Silence Brings us Together

Summary:

Adhoc has become eerily quiet, and the absence of noise the building once had has become disturbing to Fandrew.
With lack of stimulation, he finds his way out of the room he's locked in, and finds that he's not the only robot locked in storage.

Pretty much Adhoc keeps prototypes, unfinished robots, or others in storage rooms underneath the main building.

Work Text:

Adhoc, the innovative company behind many many entertaining robots and fascinating machinery. But recently, the once bustling building has become silent and dull, almost abandoned. No employees roam the halls, but yet there are still so many robots that do.
Though few robots even come out, too afraid of the emptiness of the halls.

But even in the calm, dense quiet, there's always one disturbed by it. And that one so happens to be a prototype locked away in storage, located in hallways underneath the main building.
They were meant to be shut off but employees never quite got around to it. And with seemingly no employees they're stuck there, waiting for the day they'll be let out.
If that day were to even come.
Unless they're that certain prototype, the one given the name 'Fandrew'.

The long hallway was suddenly filled with loud clangor as a door was seemingly being violently broken down. The robot inside was twisting and spinning their body with all of their might, until they finally, somehow, drilled through the door.
As soon as the bot got out, he immediately began scanning the area.
"WOOAW! This place is EMPTY!" The loud, eccentric robot exclaimed as he looked down both ends of the hallway.
An echo sounded from how big and dense the hall was.
"Spoookyy" Fandrew smirked, starting his way down the hall.
The only sound that could be heard were the squeaking of his wheels.
Fandrew was always curious of what waited for him outside of the room, but he never expected it to be like this! Just a long hallway with a bunch of doors. Every door seemed to have a nametag assigned to it too.
He stopped at the door right next to his, looking over to the nametag that sat on the wall beside the door. 'B-P0'. Fandrew stared for a few seconds before knocking on the door. "Heellooooo??? Anyone in there!!"
Before he could get an answer, he immediately swung his arm, opening the door with a scary amount of strength.
"Heeyyy!!!!" Fandrew yelled into the room.
It was dark, very dark. It looked nearly identical to Fandrew's.
He was about to turn around and leave, thinking the room was empty until two circular purple-pink eyes emerged from the darkness, along with the rest of the bots body.
It seemed like a TV head on a stand, mostly made up of purple and pink hues.
The two stared at each other awkwardly, neither speaking but both analyzing the other. The other robot let out a few beeps before pushing past Fandrew and wheeling quickly down the hallway, letting out a loud trail of beeps. Fandrew could barely process what had happened before he tried to trail along behind the other.
He could barely keep up with them before his wheel caught on something and he fell face first.
"AAAAHH WAIT FOR ME!!!" Fandrew yelped, trying to push himself back up and continue his pursuit, but the other robot was already long gone by now.
"Aawwwwhh no!!" He exclaimed with a sad expression on his digital face.
Suddenly, a banging came from somewhere just a few doors down, and it piqued the interest of Fandrew, making him completely forget about the other robot.
"Oooooohh!" He wheeled down to the door excitedly, immediately swinging the door open like he had before.
His excitement was quickly shut down when he opened the door and found..

Nothing.

He looked around, dejected, thinking maybe he could find something hidden in the dark like he did before. But the room just had a few tangled wires and the same error message plastered on some of the walls.
Fandrew groaned annoyedly. "Guess this bot already moved out."
He didn't even bother with closing the door, far too bored with the understimulating aspect of the room to be near it for any longer.
He began to wheel down the hallway once more.
As he made his way down the hall, he realized that the robot he let out was opening doors! Just a few but enough to intrigue him.
The robot seemed to have some sort of clearance because they didn't even need to forcefully open the doors!
He stopped at one of the open doorways, peeking in.
When he scanned the room, he was met with two yellow glowing eyes staring back at him from the middle of the room.

The bot in the middle of the room jumped and crawled to a corner of the room, afraid of the sudden visitor.
Fandrew looked at the figure in the dark with a confused expression.
"Heeyy!!! Don't be shyy It's just me!" He exclaimed, getting closer.
"I-I don't.. know you." The figure said timidly, shrinking into theirself.
"Weelll my name is Fandrew!! What's yours?" He got close enough to the point that the bright color from his screen illuminated onto the face of the bot in front of him.
"I'm. Uhm. Frogbot." Frogbot slightly withdrew from the tight ball formation they curled theirself into.
"Ooohh!! Are you like.. A frog?? That's so cool!!!" Fandrew said excitedly, "Um.. Not exactly." Frogbot giggled slightly at Fandrew's eccentric behavior.
"Ohhhh well anyways wanna be friends??? We could go explore this big place together!!!"
Fandrew smiled widely at Frogbot, eagerly awaiting a response.
Frogbot stared at him for a moment, thinking. "Well, sure, but I've never really had a friend before.." Frogbot said, whispering the last part.
"WHAAT? I didn't hear you. You sounded a bit too pathetic!!" Fandrew blurted out.
Frogbot gasped, putting on an offended expression and began stammering.
"YOU CAN'T JUST SAY I'M PATHETIC! I'M- JUST EMBARRASSED.." Frogbot proclaimed, attempting to defend himself and moving back into the corner once again.
"Why are you embarrassed???" Fandrew cocked his head to the side with a confused expression.
"Well.. I've just never had a friend before and it's embarrassing to admit that-I guess." Frogbot averted his eyes from Fandrew's curious gaze.

The silence between the two was deafening. Then suddenly,
Fandrew threw himself onto Frogbot and wrapped his arms around his torso, causing a squeak to come out of Frogbot. "THAT'S NOTHING TO BE EMBARRASSED OF! I'VE NEVER HAD A FRIEND EITHER!!! We can be eachother's first EVER friends!!" Fandrew attempted to nuzzle into the other before Frogbot pressed his hand onto the top of Fandrew's head and gently pushed him off of him with a nervous expression. "Hah.. Alright but maybe let's not.. hug yet.."
Fandrew put on a sad expression before quickly shifting back to his original smile, pulling Frogbot up and wrapping his arm around his.
"Weelll let's go explorring, new friiendd!" Fandrew giggled and led Frogbot out of the room.
Frogbot grabbed Fandrew's arm and unwrapped it from his own.
Fandrew looked over to Frogbot, and now he could really make out the features of the other. The design he had was extremely interesting to Fandrew, he'd never seen a robot built the way Frogbot was!
Fandrew was quickly taken out of his thoughts when Frogbot began to speak, giving Fandrew a nervous expression once again.
"Okay.. As friends, I want to set a boundary with you." Frogbot said, looking at Fandrew.
Fandrew deadpanned, "What's a boundary?"
Frogbot gave him a confused expression. "You don't know what a boundary is??" Fandrew tapped the end of his arm to the bottom of his head while looking off to the side.
"Nope!! No idea!" Fandrew smiled, but Frogbot seemed to carry a worried expression.
"Well.. A boundary is like..." Frogbot began, trying to think of the right words to use.
"Say you don't like something that I do, you tell me you don't like it and I'll stop!" Fandrew nodded along with what Frogbot was saying, but it seemed like he was barely registering what he was saying. "And, in this case, I don't really like you touching me.. So I'll tell you, I don't like it when you touch me. And you'll agree with that! Hopefully." Frogbot averted his gaze before turning back to Fandrew, only to see that his face was now filled with digital tears.
Frogbot quickly raised his hands and got closer to Fandrew, worry written all over his face. "WHY ARE YOU CRYING??" Fandrew stared up at Frogbot with tears streaming down his face.
"DOES-DOES THIS MEAN WE AREN'T FRIENDS ANYMORE??" Fandrew cried out through his digital tears. "WHAT!? No! We're still friends!!" Frogbot exclaimed, "Boundaries make us better friends! Knowing eachother's likes and dislikes helps a lot!!!"
Frogbot drew nearer, hesitantly putting a hand onto Fandrew's shoulder in an attempt to comfort him.
Fandrew sniffled, gazing at Frogbot with his tear streaken face.
"Really??" Frogbot gave a small smile to Fandrew, "Really!"
Frogbot gasped as Fandrew pulled him into a hug once again.
"Aaahh- Fandrew!" Frogbot winced and pushed him away once again.
"Oh! Sorry!" Fandrew looked away with an embarrassed expression on his face.
Frogbot bashfully stared at him and giggled.
"It's- Okay! Just remember!" Frogbot gave a small, warm smile to Fandrew.
"Okaay!!" Fandrew exclaimed, his excited and eccentric demeanor coming back once again.
"Maaybe later we can hug!" Fandrew chirped happily as he and Frogbot continued to traverse down the hallway once again.
Frogbot giggled at Fandrew, "Yea, maybe later.."

Notes:

GEEULP if it's bad blame it on the fact that I haven't actually written anything in like a year or so...
This also acts as a character study for Fandrew and Frogbot, so if they're a bit out of character or REALLY out of character depending on how you view it... Yea.......
