Work Text:
Thousands of years he had been trapped in the tomb, thousands of years watching the world grow from inside his lonely hell. He'd spent so much time looking out at the world he didn't even predicict that he would be freed.
13 months ago Daniel stumbled into Andy's life, literally. He hadn't meant to do it, Andy knew that, falling down a hole and somehow breaking the powerful sigil that had kept him contained for years was something Daniel had apparently done on accident. A twist of fate is what he called it, mainly due to the fact he had twisted his ankle falling. Andy had no idea how he did it, but he did know that he was perfect, chocolate brown hair that sat slightly curved framing his face in a way that made Andy's heart leap out of his chest, blueish green eyes that in the darkness of the tomb looked like small voids that could see the same as he could and yet, he looked taken a back.
When he first saw him he was so shocked that he didn't move, scared that he would disappear if he did. It wasn't till Daniel reached out a hand asking for help that Andy finally stepped from his containment, his hand touching his, his first human contact in years. It sent spark up his arm that he can still feel if he focues on the memory.
Daniel hadn't asked many questions. Unlike others Andy had met in his life when Daniel found out he was an oracle he only asked one thing.
"You got a place to stay? "
Thats how he was here, watching Daniel from across the room humming the same song he humed everyday. He was pretending to read, catching up on literature was one of his hobbies, he had missed a lot, but now all he could do was stare across the room. He watched as Daniel cooked breakfast, his ugly shirt done up slightly off, something Andy wouldn't tell him till he was almost out the door. He found himself blushing as Daniel sat down and called him over, placing a plate for him. He did it everyday but that didn't stop the blood rush to his cheeks.
He'd never really had a crush before, he had always been to busy predicting wars, telling women their husbands were cheating on them, lying to kings for fun. But now he had all of time in his hands, literally, he'd realised having a crush is awful. He'd get flustered and he'd cover it up with being cruel, most of the time he'd end up hurting Daniel, which made it worse.
He didn't know how to act around him, so he read as many books as he could, hoping maybe one would help him.
He didn't notice that Daniel was talking till he felt a tap on his arm.
"Hey, I asked if you want to go to a party tonight?"
Andy froze, a party would mean talking to new people, sure he technically knew them, he had already seen their lives play out, but that wasn't really a fun conversation topic. But a party would also mean he could hang around Daniel and make it not seem weird, not a crush, just a friend.
"You don't have to, it's just I don't like the idea of you sitting here all alone, you might get drunk off time again and without me here... " Daniel trailed off watching Andy's reaction. He felt it in his face, the soft warmth that rushed though him.
He spoke before he could talk himself out of it.
"I'll be there"
---
There is something intimate about being around people you have known for years and they don't even know your name. It's like a secret that he's really good at keeping. Andy knows all their names, when they get married, who to and how long it will last, he's seen the hundreds of different ways they could die and yet they look at him like he's a stranger.
He's gotten used to that now. Back when he was important everyone knew him, this was much better.
For the first half of the night he stuck by Daniel's side. Sipping one drink (a Pepsi because they only had beer and he wasn't going to drink that). He felt most comfortable around Daniel, who tonight seemed to want to keep him closer then normal.
It wasn't till Halfway through the night that he lost sight of him. Sure he could look for him in the future but there was a chance it was wrong, hundreds of possible futures and only one was correct. He wasn't going to walk through the entire possible future then go look at those spots trying to find Daniel, where ever he was, he was probably safe.
Right now Andy had his own problem, he couldn't breathe. To many people meant go many familiar faces, people he had seen die or get hurt. It was like being surrounded by zombies, all waiting for death to take them. He really should have stayed home, why did he listen to Daniel, why the hell did he think this was a good idea.
He tried to push through the crowd, ignoring the flashes of the future with each face. He felt sick, he missed his books, he missed Daniels apartment, he missed Daniel. He ran as fast as he could, pushing people away from him as he ran to the door. He would contour running, he'd get home, he'd wait for Daniel.
He needed to get home.
----
Daniel loved Andy. He had since he saw him in the tomb. Dumb luck was no way of describing the fortune of finding him. It wasn't luck, it was fate.
A fate that had given him his best friend .
There was no other way to describe them, not really, did Daniel like him? Yes, of course he did he was funny and smart and brave,. He was absolutely everything. But he was sure Andy didn't feel the same way.
Sure he smiled whenever Daniel said something stupid, but everyone did. Besides he'd make fun of him constantly, not that it hurt Daniel, he knew he didn't mean it, and if he knew they were meant to be wouldn't he have said something when he first met him.
Back in that tomb, back where he found him. He'd stumbled apon it by accident. A hiking mistake that made him fall into the cave and stumble apon the most beautiful man he had ever seen. He was draped an old cloth, one that was almost falling apart despite the time slowing sigil that had kept him alive and trapped. His hair was slightly messy but in a cute way like he'd just woken up. His eyes were glossed over, in a state of shock like he hadn't expected Daniel to fall through his roof. Seeing him felt like a dream, talking with him felt natural, everything about him just felt natural.
He didn't want to ruin that. If they weren't meant to be maybe that's why Andy never said anything. Maybe he had seen them together and maybe it ruined everything. Daniel couldn't bare thinking about it. He couldn't lose Andy.
He looked behind him to ask if he needed another Pepsi to see him missing. Andy was missing. He'd lost Andy.
