Introductions are hard (if you’re Chloe apparently)

Summary:

The partners chapter but in my au where the only thing that changes is that Chloe and Elijah swap roles with Hank and Connor with some dynamic changes (with Elijah and Chloe being completely platonic and Connor and Hank being father and son as in this au Hank built Connor to act as a son figure to him after Cole’s passing and stuff sorry I’m boring you guys with this I’ll shut up now but anyways yeah this isn’t a hankcon or Elijah x Chloe au)

(oh also Elijah and Gavin are siblings)

Work Text:

NOVEMBER 5TH, 2038, 11:21 PM

Chloe fidgeted and tossed around the wet coin in her hand, letting the piece of copper dance across her fingers before shoving it into one of her pockets.

The rain poured down on her, not too heavy though, just enough to make the ponytail that ran to her upper back damp along with her default Cyberlife jacket that displayed her model number. With a small sigh and nod, she straightened her black tie (despite it already being done perfectly and nowhere near loose…) and made her way towards the location of her current objective.

JIMMY’S BAR

OBJECTIVE: FIND LT. KAMSKI

Chloe walked up to the door, her heels making a small ‘click’ noise against the wet concrete. She took notice of the small red piece of paper that red “NO ANDROIDS ALLOWED” taped to it, however she showed little to no hesitance and opened the door, walking into the bar.

Upon walking in she heard soft, quiet music playing on a radio that was located somewhere within the building, Almost every head in the bar turned to stare at her, including the bartender, giving her a small look of judgement before turning back towards their drinks and food.

She began to walk around the space, it wasn’t a huge building, there only being a small walkway in between the counter and some booths, with a small arcade machine in one corner someone was currently playing at, and a door leading into the staff only area with a small booth tucked next to it in the other, a small saloon style door leading into the bathroom stood at the end of it.

She used her scanners to analyse the different customers, however none of them was the man she was looking for. While searching she heard different insults and remarks from different customers.

“Shit, I thought androids weren’t allowed in here…”

“What’s your problem…”

“You wanna buy me a drink? That’s what I thought…”

“Hey, get outta here!”

“What the fuck you looking at…?”

Chloe decided to see if her luck was in the bathroom, she slightly moved the door to walk in but she still didn’t find him, only finding an absurd amount of graffiti, some even spewing anti android remarks. She took a moment to look at her reflection, seeing some raindrops from previously slide off her face and onto her jacket, before turning around and walking back out into the bar.

That’s when she noticed someone she failed to have before. A hunched over figure against the counter, messy brunette hair covering their face, using her facial recognition scans, she was able to find out that this was the man she was looking for.

Lieutenant Elijah Kamski. Born July 17 2002.

She made her way over and lightly tapped him on the shoulder, quickly putting her hands behind her back. “Hello Lieutenant Kamski. My name is Chloe, I’m the android sent by Cyberlife.” The man chugged his most of his drink before turning to face her.

His face looked heavily different from the one she saw in his file and profile in her facial scan.

In the photo that she saw, he was visibly younger, smiling in his officer uniform. His dark brown hair was neatly cut and managed and his face was perfectly shaved, with black glasses on his face.

Meanwhile, the man in front of her looked very different. His dark brown hair had grown out, messily, a small heap of it tied up in a small bun. His glasses were nowhere to be seen and his face look noticeably worse with dark eye bags and a slight stubble growing on his chin. His cop uniform was discarded for a worn out graphic tee and a loose maroon hoodie.

Elijah’s face had a confused look for a moment, before scoffing and turning back to his drink, twirling the remaining liquid in his glass. “Thought they didn’t allow androids in here or some shit…” he muttered.

“Well, I went to look for you at the station but your colleagues didn’t know where you were. However, one of your associates by the name of Gavin Reed said that you may be having a drink nearby. You’re lucky I happened to find you at the fifth bar.” Chloe explained with her assertive yet gentle voice, a small polite smile on her face.

“Ugh, of course Gavin would tell you, that fuckin’ prick…alright, what do you want?” He asked, clearly annoyed. “Well, you were assigned a case earlier this evening. A homicide at the hands of android. And in accordance with procedure, Cyberlife has allocated me to help insist cases like this and investigators like you.”

“I don’t need assistance…Cleo, or whatever your name is. Just go back to your charging port or whatever you weird robots do, I don’t fuckin’ know…” Elijah then turned back to the counter, finishing off his glass.

Chloe hummed, lieutenant Kamski seemed to be a stubborn man, she considered her options on how to convince him to come with her.

  1. Reason
  2. Threaten
  3. Understanding
  4. Persist

She decided to persist, however making sure to sound nice about it. “Lieutenant, if you don’t come with me I’ll have to report to the station about your behaviour-“

Elijah only responded by silently flipping her off, not even facing her.

Chloe hummed again, alright, let’s try understanding!

“Ok, I understand that you may simply feel uncomfortable around the presence of androids. That is perfectly fine-“

“I am perfectly comfortable, but just shut the fuck up and leave me alone, or else I’ll throw your plastic ass in the dumpster out back.”

Chloe began to consider new options.

  1. Spill his drink
  2. Buy him another drink
  3. Wait outside

Well Chloe definitely wasn’t gonna pour his drink on him, after all she wanted to make a good first impression, possibly even become aquatints with him, or even friends!

“Well, how about I…buy you another drink for the road? How does that sound?” She tilted her head to get a better look at his face, trying to see his expression, hopeful that he would accept.

Elijah sighed, a deep long one before nodding. “Alright, alright, fine…” Chloe smiled, “bartender! Another drink for this man please, same as before!” The bartender nodded. “Make it a double, I’m gonna need it.” Elijah added. The bartender filled up his glass and he chugged it one in one go.

Elijah patted his chest a bit, coughing trying to get used to the bitter liquid moving fast down his throat. He turned in his seat to face Chloe, “did you say homicide?” Raising his eyebrow.

Chloe blinked in surprised, but quickly regained herself, trying not to crack a smile due to the new topic of their conversation. “Uh…yeah! Yes I did. I can tell you where the crime scene is and we can go there now.”

Notes:

More people need to start writing fics with Elijah and Chloe that aren’t just ships and I will die on that hill
