Chapter Text
Vasilia put the last piece of armor in place. It was absolutely beautiful, obviously as she had made it. There was more work to be done, there was always more work to be done, but for now Vasilia let herself rest and admire her own craftsmanship. It was perfect timing too, as a call came through on her MJWWT from her new entanglement.
“Hello Friend Astra, how are you doing today?” Vasilia greeted.
“Hey évmorfos, I'm ok. I'm at the market actually,” Astra replied, sounding a little stressed.
“Ooooo, did you find anything good?” Vasilia asked, too excited about talking to her to notice.
“Actually yes, I got in a bidding war for Destiny Best’s research journal.” Astra boasted.
“Oh!”
“Yeah, Seki’s gonna be really happy next time I visit her.” Astra flashed her a grin.
“She certainly is,” Vasilia gave her a lovestruck smile back.
“I'm pretty sure I had to fight some actual entomologists for it, but I was like ‘fuck you, I need this for my kid!’ Destiny signed it for her and everything.”
“That's great!” Vasilia encouraged, blushing at Astra calling Naseko her kid.
“It is, but that's not why I called,” Astra continued, nervous once again. Vasilia noticed this time,
“What's going on?”
“I have bad news, so I'm gonna need you to brace yourself ok,” Astra prefaced. Vasilia nodded uncertainly.
“While I was here, I ran into your parents.” Astra winced in anticipation of Vasilia's response.
Vasilia froze. She didn't know what to say, she didn't know what to do, she didn't even know what to think! Her breathing got shallow, and she started feeling lightheaded.
“Di- did they… say they'd, pay me a visit?” Vasilia stuttered. Astra nodded apologetically,
“They did. I told them you and Voslo were busy, but as usual they said you could make time for your parents.”
“Of course they did,” Vasilia grumbled. They always thought they should be the most important thing in their kids' lives.
“The good news is, I only just ran into them, so you can still go somewhere they won't know to look for you.” Astra assured her. Vasilia thought for a minute, she wasn't sure she wanted to leave her dimension. She also want sure she wanted to be around people right now. There was one place she could go where she might be able to try to calm down.
“Do you, do you think I could come stay at Torreli's house?” Vasilia shyly asked. Astra smiled sympathetically,
“Of course sweetie, Torri would be happy to have you.”
“Will you be back there after you're done at the market?” Vasilia asked, giving Astra puppy dog eyes.
“Yes, I'll be there soon,” Astra chuckled. Vasilia sighed with relief,
“Ok. Ok, I'll see you there.”
