Work Text:
Oh teacher from the stars, of mushy shell and heart,
You laid on the altar, forced into a deep rest,
That no proud Eridian, no matter from which part,
Could have borne like you did, the bravest of bravest.
Oh teacher from the stars, first human to meet us,
Lost, amnesic and dull, yet oh-so-filled with Grace,
A lack of sound-and-shell could not stop the chorus,
The thrum you formed with kin, with whom you won the race.
Oh teacher from the stars, grand saviour of two worlds,
One you could not have known, yet embraced anyway,
One for whom your life was more than they could afford,
Your mercy and science-smart never led you astray.
Oh teacher from the stars, homeless wanderer,
Death gripped you greedily, tight in its silent claw,
Hundred thrums gathered to ensure your shelter,
To soften the price paid, as life for life is law.
Oh teacher from the stars, we miss you, we love you,
We miss the awkward song of your odd instrument,
We miss your squishy beat, all the sounds that made you,
You come from Earth but of Erid became parent.
Oh teacher from the stars, we miss you, we love you,
For your life, so loud, was like a drop of water,
From which all is lost, but the faint echoes, of you,
Gathered in this song, so Erid Will remember.
— A song to our teacher from the stars
