Work Text:
Vaggie paced anxiously in front of Charlie's bedroom door, biting her lip as she stared down at the knob– unlocked, most likely, despite her efforts to convince Charlie to be more cautious.
This was the third time this week she had worked up the courage to march down the hall, but she'd yet to knock on the damn door.
“Oh, Vaggie!” Charlie startled her from behind.
“Charlie!” Vaggie spun, heart skipping several beats.
“I was just looking for you. Do you want to grab dinner tonight?”
“Oh, um–” Vaggie stammered. “Like, go out?”
“Yeah, just us!” Charlie grinned.
“I mean, if you want, sure.” Vaggie shrugged, trying to seem casual despite her amplified nerves.
“Great!” Charlie took hold of her hands, excited but gentle. “Let me know when you're ready, I can't wait.”
“For dinner?” Vaggie couldn't help but smile.
“For our first date!”
Vaggie wasn't sure if she was dreaming or awake.
“Wait, Charlie–” she shook her head. “What?”
“Hm?” Charlie tilted her head. “You don't wanna go on a date with me?”
“I do, but–”
Charlie grinned, so wide and happy it derailed Vaggie’s thoughts entirely.
“But?” Charlie giggled.
“...Nothing. I can't wait, either.” Vaggie gave in, smiling.
