to make him sit on his lap,-the elder's arm flailed around helplessly as he let out a whine of protest before plopping down on losing his balance. Having being caged in the younger's much stronger arms, his back against Jungkook's chest, Jimin resorted to slapping his boyfriend's shoulder,"My hands were full! Do you have any idea how much trouble I had trying to juggle the packets and get my keys out and like, actually put them in the lock?!"

Jungkook eyes followed the movements of the elder's arms a second too late as they emphasized each action that Jimin verbally described--the elder moved his hands so much, it was adorable! Jungkook thought in a daze.

"Sorry Hyung!" And Jungkook planted a big, sloppy kiss to his boyfriend's cheek. Jimin's nose scrunched up adorably, "Yah!," Jimin pulled away slightly and mused out loud," How drunk are you?" And Jungkook simply giggled. Jimin tried to stand up then but it was almost impossible to move because the younger was just too strong. He gave up with a sigh and laid his head back on Jungkook's shoulder; the younger simply grinned down at him.

"Someone looks happy." Jimin mumbled against Jungkook's neck with a small smile and the younger happily nodded, "its done! The project and teacher Lee looked impressed, I'm so happy hyung!" Jimin smiled at the younger's slurred words. Sober-Jungkook would be horrified to see this hyperactive, extra-cute version of himself but Jimin loved every side of him and made sure to make the most of the situation.

"This is why I came home early, you know." Jungkook bent down so he could nuzzle his face against Jimin's neck and he could feel the younger's smile. "You're the best Hyung," he whispered and pressed a kiss to the elder's skin. A big smile took over Jimin's face too. Drunk-Jungkook was very generous with compliments, he remembered, along with being extra clingy and childish.

"Now let me go, you brat, I'm hungry!" Jungkook obliged this time around, and let Jimin stand up, himself following suit.

"Did you get food Hyung?"

"Hmm. Chinese."

Jungkook let out a sound that resembled a cross between a dolphin's laugh and the cry of an injured whale and clutched his chest in mock hurt,"b-but I love Chinese!"

"I know~" Jimin said in a sing-song voice and Jungkook pouted harder to look pitiable, "But I already ate Hyung!"

"I know that too~ this is for me. I'm hungry."

"Wait a second, Hyung, how much did you get that your hands were completely full?"

"I did not just get food-I actually got you something." Jungkook's eyes widened in excitement at the news and Jimin felt the urge to mess with him a little. With a tiny smile hidden from the younger, he announced how great it was but sadly, he wasn't going to give it the younger anymore.

Jungkook whined so loud that he would've given bus horns an inferiority complex, "but whyyyyy Hyung?" Drunk-Jungkook whined a lot too. Very loud whining, Jimin decided.

"Because you probably didn't want it, you didn't even open the door for me."

"Ah I'm sorry Hyung. Forgive me?" Jungkook did his best puppy eyes and Jimin simply rolled his.

"Nope." He said as he popped the p.

"Hyung~" Jungkook had now successfully followed him all the way to their kitchen, all the while hanging on to Jimin's waist like a koala. After a few more minutes of whining, Jimin had finally given up (because it was difficult to move-that boy was heavy! and definitely not because Jungkook was being so cute. Nope. Never.)

Jimin went back to the rack by the coat-hanger where he'd dumped the bag while trying to free his hands as soon as possible when he came in. He stopped when he saw it, hesitantly reaching out for the big plastic bag. He'd simply got it for Jungkook because he liked it and he really wanted to gift the younger something. But it was nothing compared to the branded, expensive things Jungkook was used to wearing. Reluctantly, Jimin went back to the kitchen where Jungkook was waiting for him with a big smile on his face.

"Here you go." He handed it over to Jungkook, who happily grabbed the bag and started exploring its contents, "its not a big deal. I just thought you'd worked hard so you deserved a gift or something. Its nothing great really-" Jimin stopped abruptly, biting his lips in anticipation as Jungkook had finally got his hands on the big, white fluffy sweater he had got for him. Jungkook's face was unreadable when he looked at Jimin and the elder sighed-slightly disappointed, "I told you Kookie, its no big deal. I'm sorry, should I get you something else? I-" Jimin was interrupted by a pair of soft lips pressing against his own. At this point, Jimin couldnt even bring himself to care about the younger's mouth smelling and tasing of soju. Jungkook's hands wrapped around his waist and Jimin latched onto the younger's neck with one hand, the other running through his boyfriend's raven locks. He sighed contently when they pulled away, "Thanks hyung, this means a lot to me" and Jungkook pecked him on the corner of his mouth, pulling away with a grin.

Jimin smiled, "I'm sorry I couldn't get anything better-"

"Shh no Hyung. This is perfect. Here, let me put it on."

"Jungkook-ah, you don't have to"

There, Jungkook did that sound thing again-the one that resembled the cry of an injured whale and Jimin snorted at the noise. He put on the white sweater after he'd discarded the hoodie he earlier had on (only after struggling with it for 2 whole minutes and refusing to take Jimin's help) and beamed at Jimin, "Its so soft Hyung. I bet I look awesome." Drunk-Jungkook, Jimin decided, was also a bit narcissistic.

"You do." Jimin replied and pulled him in for another kiss, and he was embarrassed at how quick it turned into a very heated one but it was rudely interrupted by his stomach growling for attention.

Jungkook giggled yet again, "You should eat Hyung."

They settled on their makeshift dinner table with their food, Jimin trying to eat and simultaneously playfully swatting away Jungkook's hand that tried to sneak in some bites, "but hyung~ you can't eat Chinese without me!"

"Yah! you brat, you just ate-let me have my food! I'm not giving you one more bite!"

But who was he kidding, Jimin ended up feeding half of his dinner to Jungkook anyway and that too with his own willing hands.

Jungkook felt a burst of warmth in his heart as Jimin listened to him talk about his project with that smile of his that always drove Jungkook crazy. Jimin's eyes were upturned into crescents, his cheeks bunched up cutely and all his teeth showing-the crooked front one was Jungkook's favourite. He loved the way the elder laughed, covering his face with his tiny hands as he almost fell over. He loved the way Jimin fondly looked at him and smiled proudly when he told him of his success with the project-as if it were his own. Of course he didn't miss the way Jimin fed him half of his food even though after a while it was Jungkook who told him he wasn't hungry.

"Come on Jungkookie, you must be tired, let's go sleep." Jimin said as he gathered up the empty containers from the table.

"Nooooo Hyung!" Jungkook stood up and stumbled forward till Jimin caught him and steadied him. Jimin shook his head but Jungkook simply lunged forward again and dropped his entire body weight on the elder as he hugged him, "Ah-ahhhh Jungkook, you're too heavy!"

Jungkook backed off with a scoff, "I never say that when I have to carry you." Jungkook was pouting and Jimin simply couldn't help himself, he cooed at the younger who whined even louder than the last time. Jimin left him in order to clean up and the younger stumbled off to god knows where while Jimin tidied the kitchen. When he came back with a glass of water for Jungkook, he found out where he had gone--

"Hyung~ dance with me!" Jungkook's phone blared out girl group songs while the younger stumbled around trying to copy the choreography that Jimin was sure he had already perfected in the sober state but couldn't keep up with in his present condition. Jimin threw his head back and laughed while Jungkook continued with exaggerated cute gestures and body rolls. Soon, the younger was grabbing Jimin to make him dance along too but the elder could do nothing much except laugh hard while Jungkook uselessly tried to make him move by holding onto his wrists and swinging around his arms.

"Come on Kookie." Jimin sighed happily once he'd gotten Jungkook to calm down and turn off the music, he didn't want trouble from the land lord after all. He grabbed Jungkook's arm to pull him back to their bedroom,

"Not until you give me a hug." Jungkook put his hands on his waist like a petulant child.

Jimin hugged him briefly and patted his back twice before pulling away.

"Kiss."

Jimin kissed him on his right cheek with a short giggle.

"This one too." Jungkook shoved his left cheek in Jimin's face and with a bright smile threatening to take over, Jimin kissed him.

Jungkook then looked right at him- cross-eyed, lips pouting comically and mumbled through them, "here."

Jimin giggled again but obliged and Jungkook finally let him drag him back to their bed.

Both of them laid down, Jungkook refusing to take off his new sweater because, 'its so soft Hyung, and warm, just like you~'. Yeah, Drunk-Jungkook was also brutally honest with absolutely no brain-to-mouth filter. Jimin saved this particular piece of information to use as future blackmail material.

They lay down with their legs tangled together comfortably, Jimin's smaller frame enveloped in Jungkook's arms. The younger continued watching him with a dopey look on his face till Jimin blushed under all the attention and hid his face in the younger's chest.

"Good night hyung." Jungkook whispered as he pressed a light kiss to the elder's forehead.

"You know Kookie,"

"Hmm."

"We could do something else, if you want, you know, to celebrate?"

"Hmm."

Jimin's eyebrows shot up at the lack of a more excited response, because usually when he suggested something of the kind-Jungkook sat right up and beamed in excitement. He looked over at his lover's face only to find him sound asleep, lips parted slightly so he almost looked like he was smiling.

It was because the moment he lay in the bed with Jimin in his arms, Jungkook realised what was previously missing. The bed felt soft now--he felt warm; because Jimin was in his arms and everything was as it was supposed to be. And that was enough for the tiredness to finally seep into his flesh and settle into his bones; it felt like a calming sensation trickling through his body and mind and Jungkook finally felt at ease. With a small sigh, Jungkook pressed closer to the source of warmth in his arms and escaped into the land of his dreams, finally content.
