Work Text:

If you would have told Gwen a year ago that she would be dating Lindsay Topps, resident dumb blonde and the prettiest girl at Wawanakwa High, she would have laughed in your face before telling you to screw off.

However, on a Saturday morning, Gwen finds herself driving to her girlfriend's house, a bag filled with every she needs for a weekend long stay inside. The blonde had begged her yesterday after school to stay the weekend with her because her parents and younger brother were out of town, visiting her grandparents, but she had stayed behind just so she could spend time with the goth.

Gwen had promised her that she would come over the next day, because she had to watch her younger brother while her mom worked, and by the next morning, Lindsay had sent her countless texts of things they could do.

Pulling into the driveway of the house (or rather, mansion), Gwen parks her car, staring up at the looming brick exterior with a hint of anxiousness. Deep down, she realizes that she doesn't fit in to this place, in the fancy neighborhood where most of the homeowners work in business or stocks and send their kids to fancy private schools with uniforms, and install in-ground swimming pools that cost more than what her mom paid for in a kitchen renovation six years ago. This is the kind of neighborhood all the preppy kids at school reside in, the kind of neighborhood that breeds pretentious dirtbags with mommy and daddy's money, kids like Heather Kasuga and Alejandro Burromuerto.

However, Lindsay also lives in this neighborhood, and her family was always nice to Gwen during dinners, and they had even bought her new canvases and expensive oil paints for her birthday. They kept snacks in the pantry that Lindsay told them Gwen liked for when she came over, whether it be to help the blonde study or just to hang out. Lindsay's mom had even bought the girls matching silk robes, and Gwen had nearly cried when she felt the smoothness of the fabric.

Still, despite all the kindness, the feeling that she never will truly belong lingers in Gwen's mind, though, seeing Lindsay rushing out the front door in an off-the-shoulder top that the goth thrifted for her makes Gwen feel better. The taller girl rushes to the car, long blonde strands bouncing along with her quick steps.

"Gwen, you're here!" she greets, a smile from ear to ear on her lip-glossed covered lips. Gwen takes a second to admire the shade, something pretty and pink that suits Lindsay so well, before she unbuckles her seatbelt and opens the car door, letting herself get pulled into a squeeze by her girlfriend.

"What, did you think I'd ditch you?" Gwen asks through a face full of tits, and she hugs Lindsay back around the waist, looking up at her as they slowly pull away from each other. It was hard to imagine being so affectionate with someone else; when she had dated Trent back in Year 10, the most they did was kiss and occasionally hold hands.

With Lindsay, she finds herself engaging in more PDA than she ever had in her life; arms looped around the blonde's waist, a perfectly manicured hand resting on Gwen's hip, kisses on the cheek between classes, and the cuddling, God, the cuddling. Gwen has never felt so warm in her life than she felt whenever Lindsay spooned her.

The blonde girl giggles and shakes her head, clearly excited that they would be spending the next two days together. "Of course I knew you'd show up! You always do, Gwenny."

The nickname was still in an adjustment period, though Gwen was starting to realize she didn't mind it as badly as she thought. "Duh. What else would I be doing?"

Laughing together, Gwen grabs her bag from the backseat, slinging the strap over her shoulder and locking her car. Lindsay immediately intertwines their fingers, leading them towards the entrance of the Topps' residence, and when they enter, Gwen immediately picks up on the silence. It feels even louder, considering how big the space is.

They walk up the grand stairs, and Gwen admires the art on the walls like she does every time she comes over. Continuing down the hallway, they stop in front of Lindsay's room, the door left ajar, like Lindsay had been in a rush. Judging by the way she ran out of the house just a couple minutes ago, Gwen can see it.

A show is audible in the hallway, probably a reality TV show of some kind. Lindsay has been trying to convince Gwen to watch an episode of Canada's Worst Driver for weeks now. So far, she hadn't budged.

They step into the room, beige walls, a huge canopy bed covered in pink, and Lindsay's french bulldog, Mr. Snuggles greeting them. Gwen sits her bag down on the floor, plopping down onto the plush bed with a sigh of content.

"Have I ever told you how much I love your bed?" she asks rhetorically, feeling the mattress shift when Lindsay sits down beside her. Freshly painted nails find their way in teal and black hair, brushing through it gently and getting all the knots out that Gwen had missed.

"Maybe a few times," Lindsay giggles, looking down at her girlfriend with nothing but adoration in her bright blue eyes. Her eyes might be one of Gwen's favorite things about her; she has used that same shade of sky blue in a lot of her art lately. Subconsciously, her brain had realized that Lindsay was her muse.

They sit together for a bit, Lindsay watching TV while Gwen rests on top of fluffy pink blankets, before the blonde gets the bright idea of cooking lunch together. Gwen agrees, only so she can supervise and make sure they don't burn the house down.

Somehow they agree on making omelettes, though after burning herself on the frying pan, Lindsay settles on sitting on the kitchen counter and watching Gwen cook.

"You're so good at everything!" she claims, resting her chin in her hand as she watches the omelette cook. "You're like, perfect!"

Gwen's cheeks flush slightly at the compliment, and if asked why, she would blame the heat from the stove top. However, Lindsay can even tell that's a lie, so she just grumbles, "of course you say that."

After Gwen is finished cooking, they sit at the giant kitchen table that Lindsay's dad paid top dollar for, chatting about their friends as they eat.

"I still can't believe Olaf and Ivy broke up! They seemed so good together," Lindsay says through bites of omelette, referring to Owen and Izzy's breakup a week prior. Gwen had heard about it from Noah, who claimed that they both agreed on the breakup.

"Izzy's crazy and Owen is Owen," Noah had said during their lunch period, before falling asleep for his power nap.

Gwen tells Lindsay what Noah had said, though she rolls her eyes. "They were almost as bad as Geoff and Bridgette when it comes to making out. Do you remember what they did at Geoff's party?"

"Didn't they fall in the pool while making out?" Lindsay tries to remember which of Geoff's parties it was; he threw a lot of them, after all.

"Yup. And Owen almost drowned. It took Duncan, Trent, and Tyler to pull him out," Gwen answers, finishing her omelette and pushing her plate to the side.

Lindsay hums at the memory, recalling that particular party. It was before her and Gwen had started dating, but they were friendly with one another, after Lindsay had cussed Heather out. Gwen always joked she fell head over heels for her that day.

Once they're finished eating, they put their dishes into the dishwasher and head back up to Lindsay's room, where the blonde decides that they should do their makeup so she can take a picture for her MySpace. Gwen agrees, only because she doesn't want to see Lindsay's puppy eyes (they rival DJ's), and they both sit at Lindsay's vanity, the taller girl practically on Gwen's lap. Not that she minds, of course.

She starts to mind whenever she's doing her foundation, in a shade paler than her skin tone. Lindsay decides to kiss Gwen's cheek, and the white foundation comes off on her lips. The blonde giggles, taking her finger to rub the foundation from her lips onto her wrist, noticing how different the color was to her spray tanned skin.

"Where do you even get this from? A Halloween store?" she doesn't mean it in a bad way; Lindsay is just curious, because the foundation is damn near white. Even Heather's foundation is slightly darker than this.

Gwen rolls her eyes, brushing out more foundation to cover what came off from Lindsay's kiss. "It's from Shopper's Drug Mart, and I just mix it with white powder," she explains, noticing her girlfriend seems genuinely intrigued. Before she can say anything else, pink lips are pressed against hers, long arms looping around her shoulders.

By the end of it, both Gwen and Lindsay's makeup are smudged from making out, but Lindsay decides she likes how they look and takes a selfie of them anyways. She posts the picture on her MySpace, simply captioning it, "my girl."

Yeah, Gwen was definitely Lindsay's girl all right. Nobody else would have gotten away with messing up her foundation, but how is she supposed to deny that pretty face? Those gorgeous eyes? Those pink, plump lips that seemed addicted to kissing her?

They share the addiction, Gwen realizes, as she pulls Lindsay in for yet another kiss. After all, she's really loving the taste of her lip gloss, and this is an easier way to share it.

Maybe she'll share her lipstick the next time she comes over. Lindsay could pull off teal.
