Work Text:
Jake leans forward, eyes darting around the screen as he moves the character through the school-themed map. Albert is next to him, breathing loudly in his ear. "Can you interact with the lockers?" He asks.
Jake hums, opening one up. A crooked smile appears on his face. "We're probably gonna have to hide in them later."
Albert grimaces. "Ewww. I hate that."
Jake huffs out a laugh as he openes up another door.
He is visiting Albert in Florida. They're sitting in his cozy orange office and it's like he's being fully encompassed by Albert. Everywhere he looks, everything he touches, is Alberts; he wouldn't have it any other way. Jake sits at Albert's desk, playing on Albert's computer, pressed up against Albert himself. Albert, Albert, Albert. He is drunk on the man.
He is proud to say they've been dating for a few months now, and this is the second time he's visited Albert in that time. They had been planning this the moment Jake left previously.
"This is so expensive, it'd be cheaper if you moved in." Albert whined over call, late at night. Jake's heart fluttered. He's tempted; if Albert demanded right now that he moved in with him, he would.
"And the game the-the noise indicator thingy. C'mon, why'd you have to pick this?" Albert says, snapping Jake out of his thoughts.
"Because it's fun." He replies with a little chuckle.
"Yeah, well, we've been playing for thirty minutes and nothing happened."
"It's suspense!" Jake states, clicking open a door and rushing through.
"It's boring!"
Three things happen very suddenly-
First, there's a loud scream coming from the tinny wired headphones he and Albert are sharing.
Second, there's a louder shriek next to him, making his ear ring a little.
Third, his entire left side is warm.
Jake hardly registers the character died, because Albert is clutching Jake like a lifeline. His head is pressed up against Jake's shoulder and his arms are wrapped over Jake's front and back. It's over after a few seconds; Albert untangles himself from Jake, awkwardly laughing because oh shit they're still recording.
"Paige, or Adam or whoever is gonna be editing this, cut that out." Albert says nervously, eyes darting up to the camera.
"No, no, the people gotta see how much of a pussy you are." He teases. Jake trusts that whomever the editor is will censor his curse.
Albert groans, rubbing at his face. "Shut up. Get back to playing."
Jake's grin widens as he shifts back to the computer.
They die about twelve more times in total- each time, Albert practically jumps into Jake's arms each time- much to Jake's delight.
Their recording session has been over for many hours. They are well fed, well entertained, and comfortable as they lay in Albert's bed together. Jake is on his back, phone in his right hand. Albert is mimicking his earlier fear response; he is plastered to Jake's left side like a koala, his head resting on Jake's shoulder.
"Kay, now tag Caylus and call him a fuckin' loser." Albert says, muffled into Jake's shoulder.
Jake's body shakes with a laugh. He contemplates the idea for a split second before shaking his head no. A giant smile is still clear on his face.
"If you loved me you'd tag Caylus and-" Albert yawns, "-tell him that."
Jake presses a kiss to Albert's mop of soft, brown hair. "Mmm, right." He places his phone down on the nightstand, neglecting to plug it in, in favour of rolling over and herding Albert into his arms. Sleepily, Albert snuggles in deeper. "I love you," Jake says simply, pressing a chaste kiss to Albert's lips.
Albert smiles into their kiss. "Yeah, I love you too." He pauses. "But I knew that was your big plan today. Playin' a horror game to get me scared so you can be my knight in shining armour."
"Was it that obvious?"
Albert just kisses him again.
