Jamil and Kalim were standing in Scarabia’s lounge, they were going over their dorm’s test scores, they weren’t bad per se, but they certainly weren’t good. Especially with how currently the seven dorms weren’t really getting along. Some rivalry between the housewardens was causing the rest of the students to compete with each other and argue.
Kalim wasn’t invested in the drama, and Jamil was too busy keeping Scarabia functioning that he didn’t know the details. “Maybe we should instill a required one hour of study? Have it have to be in the lounge where upper class men can keep an eye on them?” Kalim suggested with a frown, Jamil sighed and said “Maybe.. We’ll have to center it in a way so they won’t revolt though.. Especially after.. Ahem.. winter break..”
Kalim bristled a little and said “That does make it more difficult.. Uhmm.. ahh, difficult question, do you think having food might help them with doing it rather than avoiding it?” Jamil sighed again “It would..i’ll have to rearrange my schedule in order to make the time.. Push back when I make our lunch so we’d be eating later..”
Kalim nodded “Of course.. I’ll find a few upperclassmen to assign to help you with it as well.. So it won’t be as stressful.” Jamil hummed “Yes. That would be appreciative. Make sure the students who are helping are those who enjoy cooking at least a little, if they have skills already that’s great, but I'm willing to teach anyone who needs it as well.” Kalim nodded “Alright, i’ll go put that together no-”
He was interrupted by a student of Heartslabyul approaching them. “Ahem, excuse me, I was sent to inform you both of a House and Vice Housewarden meeting, you’re to head to the hall now.” Jamil frowned “There were no meetings on the schedule for today. Who summoned us?” He glanced at Kalim who shrugged “Headmage Crowley did.”
“Ack- it’s been awhile since he’s summoned everyone for a surprise meeting! Did something happen?” Kalim said, tugging his sweater up higher, the student shrugged “I don’t have the details, you don’t need your formal robes though..” Jamil nodded and waved them off.. “C’mon, let’s finish up here quickly, I have a bad feeling about this. Crowley is too incompetent to be summoning us for no reason, if he’s felt the need to involve himself in anything, it must be bad.”
Kalim sighed “You’re probably righttttt” He cried, they walked towards Kalim’s dorm, dropping off the test result pages, Jamil took the time to write down a note of what they had been discussing. They then headed down towards the mirror out of Scarabia and out into the mirror hall, they caught Malleus and Lilia leaving Diasomnia, and they walked together towards the meeting hall, which was really just an old empty classroom that Yu had cleaned and set up to have a long table in it with places for everyone to sit. They had gotten tired of being dragged to the housewarden meetings and having to stand the whole time.
The room that was used was quite small, large enough to hold them all, if not to hold an actual class, it had two doors on opposite sides of the room, on the back wall was just a long window with multiple purple curtains, it showed to the courtyard, on the side walls had cabinets and shelves with books and pages and references for the Housewarden meeting and event plans. In the middle of the room was a long table with seven chairs on each side and two chairs on the end, so far Riddle, Trey, Leona, himself, Kalim, Malleus and Lilia were there, Yu followed in shortly after them, they took their seats and waited, Azul, Jade, Vil and Rook followed in soon after. After a while Ortho finally showed up, Idia following after, looking reluctant to be there.
Once Idia and Ortho took their seats, Crowley walked into the room, smiling widely “Ah, lovely of you all to make it on time. I’ve had several complaints from the teachers describing students behavior as being unruly and competitive, between dorms, Heartslabyul students getting into arguments with Octavinelle students, Diasomnia students fighting with Savannaclaw students, working against each other to try and prove their dorm is better than the other.”
“Which is not something we strive for here, at our great college.. so, being as benevolent and kind as I am, I have come up with a way for the dorms to learn how to work together again! I’m going to transfer each of your vice Housewardens to another dorm! So students will get to see the Vice Housewardens working with their Housewardens and working to get along! That should put an end to the bickering between students! Ahh yes, I’m so amazing aren’t I?”
“What?!” Kalim said, glancing at Jamil, who had gone a tad pale at the thought. His own dorm didn’t quite like him anymore, not after winter break, and now he was expected to try and handle someone else’s dorm?! That would not end well. “You can not possibly do that and expect good results headmade!” Riddle said, standing up. “Pfft, you’ve got to be kidding me, the lizard’s students can’t behave and now I’m going to have to put up with some herbivore? Savannaclaw doesn’t even have a vice.” Leona scoffed.
“E-Eek you can’t do that! Ignihyde doesn’t even have a vice either!” Idia said and Ortho said “I do the vice duties, many of our students have jokingly dubbed me as ‘honorary vice’” Idia nodded “I know that, but no one else here can repair you if anything were to happen, especially if you got placed somewhere hot like Savanaclaw or Scarabia, and if you got wet in the wrong suit you could shut down completely!”
“Idia, cherished, I'm sure Ortho will stay placed with you, and if he’s not i’m sure whoever he’s with will keep you on speed dial to get ahold of you if anything happens, and I'm sure no one would prevent you from reaching him.” Azul said, placing a hand on Idia’s shoulder. Idia frowned “I suppose.”
“Kufufu, now isn’t that such an interesting idea, don’t you think Malleus?” Lila said, resting his chin on his hand while grinning. Malleus’s face was frowning “Headmage. Are you quite certain that’s such a good idea? Whoever gets put with me will have to handle fae affairs, I'm not quite certain anyone here could confidently handle that.” Jade smirked “I’m quite sure the fae affairs would be able to be handled if your new vice was prepared properly. Are you saying you wouldn’t be able to manage to help teach them properly Malleus?” he said, tilting his head and cocking a brow, Crowley then grinned “Why of course I'm sure, I would not suggest something if I was not prepared for it to work just so.”
“Then why am I here? I’m just a prefect, this has nothing to do with Ramshackle.” Yu said, frowning “Besides, I’m not paid enough to help deal with the downfall of your issues Crowley. I already dealt with seven overblots, and you still haven’t found a way to get me back home.”
Crowley grinned “Right! Prefect, I have decided that since Savannaclaw doesn’t have a vice housewarden you could fill the role for Savanaclaw, and since i’m so benevolent you may even stay in the Savannaclaw dorms as well, so you won’t have to trek back and forth back to Ramshackle every night, Grim may even join you.” Yu’s jaw dropped at the audacity, one of her eyes twitched and she said "Absolutely not! They wake up at the ass crack of before dawn! I’m not dealing with that again!”
Crowley shrugged “It’s already been decided! Now, onto the rest of the new dorm assignments, in order of the dorms, Trey shall be placed in Scarabia” Jamil let out a weak sigh, Trey and him had been together in the kitchens multiple times together, they had chatted and gotten to know each other well enough, to the point Jamil trusted Trey to be able to cook for Kalim and for him to know Kalim wouldn’t end up poisoned on purpose. “Yu of course will be in Savanaclaw!” Crowley continued.
“Jade shall be placed into Diasomnia along side Malleus. I know, I’m so benevolent for giving you a vice who already knows how to handle problems, dealing with any fae related matters should be relatively easy.” Crowley said and Malleus grimaced, Jade grinned “Of course, that shall be relatively easy, should i be properly taught, of course.” Malleus shifted and sighed “Of course you would be, Leech. I would not allow anyone to blindly gamble around with fae matters”
”Jamil will be placed in Pomfiore, and Rook shall be sent to Ignihyde” Crowley said and Idia made a squeaking sound and jumped back, standing up to hide behind Azul. “Ahh, Roi de Ta Chambre, it shall be a lovely adventure to get to work with you and learn the inner workings of Ignihyde!” Vil smiled and sighed, turning to Jamil “It shall be great experience to get to work with one so.. thorough in his work, Pomfiore shall be blessed to have you join us.” He said it was the first time he had spoken in the meeting, save for small talk while waiting for everyone to arrive. “I.. It shall be an interesting time, I’m sure.. though Kalim, i shall be but a phone call away if anything happens, my first and top priority is your safety."
”I’m sure I’ll be able to keep an eye on everything, but I will call the moment something wrong seems to be happening.” Trey said, and Jamil nodded, “Yeah! I’m sure Trey will be able to handle things just fine! You always compliment his cooking after you get back to Scarabia whenever you guys are in the kitchen together!” Jamil sighed, face flushing a tad “Ah- Yes.. well.. I more so meant, that your father’s enemies are always watching, they almost always seem to know whenever i leave you alone for more than an hour-“
Kalim sighed “I knowww.. but-“ Trey cleared his throat to interupt “What if Kalim and i set up in a guest room with two beds during this vice swap? That way he won’t be alone at night while you’re away? Does that help quell the anxiety?” Jamil hummed, the thought did help clear up most of his concerns.. “Yes.. Thank you Trey, that is much appreciative.” Crowley clapped “See? This is already helping to get the dorms working together again! This is my best idea yet”
“Now, Ortho shall be placed with Azul.” He said and Azul blinked as Idia said “WHAT?!! IN THAT WATER INFESTED PLACE?! I’M GONNA HAVE TO BUILD HIM A WHOLE WATER PROOF SUIT NOW!” Azul placed his other hand on Idia’s shoulder “Cherished, it shall be fine, Ortho shall be safe in Octavinelle, I shall personally make sure of it.” Idia almost pouted, though he would deny it “I know… but what if something happens? Like the glass breaking? You can’t prevent that.” Azul smiled “You’re always welcome in the Monstro Lounge, meaning you can check on your brother whenever you feel anxious, and at night I’ll make sure to personally bring him back to Ignihyde so he can charge and so you’ll know he’s safe while you’re supposed to be asleep.”
“Ahem, back to what i was saying, and finally, Lilia shall be placed in Heartslabyul, ahh this shall work wonderfully! Since it’s a Friday you may have the weekends to pack and set up your dorms to host guests! The Vice swap shall last, lets say.. A whole two months!” Jamil felt his jaw drop, as did Riddle’s, “W-Wait two months? Do you know how dangerous that is for Kalim? As much faith as I have in Trey he’s not equipped to handle a potential kidnapping!” Riddle added “Plus what about our classes? Shall those remain the same or are the vice’s schedules changing as well?”
Yu, at that, sat up straight “Nu uh! No way am I doing that! I’m not swapping with anyone so that would mean me having to attend Leona’s classes alongside him! One, I may be the age of a third year but i am not acquainted with this world enough to be attending third year classes!” Crowley hummed “No, i am not switching anyone schedules, Yu is in the first year, as is Ortho, and bumping them up a grade level or even two would do no good for their grades, just the dorms are being switched around! Although you shall be permitted to wear you’re orginal dorm colors and uniforms! So that way the other students are reminded that you’re managing to work together despite being from different dorms! And so you won’t have to spend any money to buy new dorm clothes of course, aren’t I so benevolent and kind, thinking of my students needs!”
Yu grumbled “If you were thinking of my needs I’d be home already.” She shook her head, after that the meeting was dismissed, Jamil and Kalim returned to Scarabia, and the two of them found n empty dorm room, Kalim cleaned it while Jamil went to collect the proper and much needed furniture, Jamil and Kalim decorated the dorm, they split it in a way that left both with privacy but gave Trey quick sight of Kalim if need, this dorm was also in the heart of Scarabia’s dorm, so hard to find and locate, it had no windows and the vents were too small to fit people, but Jamil spent the time to set protection charms all over the room.
Kalim didn’t argue, knowing that Jamil was just anxious, last time Jamil left Kalim alone for two hours someone nearly kidnapped him, it was pure luck that Jamil had been returning right at the kidnappers tried, so the thought of being away for two months made his heart race and his breathing a bit heavy. When that was done Jamil and Kalim set up a few systems to make Trey’s transition to Scarabia as seamless as possible, and Jamil made Kalim promise to throw no more than two parties a week, and to give Trey a two day warning each time. Kalim swore it, and even set up a calendar with the dates, and set reminders on his phone to warn Trey, Jamil took a copy of the calendar, so he could also text Trey to warn him, and offer help if necessary.
After that, Jamil couldn’t think of anything else to do to help Trey, and then he remembered, he quickly returned to their temporary dorm and set cooling charms onto all of Trey’s bedding, so he wouldn’t overheat through the night, Kalim may be used to the heat, but Trey certainly would not be, he also used Kalim’s card to buy sunscreen for the poor man, he was pale and the dessert sun was unforgiving. Once that was accomplished they finally went to sleep for the night, Jamil could pick for his time in Pomfiore tomorrow.
