Chapter Text

It was a normal day (or as normal as it could be in the Circus) when it happened.

Pomni had been in her room after a particularly long adventure when a pop suddenly sounded next to her, and two baby bunnies fell out of the sky.

Pomni froze for a moment, unsure what to do when one of them opened their mouth and began crying. It wasn’t a bunny cry or a whine either. No, it was the same cry a human baby would make. Pomni panicked and immediately pulled the small rabbit into her arms, slowly rocking it until it calmed down.

“...What the f**ck just happened?!” She whispered to herself. This was not in any way normal.

She gently set the baby down and looked at them both. One looked almost identical to Jax except its fur was more of a fuchsia than Jax’s lilac and the insides of its ears were a dark purple. The other one was white with lilac markings. They were both so tiny.

“Okay, okay, okay, why would two baby bunnies just appear in my room?! Maybe Caine is trying to trick me?! But why do they look like Jax? And where the hell did they come from?” She muttered to herself as she paced her bedroom. She glanced at them again before sighing and sitting down next to them. She looked them over, learning that the purple one was a boy and the other a girl. Twins, she presumed. They were both cute; she just didn’t know why they were there or why they looked so much like the rabbit she had been trying to keep her mind off all afternoon-

Her train of thought was cut off as the girl yawned and then blinked her eyes open, looking at Pomni with identical pinwheel eyes.

********

Pomni knocked hurriedly on Jax’s door, anxiously looking around with both babies swaddled in her hat, which she was carrying.

Okay, so she panicked. Sue her! But what else was she supposed to do when two baby bunnies showed up that looked like a mix of her and Jax? Well, the girl did. The boy did have slightly rounder pupils, and they were more of a navy blue than black, but he still looked like a mini Jax beside the color. So now she was standing outside his door waiting for him to open it.

The door cracked open a little bit, and Jax peeked his head out and then grinned mischievously when he saw Pomni. They had been on better terms since the gun adventure, but his posture made it clear to her he was still weary and wearing a mask.

“Well, hello there, Pom-Pom! What brings you to my humble abode?” He teased. “Ready to continue being evil?”

“Jax, can you just let me in?” She hissed. “Please? I need to talk to you.”

Jax rolled his eyes. “If this is about the gun adventure-”

“It’s not! I promise! But can you please let me in? Please?”

He frowned, clearly hesitant, but then he opened it enough for her to come in. She hurried in but froze when she saw his room.

“This…is your room?” She asked.

“You laugh, and I kick you out,” he said as he walked to his bed, his cocky mast finally gone.

“What? No, I wasn’t going to laugh. Sorry, I just wasn’t expecting it.” She stopped talking when she noticed he was looking at her intently. “What?”

“I’ve just never seen you without your hat,” He said softly, his tone surprising her. He then smiled teasingly. “I honestly thought you didn’t have any hair in the back.”

Pomni rolled her eyes, but she was trying to hold back a smile. “Well, thank Caine that’s not true.”

“Wow, are we really thanking Caine like some deity now?”

“Only because he’s the one who provided me with this haircut.”

Jax hummed in response. “So what did you want to talk about?”

“Oh! Right!” Pomni walked over to his bed and gently set down her hat before pulling out the sleeping babies and setting them on Jax’s bed. Jax’s eyes widened. “They just appeared in my room. They can’t be any older than a month old, and they’re just so tiny. Not to mention they look like both of us and-what are you doing?” Jax froze. He had scooped them up and immediately began rubbing them against his face. Oh, and he was purring and now humiliated.

“Uh…I don’t know.”

Pomni smirked. “Are you scenting them?!”

“No!” Jax exclaimed, his whole face turning pink. Pomni giggled, and Jax ignored the butterflies in his stomach at the sound. He also tried to ignore the purring.

“You’re purring!” She giggled louder.

“It’s just because of this stupid avatar! And do not tell anyone!”

“I won’t, I won’t, I promise.” She was still laughing, though. Jax was officially mortified. “It’s just cute.”

“Whatever. Can we please focus on the randomly appearing bunnies?!” Pomni nodded, sitting across from him. “Thank you! Now what were you saying?”

Pomni hesitated. “I’m not sure if this is a trick by Caine or…what but…I think they’re supposed to be our babies.”

“What?!” Jax shouted, waking the boy, who began to cry. Without thinking, Pomni grabbed him and cradled him to her chest, rubbing his back until his cries turned into sad little hiccups. “What makes you think that?!” Jax asked, lowering his voice.

“Well, he looks just like you, but his color is kind of what you would get if you mixed the purple of your fur with the red in my clothes. And the girl has my eyes.”

“That can’t be possible. That doesn’t even make sense!”

“Well…couldn’t you like…tell? Like smell it on them? I mean, your avatar clearly gives you more rabbit habits.” Jax sighed and lifted the girl to where a nose would be if he had one. After a second, he put her back down.

“D***mit,” he whispered. “You’re right; they smell just like us.”

Pomni nodded, not at all surprised. “So…now what?”
