The thunder rumbles angrily outside, rain thrashing against the manor. Ygor quakes in his cot under his torn up excuse of a blanket in fear, alone and scared. His ears hate the awful sounds. His breathing is uneven, his heart hammers against his ribs. He wants to curl up in the tightest ball and disappear. Too much, too noisy, too angry.
A familiar chill caresses him in his already chilled to the bone state, but this one is comforting. His eyes glance over to his closed door as it squeaks open slowly and gently. His beloved vampire enters without a word and joins him on his cot.
Immediately Ygor curls and mushes into Dracula’s chest, whimpering. Dracula coos and comforts him, long deadly claws ever so feathered light and gentle in rubbing the smaller trembling human’s back.
He begins to sing in Romanian, an old folk song from his home country. His gentle voice overcomes the crashing thunder. Not in volume, but in safety. Ygor’s breathing begins to slow. He takes in Dracula’s scent, letting it comfort and engulf him in security.
In time, as the rain patters outside and the thunder begins to roll away, Ygor and Dracula start to fall asleep in each other’s embrace.
There’s another rumbling heard. A soothing, calming one. Not from the storm outside, but from inside a vampire’s chest as he purrs lovingly for his favorite human.
