Chapter Text

ONE POV ;

One swung her legs back and forth while perched on the edge of a tree stump, trying to find something to cure her boredom. Its like this EVERDAY anyways, she should be used to this by now, used to no one bothering to talk to her. Everyone else was busy already anyways, and she wouldn't want to interrupt anyone.

She heaved a sigh, jumping off the stump and trotting off into the distance.

After what felt like forever of traveling without a clear destination, she found herself suspended above thousands of feet on a bridge hooked between two cliffs. She Paused to look at the sky, leaning against the rope that served as a support for the bridge; staring off into the distance. Before seeing a blinding, bright light dart across they sky before abruptly landing near where One was.

"What the hell?" One gasped, lifting away from the rope. Looking across to see the light die down somewhere close to her, and she quickly paced across the bridge to the other side where the thing had landed.

What she found was disturbing-ish. It appeared to be chunks of crimson, with the smell of blood. Though, there were barely any purple speckles. And it looked like it was alive. Parts of it squirming and moving in ways gravity shouldn't allow it to.

One stepped back, the sight stirring a nauseous feeling in her stomach, but at the same time she was so intrigued in the find. She reached into the bag strapped along her waist, grabbing a vial. And kneeling down towards the odd liquid, but it retracted when she tried to scoop it up normally. She squinted her eyes, confusion painting her facial features.

It does look sort of like blood..

Maybe it's attracted to blood.

She stepped on the edge of the cliff, kneeling down and being careful not to launch herself off, carefully, she kicked on a piece of the rock. Kicking it until a sharp chip came loose, she quickly extended her leg out to catch it, and watched as the rock rolled down until it hit her thigh. She stepped back, now with the rock in grasp of her feet.

She prepared herself for the next part, inhaling.

She sat down, angling the sharp point of the rock against her thigh and quickly running across, she gasped, the pain stung for what felt like too long to One. And she was bleeding too. She watched as the blood trickled down her leg.

"OW OW!! Why did I do that???" She grunted, annoyance replacing her curiosity for a couple of heartbeats.

She heaved a sigh, but her attention shifted to the liquid starting to shimmy its way down towards One, specifically, towards where her blood met the stone floor. She watched in fascination as the liquid seemed to overtake the blood.

She seized the chance to scoop up the liquid, now with more purple speckles across it, and filled the vial up. She put a cork ontop of it, and tucked it back into her pouch. Leaving the bloodstained rock behind.

She made a mental note in her head where the source of it was, before turning to leave.

One returned back to the grasslands, and she quickly ran beneath a tree, digging in her pouch for the vial. And grabbing it again, looking into it.

What effect would it have on something living?

The idea interested her, and she grabbed an empty needle out of her pouch. Pouring the liquid from the vial into the needle.

Just then, Three came skipping happily toward her.

Someone approaching her? That was… new.

"Hi One! Whatcha doing?" Threes enthusiastic tone unsettled One, nobody ever seemed so excited to talk to her before.

"Oh, I'm testing out the properties of this new substance I recently discovered, and I was planning to test its capabilities." One replied.

"Whatawhat huh??" Three tilted their head.

"Actually.. do you think you could try this for me?" One asked.

"Yeah! But you tested it before right? It's safe?" Threes tone lied with skepticism. And rightfully so, One would be cautious too.

One swallowed.

"Yeah! Totally fine, here." The truth stood behind her, while she offered something prettier.

One raised the needle to Threes arm, and Three winced as the needle sank in.

"There! Feel any different?" One advanced closer to Three, eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Three stepped back, and One now realized she was awfully close.

"I feel fine, but I'll let you know if there's any difference." Three replied, and One nodded. Watching Three fade off into the distance.

Now One was left by herself, and she looked down at the remaining substance in the needle. Shrugging and tucking it back in her pouch.
