Chapter Text
A short but loud gurgle like noise filled a part of the hallway, catching the attention of Dinah who was peacefully completing a crossword puzzle. She leans to the side and glances at the corridor, trying to find her little girl.
“Axelle? Ax? Where are you, sweetheart?” Dinah calls out.
All she gets as a reply is a giggle and a jumble of what she thinks is words. She places down her crossword book and finds her wheels, skating over to the hallway, turning the corner to find Axelle playing with a doorstop, a gummy smile on her face as she tries to take bites every so often.
“Ax, hey! You can’t eat that, take it out of your mouth! Why are you even trying to-” She pauses.
“What’s this..?”
There was some sort of white item in her mouth. Maybe it was oddly coloured dust or something left in the carpet, right? Dinah tried to gently pull at it, only to be followed by a short whine from Axelle. Could she really be…
“Starlight… She really is teething!”
Dinah is overjoyed by her discovery, managing to pull the doorstop out of the little girls grasp and picks her up, giving her a long and loving cuddle. She calls for her girlfriend, Greaseball, excited to tell her about Axelle’s growing set of baby teeth. She watches as Greaseball drifts on her wheels, turning the corner.
“You called, Doll.”
“Grease, look at her gums.”
“Weird but.. ok..”
Dinah gently pries open Axelle’s mouth, allowing Greaseball to look inside. A small edge of a tooth slightly glimmers in the light as she lets out a little giggle in Dinah’s arms.
“Holy shit. Is she really at that age now, D?”
“Apparently so, and I’m really proud of her.”
Dinah’s face emerges into a warm smile as she looks down at the baby in her arms. She couldn’t believe how fast she was growing up, it felt as if they had only brought her home for the first time yesterday. She must’ve felt like the luckiest parent in the yard.
“We’re keeping her baby teeth when they fall out, right Grease?”
“Keeping what now!?”
