Work Text:
The water splashed as the sand on their feet washed away in the blue immensity. A half destroyed wall collapsed as the water hit it, protecting the delicate castle behind who took so long to build.
Laughter erupted at the second splash. Kokomi's hair looked suspiciously dry, opposed to Mulani, already dripping. Water had always been comforting for them, and being able to play in it with their favorite person was so precious, it brought back childhood memories long forgotten.
The sun was low on the sky but it didn't matter. Mulani approached Kokomi on her rock.
- I bought some drinks, the best to watch the sunset !
She sat next to her love and rested her head on her bare shoulder.
- I love the colors on the sunset. Makes me think of you.
Kokomi said it lightly, as if it hasn't touched Mualani deeply. While she would have described herself as a sunrise, she now also saw the colours of her soul in sunset. It was such a unique feeling, to be so loved that you were compared to some of the most beautiful moments in nature, she made sure to talk a lot too, because it was mutual.
They couldn't see their footprints in the dark when they left the water. Grains of sand were stuck everywhere, but a quick shower resolved everything, and as soon as they were ready for the bed they cuddled under the duvet.
- Thank you for being there everytime.
A kiss fell on a cheek.
- Thank you for letting me be there.
Eyes fell with tiredness, but neither of them regretted the day. The pictures and memories felt like gold, and never forgotten as they grew old together. The water, the sand and the sun were familiar, but always oh so different with her.
