Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

The day was peaceful.

Two years after the war, the sky people have left the reef people alone for now.

Neteyam and his family have been content. In full honesty, they miss the forest just as much as they did before. But the ache for trees and floating mountains has gone away... Just a bit

Life has been continuing with a few changes.

Lo'ak has announced to his and Tsireyas' family that they are now courting.

Ronal wasn't fond of the idea, but if her daugthers happy, she is.

Neytiri saw herself in the young girl. She just hopes that Lo'ak was raised better than Jake and won't make her life a challenge. Nonetheless, she is happy and proud.

The fathers both congratulate them and have been raving about how now they are gonna be a big happy family.

Everyone else has been happy for a while.

Neteyam has some inner troubles, though. Every time Aonung is near, he either has the urge to hurt him or walk away. He doesn't know why, but it's been getting stronger.

Even though he has violent thoughts about hurting Aonung, he seems to be upset when he's not near. He also finds himself looking for Aonung when he doesn't see him.

And every time Neteyam scolds himself. Thinking his behavior is childish and rude.

Aonung has noticed.

Every time Neteyam walks away from him, he gets angry.

Why couldn't Neteyam just be near him? Was it something he said? Does he smell?

These thoughts run around like clockwork, and it obviously affects his efficiency.

Chores get harder to do when Neteyam isn't around. It seems he needs the boy to function.

Neteyam needs to stay away from him to function.

They are stuck. But just cover it up as "Being busy."

Hours later, and Lo'ak comes into Aonungs mauri. Back from flying his ikran.

He runs into the entrance and stands by the flap, huffing harshly.

Aonung seems to be engrossed in something he made and doesn't even notice Lo'ak there.

Lo'ak- Bro!

Aonung flinches hard and looks up from his spot on the floor.

Aonung- Man... You scared me. What?

Lo'ak- I found and abandoned the RDA base on one of the islands. We have to go check it out.

Aonung- What?! Are you crazy? I can't go. It's too dangerous.

Lo'ak- Come on. Don't be a wuss.

An hour later, the boys arrive on the island of the abandoned RDA base.

Lo'ak hops off his Ikran first, and shortly after comes Aonung.

Lo'ak- This way!

The two young Navis run off and find the base Lo'ak was talking about.

When they arrive, they walk through together. On high alert ofcourse because humans might still be there.

Aonung- Dude, I don't see what makes this place special.

Lo'ak- Ugh, if you're gonna be such a drag, I should've brought Rotxo.

Aonung shoves Lo'ak, and Lo'ak shoves back.

The force made Aonung bump into the shelf on the metal wall. And the glass bottle falls and makes a loud clinking noise.

The boys look at the source of the sound on instinct. Lo'ak's hand flies to his knife, already in position to fight, and Aonung has his teeth bared.

They both look down to see a bottle with clear liquid in it, and it piques the boys intrest.

Lo'ak- Looks like there is something fun here after all.

He picks the bottle up and inspects it.

Aonung- Bro its just water.

Lo'ak- No, no, this has an odor.

Lo'ak opens the cork and sniffs it, jerking back at the smell.

Lo'ak- Aonung dude smell it.

Dumbly, Aonung does as he was commanded and nearly throws up after smelling it.

Aonung- Dude thats poisin put it down!

Aonung nearly smacks it out of his hand, but Lo'ak yanks it back in time.

Lo'ak- Nuh uh! Not so fast, fish-lips. My dad taught me how to read the sky people's languages, so I will be the judge of that.

It takes Lo'ak a minute or two, and it pisses Aonung off greatly since he really wants to leave.

Lo'ak- Got it! It says Don Julio tequila.

Aonung- Teki- What?!

Lo'ak laughs at him. Aonung scrunches his nose in confusion. All these foreign words make him uncomfortable.

Lo'ak- Listen, all I can tell you is that this isn't poison. It's something humans drink to get drunk... Ya'know tipsy.

Aonung tilts his head. Alcohol was rare in his clan. Barely heard of people getting drunk before.

Lo'ak- Lets get outta here its late.

The boys make their way back home with the Don Julio in hand.
