New Beginnings
There were quirks to cohabitating. Though, perhaps not as many as both Crowley and Aziraphale had been anticipating.
When one spends the majority of one’s 6,000 years in separate quarters, combining the lives and habits of two immortal beings into one South Downs cottage can be a bit like playing tetris on extreme competitive mode.
Aziraphale was anticipating his magpie-like love of brick-a-brack collected over the centuries since opening the bookshop to clash horribly with Crowley’s more minimalist and stark preferences, and yet, as they unpacked more of their lives together, everything simply…fit.
There were bookshelves upon bookshelves, naturally, and among and in between any available surface, a veritable garden of vibrant, if yet slightly terrified, house plants.
Upon opening one dusty box, Crowley was greeted by an uncommonly colorful flash of fabric. Aziraphale brightened and reached for the rainbow bunting.
“Oh dear me, I haven’t seen this in decades. I don’t suppose it’s a bit out of season for display now?”
“Nah, never too late for Pride, angel,” and Crowley snapped a quick miracle to brighten up the faded colors. It made a lovely addition to the hedges in front of the cottage.
“Colorful start to a colorful life together, I should think,” Aziraphale said, leaning in for a gentle kiss.
