Work Text:

The cool night breeze swept through his sails while he was in his vehicle mode; Black Hook was resting with a small purple stowaway on board, who was lying back and gazing at the stars.

Ever since Buster Gallon and Buffalo Crush had found work in a farm and the very kind farmers had given them a barn to live in, he rarely visited Edo’s car center.

He was only there on that occasion because Shadow X had called him—the little rescue helicopter needed company; it had been that way ever since Heavy Iron infected himself with the beast virus.

...That bastard.

He shifted slightly so as not to disturb Shadow X, his optic fixed on the sandy floor of the car center.

But that was precisely why he was there at that very moment. Shadow X had flown there after finishing his shift as a rescuer and had landed right next to him.

He wouldn’t admit it so openly, but that purple helicopter had grown so attached to Heavy Iron that the purple bot even started called him “uncle”… and after Heavy Iron betrayed them, he began turning to him whenever he needed company. Oh, how he remembered standing transfixed in front of the TV, watching the disaster unfold.

There was no way that Black Hook could say no to that. Sometimes they gazed at the stars; other times, they just sat in silence. They enjoyed each other’s company, yet in a way, the void left by the one who had left them was still there.

If you asked Black Hook what he thought of Heavy Iron, he’d reply something like, “We were enemies,” without further explanation, and tell you not to waste his time with ridiculous questions—but there was really something more to it.

Something that felt a little humiliating, especially after Heavy Iron had stolen the Star Crown from him, and that feeling was still there.

“Captain Hook?” Shadow X whispered—in such a tone so soft it could easily have been carried away by the wind. Black Hook simply restarted his voice box in response.

“Do you think he'll change his mind?” Upon hearing this, Black Hook couldn't help but burst out laughing, now actually shaking Shadow X.

“I've been dealing with him for years and I've never been able to figure out what goes on inside that thick processor of his. Ah, you sadly got attached to him.”

If Shadow X had a mouth, he’d already be pouting. He turned over so he was face-down on the deck and began tapping gently with his knuckles. “Look who’s talking~” he replied playfully.

“Yeah, but seriously. I’ll never know what he’s thinking, and he’s not exactly the most sociable bot out there. If I were you, I wouldn’t pay that much attention to it.”

After a few minutes, he stopped hearing and feeling the taps on his deck. He let out a sigh, determined to stay still. Shadow X had curled up into a ball, his fans slowing down as he sank into what he hoped would be a deep sleep. Black Hook decided to do the same, but before shutting down his optics, he thought.

“Heavy Iron, the next time I see you, you’re going to pay.”

Wrote most of this after a terrible earthquake (i'm ok) and with no power, my company being my dog and my dying flashlight. I wasn't really gonna translate this in english but whatever, i needed to get this out of my system to ease my anxiety.
