not child anymore

Summary:

“You’re still too childish, Kyungmin.”

His ex’s voice echoed, cruel and sharp. And something in Kyungmin snapped taut.

So he listened to his instincts instead of his shame. His arms came around Dohoon’s waist, pulling him in until there was no space left between them. “Show me, hyung.”

Notes:

here’s to anyone who went crazy because of dohoon’s red hair and kyungmin’s (live) get it now.

Work Text:

“Let’s break up.”

It happened so fast. Kyungmin didn’t even get a chance to ask how his boyfriend had been, the same boyfriend who hadn’t said a word to him in two months.

“Why?”

His boyfriend. His ex now. Exhaled like the weight of six months was sitting on his chest. “You’re still too childish, Kyungmin. I don’t think we’re right for each other.”

The words didn’t just hit his head. They landed in his chest, in his pride, and left a bruise. Six months. Six months of something that felt good, steady, real. And then lightning in broad daylight. He never thought it would end like this.

Back at the dorm, his roommate was drying his hair. Kyungmin couldn’t help but notice the change.

“You dyed your hair, hyung?”

Dohoon met his eyes through the mirror and smirked. Red. Like sin and warning all at once. “Red suits me, doesn’t it?”

“You look like a brat.”

The dryer clicked off. Dohoon put it away, stood, and turned to face him fully.

“A brat?”

Kyungmin was perched on the edge of his bed, stretching out the tension in his legs and arms. “You look like a naughty brat.”

By that, Kyungmin thought of a naughty kid who’d get into fights easily.

Anyway, Dohoon’s brow arched. He moved closer, slow, deliberate, until he was standing right in front of Kyungmin with his arms crossed over his chest. “As if you’d know what a naughty looks like.”

Kyungmin matched him. Brow up. Voice steady. “Oh, I know.”

“Do you?” Dohoon didn’t warn him. He just straddled right onto Kyungmin’s lap, his hands resting warm on Kyungmin’s shoulders. “Have you ever seen it with your own eyes?”

Kyungmin froze. His mouth went dry. All he could do was swallow, hard, around the sudden heat in his throat.

“I… don’t think so,” he managed.

Dohoon looked almost obscene like that. Half-wet red bangs falling over his forehead, exposing skin that caught the light. What a beautiful brat. If Kyungmin hadn’t realized it before, it was impossible not to now. It hit him all at once, heavy and undeniable.

Dohoon’s fingers traced down from his shoulder to the line of Kyungmin’s collarbone, feather-light and maddening.

“Want me to show you?” His voice dropped. Lower. Slower. It shouldn’t have sounded like that.

You’re still too childish, Kyungmin.

His ex’s voice echoed, cruel and sharp. And something in Kyungmin snapped taut.

So he listened to his instincts instead of his shame. His arms came around Dohoon’s waist, pulling him in until there was no space left between them. “Show me, hyung.”

Almost like a plea.

Shock flickered across Dohoon’s eyes. He’d meant it as a tease. He hadn’t expected Kyungmin to actually rise to it.

They were already there. Too close. Heat pooling between them, skin catching on skin, breathing that had gone uneven and loud in the quiet dorm.

It felt too good to waste. Too charged to pretend this wasn’t happening and pull away now.

So Dohoon’s hand slid up to Kyungmin’s nape. Not hard, just firm enough to control him. He pressed their foreheads together until some sight of his face disappeared and all he could see were Kyungmin’s lips, parted, wet, waiting.

“Are you sure?” Dohoon murmured, half-hearted, like he was giving Kyungmin one last way out. “It’s not too late to say stop.”

You’re still too childish, Kyungmin.

Fuck. That voice again. It struck a match and burned the last red light in his head to ash.

“Don’t stop.”

The words came out rough, sure.

Dohoon’s smile curled slow and pleased. His fingers threaded into Kyungmin’s hair, tugging him closer, and then he was kissing him. Hot, deep, deliberate. Like he’d been waiting for permission and meant to use every second of it.

This wasn’t Kyungmin’s first kiss. But it was the first time someone had kissed him with such desperate hunger.

His lips were claimed by another pair, drawn in and sucked with aching intensity before being released, only to be captured again moments later. Kyungmin did his best to keep up, stealing fleeting chances to catch Dohoon’s lips and savor them in return. What began as a series of tentative kisses soon deepened into something far more consuming. Kyungmin found himself responding with growing fervor, losing himself in the taste of his roommate’s lips. His uneven rhythm coaxed a soft, involuntary moan from Dohoon before the older man finally pulled away.

“Boy, relax,” Dohoon reminded him between ragged breaths.

Kyungmin looked up at Dohoon’s face, now nearly as flushed as his crimson hair, and swore he had never seen his roommate look this breathtaking before.

Dohoon’s swollen lips remained slightly parted as he struggled to catch his breath. The sight alone made Kyungmin swallow hard. He must have been blind not to realize all this time just how beautiful Kim Dohoon truly was.

Instead of resuming the kiss, Dohoon gently took both of Kyungmin’s hands and guided them around his waist, hidden beneath the thin fabric of his T-shirt. The trace of Kyungmin’s touch sent a visible shiver through him, drawing his head back and leaving the graceful line of his neck exposed.

“Go for it, Kyungmin,” Dohoon commanded in a hoarse voice, and Kyungmin obeyed without hesitation.

He pressed his lips to Dohoon’s neck, lingering just long enough to leave warm, damp kisses in his wake. The older man answered with a muffled moan, a sound that only spurred Kyungmin on. He wandered across every patch of exposed skin he could find, kissing, tasting, and nipping gently.

Overwhelmed by the sensation, Dohoon sought Kyungmin’s lips once more, pouring everything he couldn’t say into another kiss. They met each other with equal intensity, unwilling to surrender an inch. The kiss grew deep and breathless, neither willing to pull away until one of them finally choked on a hurried breath and broke into a coughing fit.

Seeing the older man struggling to catch his breath, Kyungmin’s panic set in immediately. He carefully lifted Dohoon off his lap and guided him onto the bed before hurrying to grab a glass of water.

Dohoon emptied it in a single swallow.

After that, silence settled awkwardly between them.

Dohoon sat there with the empty glass still in his hand while Kyungmin stood in front of him, feeling utterly foolish.

“I’m going to the bathroom.”

After a long moment, Dohoon was the first to move. He rose to his feet, met Kyungmin’s eyes with a nervous glance, then quietly walked past him.

Even after Dohoon disappeared, Kyungmin’s heart refused to slow.

He stared at the bathroom door as it clicked shut, the sound of running water soon filling the room. The corner of his lips lifted into a small smile.

What he had just experienced had been incredible. If kissing could feel like that, maybe he should have tried it much sooner.

Maybe he should suggest that Dohoon let them do it more often.
