A night we won't remember

Summary:

Avery meets a cool guy while working at McDonald's, and they spend a nice night, which they probably won't remember.

Work Text:

Ahh, how Avery loves his job. Every day from 7 AM (he actually HATES it) to 5 PM (let me tell you how much he's come to hate this job, really.) he serves the goddamn clients McFuckingFries, and it just gets so tiring having those ungrateful MOTHERFU—

yeah.

That day was just another day of this goddamn cycle; it's as if God didn't even want to let him leave, as if it took pleasure in watching him suffer. And he couldn't even scream…

“And what can I get for you?” He asked, still keeping that pleasant smile on his face. Why was he even doing that? Half of his co-workers weren't even trying at this point. His shift is ending soon, happily… like… ten minutes?

“A happy meal with nuggets, fries, and apples… and additional fries. And a Carmel shake. On the spot… Oh, and your number while we're at it?” asked the man. The grown FUCKING MAN. Not only grown, but also a man. Hmff…

“Alright, that'll be… 38,50 polskie złoty.” (Sorry, I don't know dollars), Avery sighed, putting the order into the machine. “And I don't wanna give you my number, but here's your order number.” He gave the man the receipt and went to the kitchen to make his order.

The toys they're adding to the Happy Meals are… my little pony figurines… wait, what if this dude wants to—

He'll just give the guy a Spike figure, it'll be fine…

So he did, pack the happy meal, add the fries, make the shake… Oookay! He’s done.

“Number 42!” He called out from the counter. And the man came to take it.

“Thanks,” he smiled warmly. Somehow, it made something flutter inside Avery’s chest. So fast? Either way, the man checked the receipt that was on the tray and seemed somewhat disappointed. “Aw, no number? I must admit, I thought you were just too shy to do it in person. Either way, I’m Derek, and you?”

“A… Avery…” Oh boy, it was getting to him. At least he wasn’t feeling this OVER FUCKING WHELMING HATRED—

“Avery… Mmmkay, and when do you finish your shift?”

“In, uh, like 5 minutes…?”

“Okay…”Derek hummed and went over to his table, eating peacefully.

Well, this was gonna be an interesting day…

Soon, Avery finished his shift, and he got out of his uniform and took his stuff. Derek already finished eating, it seemed. He was hoping he was waiting for him. Avery always knew he wasn’t fully straight, but it felt weird being so hopeful. Hopeful to see him, and hopeful to not get played.

Just as he waved goodbye to his coworkers and opened the door to leave, he bumped into someone else.

Someone tall.

He looked up at the person and—

“Hastur?!”

“Avery?”

“Avery…?”

“Derek?”

“Hastur?”

“Derek??”

Well, that was a strange encounter.

“You two know each other…?” Avery asked quietly.

“That’s what I should be asking…” Derek muttered, glancing from Hastur to Avery

“Uhm…” Hastur started, “I just wanted to talk, since you're one of my best customers…”

“Customers? So we both…” Derek didn’t DARE to finish

“Yep.” Hastur shrugged.

An hour or so later?

“Hey… do you like… I like you. Like… I uh. You’re cool,” Avery muttered, not really looking at Derek.

“Thaaanks… I think you’re really cute… That’s why I uh… Wanted to talk to you… You know?” Derek answered, laughing to himself. “And now…”

“...?”

“Hmm. I dunno…”

“???”

“Okay, uh, stop staring at me like that… Avery.”

“But… Well… What’s on your mind…?”

“I just wanted to ask if I could… Well, if we could, like—”

“Get to the point…”

“Tch, I mean, if you want to, err… kiss?

“What?”

“Kiss…? You wanna…?”

Wow, you’d think beer would give you courage, but look at Derek. He was smoother when sober. But he’s so adorable right now, at least in Avery’s opinion! Ahah…

“W… What…?!”

“It’s fine if you—”

“No, no, it’s not like I don’t want to, you just… err, caught me off guard, that’s all.” Avery fidgeted with his shirt a bit. Eh, it’s not like he’ll remember it, anyway… Right, he won’t remember it… Ah—?

It was quite sudden, but warm. Derek was so close! Avery’s chin was cupped in the other’s hand, but more importantly… Derek went straight to it! He kissed him! After a moment, Avery reprocirated it.

Soon, Derek pulled back, feeling out of breath. He looked at Avery, kinda… Dazed.

The night went on, whether it was spicy or not, I won’t tell. But…

Avery for sure won’t remember it, but maybe there’s hope this relationship will bloom sometime?

Good thing it's summer vacation, now let's get back to writing what I wish to write
