Work Header

Don't cry over spilled coffee

Summary:

Yoonchae and Daniela meet under not so fun circumstances.

But that's okay.

Because they're gay and in love.

Notes:

Sorry I didn't write a new chapter for my 3 main fics, I am so sad and needed something fluffy and danchae was the answer.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“H- Y- B- E Hybe is here for victory!” She cheered standing tall at the top of the pyramid waving her pompoms wildly and smiling bright.

She landed back down with a thud and huffed.

It was hot today, and the headache she had wasn’t helping.

She sat down on her bench and took a sip of her iced coffee, slowly melting away from the heat.

“Damn we’re fucking dominating today!” Lara pointed.

Dani  wasn’t even paying attention to the game at this point. She was just checking her phone, only for a moment.

“Dani look out-!”

She barely stood up in time not to get hit, at least- not directly.

The player came tumbling over to the bench, knocking down the water cooler and- Dani’s coffee.

It collapsed against her, green covering her black and white skirt and cheer top.

“Are you fucking serious??” She hissed.

The player stood up.

She stares at Daniela.

The world stopped,

Only for a moment.

“Sorry!” She rushed back out.

Dani tried to wipe the drink off of her, whipping her hands to the side to try to get it off.

“Hey, go change, games almost over anyway.” Megan frowned, handing her a damp towel.

She barely responded, mumbling a thank you and walking away into the locker room.

She stared at herself in the mirror, trying to wipe the light brown off of her face without ruining her makeup.

She grumbled at the sight of herself, the stain not coming out of her uniform.

“Hey girl.” Lara said as the rest of the cheer team walked in.

She doesn’t even respond, just continues wiping at the stain.

“I mean, I think it was an accident.” Megan tries, slightly scared.

It seems she had a right to be, because the look that Daniela gave her made her hide her face in her locker.

“Why are you so mad, girl?” Lara was brave enough to say.

“Cause how the hell am I supposed to get this stain out?? I’ll have to buy a new fuckin uniform and I can’t afford that!”

“Aw, wait, don't get too upset, I’m sure we can come together to get you a new one.” Megan frowns.

“If she had just been more careful everything would’ve been fine.” She growled.

“It really wasn’t her fault.” Megan insists. “#14 literally decked her into the sidelines.”

Oh.

Daniela didn’t know that.

But she can’t not act mad now.

“Still.”

Megan and Lara look at each other, sharing a wince.

“C’mon girl, let’s just go back to the apartment.”

Daniela sighs but nods, picking up her bag full of her ruined outfit and following the girls out the door.

“Who even is she? She barely even apologized.”

“Jeung Yoonchae. The quarterback- How do you not know her?” Megan raised a brow.

“The only player I know of is Manon because Lara-.” Dani pointed out.

“Ugh, don’t remind me of that.” Lara groaned.

“Anyway Yoonchae is actually really nice, you should talk to her. She’s here after school almost every day practicing on the field while we’re in the gym.”

Daniela side eyes her,

“How do you know that?”

Lara smirks,

“You’re still messing around with her sister aren’t you?”

“N-No!” Megan crosses her arms, sliding into the back seat of Lara’s car.

Dani gasps,

“No way, who’s her sister? Why didn’t you tell me??”

“Sophia Laforteza.” Megan huffs, sitting back against the seat.

“No way! The Sophia Laforteza??”

“Shut up! And nobody was supposed to even know in the first place! Lara only knows because-”

“I caught them fuckinnnn.” Lara bites her lip in a grin, making crude hand motions.

“You literally barged into my room without knocking!”

“I didn’t know I’d have to!” She laughs.

Daniela looks at Megan shocked,

“That’s actually insane.”

“Can we please stop talking about this!” Megan begs, hiding her face in her hands.

“Fine, fine, fine.” Lara sighs, still smiling as she turns the corner.

“Thank you.” Megan finally breathes.

The car ride was silent for a few minutes. Small hums along to the music as they drove.

“Top or bottom.” Daniela mumbles.

“Bottom.” Lara answers.

“SHUT UP”

“I literally thought she was gonna kill me.”

“She might’ve if you didn’t run.” Sophia chuckled.

Yoonchae groans as she walks to her car.

“But it wasn’t my fault! Marcus went fuckin crazy on me!”

“I know, and he got a penalty, but you did ruin her uniform.”

Yoonchae sighs.

“I know, but I don’t know how to fix it.”

Manon runs up behind them,

“Hey guys what’re we talking about?”

“Yoonchae feels bad for spilling her girlfriend’s drink on her.”

“She’s not my girlfriend, shut up.”

“Oooh, yeah I saw that- she looked pissed.”

“Thanks.” Yoonchae scoffs. “That helps so much.”

“Sorry-”

“Just get her a new uniform and a new drink.”

“How would I get her a new uniform? I don’t even know her size.”

Manon hums, then looks at Sophia.

“You can ask Megan, are you two still seeing each other?”

Sophia pauses and looks at Manon, eye almost twitching.

“I wasn’t supposed to say that was I?”

“You’re dating Megan Skiendiel??” Yoonchae looks at her incredulously.

“Ugh, yes, er no- Ugh maybe I don’t know.”

“Wow.” Manon laughs.

“Shut up you literally sleep with Lara like four times a week and refuse to label it.”

“Touché”

“Okay what? So who was going to tell me that we were all just sleeping with the entire cheer team??”

“Well you haven’t.”

“And it’s not the entire cheer team.”

“You guys are unbelievable.” Yoonchae laughs, opening her car door and throwing her bag into the passenger seat.

“Okay but seriously, just ask Megan for her size, and Yoonchae you buy the replacement.”

“This is ridiculous.”

“But it would be nice of you.” Sophia offers.

Yoonchae sits in the driver's seat and sighs.

“I’ll think about it.”

Sophia smirks,

“I’ll send you the size once I know.”

Yoonchae slams her car door shut and watches Sophia and Manon retreat to their own vehicles.

It’s mere minutes into driving that Sophia texts her.

She wears a small ;)

She rolls her eyes, trying not to think about it as she keeps her eyes on the road.

But she still looks into it when she gets home. She still looks at the school's website. She still ends up contacting the cheer coach and offering to get Daniela a new uniform.

She still acts like it means nothing.

Okay, something seriously must be wrong with Yoonchae.

She doesn’t know why she' s doing this.

Why she’s waking up forty minutes before she usually would so she can get Daniela a new drink and put it in her cheer locker before she can see her-

Totally normal reaction.

Only problem-

She doesn’t know what it was-

She gets dressed faster than she normally would, wearing dark grey jeans and a red and maroon hoodie.

She doesn’t even know where to go, she just goes to the cafe closest to her and Sophia’s apartment and hopes they can help her.

Maybe she should get her a pastry too.

„Hi I’m, weird question-„ she says first.

The barista nods, waiting.

„So- I spilt coffee on this girl and I want to get her a new one but I have no idea what it was-„

The girl smirks.

„Oh- I’ve been waiting for this day.“

Yoonchae doesn’t know what that means.

But the barista has an evil look in her eyes that makes her feel a mix of hope and fear.

Once she’s in the school she realizes something just as bad.

She has no idea what Daniela’s locker combination is.

“Shit.” She grumbles to herself.

She may not know the combo- but she does know Daniela’s first class.

No reason why- She just knew her and Megan had the same class.

That’s definitely it.

She doesn’t have much time though, Daniela’s class starts soon and she does not want to be caught red handed.

So she does the only logical option.

Sprinting across campus and holding onto that latte like hell.

She walks when she’s in the hallway of the performance building, trying to act like she wasn’t just running like her life depends on it.

The professor stares at her as she walks in.

“Jeung, you aren’t in my class.”

“Hi Missy, yes you’re right, I’m just here to drop this off for uh-” she looks away slightly embarrassed, “Daniela.”

“I see.” She nods, “I will give this to her when she gets here then.”

“Thank you.”

She rushes out before anything else can happen.

She sees Daniela down the hall and panics. She pulls her hood over her head, staring at the ground as she scrolls through her phone, hoping to go unnoticed.

They pass by without a word, hopefully without a glance.

Daniela continues to laugh at something Megan said as they walked into the classroom.

“Miss Avanzini.” Missy waves her over.

Daniela looks at Megan and Lara, confused and suddenly nervous.

Missy pulls the bag from the side of her desk and hands it to her.

“This is for you.” She hands her the bag.

“What is it?”

“I don’t know.” Missy turns back to her computer.

Daniela takes the bag to her seat and looks inside.

“No way.” Megan laughs. “She actually did it.”

Daniela furrows her brow as she takes out the drink and chocolate croissant.

Her brow furrows in confusion.

She opens the lid.

An iced caramel latte?

She takes a sip.

Yep.

„How did she-„

There’s a note stuck to the pastry paper.

I hope this is right. Sorry I spilt yours on you. Check in with your coach after class. She has something for you. –Yoonchae

Daniela stares at the paper.

“Ooooh.” Lara pokes her.

“She likes youuuuu.” Megean laughed.

“Shut uppp, you’re acting like toddlers.” Dani huffed, stuffing the paper in her bag.

“You’re blushing.”

“I am not blushing.”

“She’s so red.”

“I hate you guys.”

“No you don’t.”

Even as class started she tried not to think about it.

Hard not to when she sipped at the drink anyway, ignoring the looks her friends gave her.

Class felt like it dragged, like it went by slower than it really was.

But when she was finally able to stand up and leave Megan and Lara made sure she wouldn’t forget,

“Go see Nikkyyy.” Megan pushed her.

“Yeah she has something special for you.”

“Why are you guys acting so weird?”

“Just shut up and go! We’ll see you at practice later.”

Daniela huffed and walked to the gymnasium, where Nikky’s office was.

She knocked twice on the door.

“Ah, Daniela, perfect timing.”

“You wanted to see me?” She asked, walking in awkwardly.

“Yes, just hold on.” She rummaged through a nearby box, pulling out a new uniform, still in its plastic.

“Here.” She handed it to her.

“B-But I didn’t buy this. I don’t have the money yet.”

“It was purchased already, you don’t have to pay anything“

“What? By who?”

Nikky looked at a sheet of paper next to her laptop, squinting slightly.

“Uhhhh, Jeung? Yoonchae?”

Daniela’s heart picked up.

“Really?”

“Yeah. She’s on the football team isn’t she?”

“Yeah, she’s the one that almost dove into me yesterday.”

“Ooh, I see. That’s why she bought you the new one. That was nice of her.”

Daniela holds the packaging in her hands, thumbing over it.

“Yeah.” - “I guess it was.”

“Did you know about this?” Daniela asks out in the open while they change in the locker room.

“Maybeee.” Megan giggles.

“You knew.” She decides.

“Sophia texted me asking what size we all wear.”

“Is that where you were last night?” Lara looks over at her.

“No-” - “Well yes but that happened like way before that.”

Lara shakes her head in amusement, tying her hair up.

“You’re both insufferable.”

“Yeah but you love it.”

“I do not.”

“Would you rather pay the hundred and fifty dollars for the new uniform?”

Dani falters slightly, fixing her top to lay flat.

“No-”

“That’s right.” - “So how about thank you amazing lovely best friend for helping.”

“You sleeping with the receiver is not helping.”

“I mean it helped right now didn’t it?”

“Whatever.” - “Let’s go before Nikky has our heads.”

“No way you actually did it?” Manon laughs, shoving Yoonchae away.

“Ugh, it’s not that serious.” She mumbles.

“Jeung! Bannerman! Get going on your laps!” Their coach yells.

Sophia catches up to them as they run.

“Did she do it??”

“Yeah she did it!”

“I was wondering why you left so early this morning.”

“I wish I had left last night.” She scoffs. “Would’ve saved my ears.”

Sophia immediately reddens.

“I didn’t know you were home-”

“Yeah, I noticed.”

“Enough chitchat ladies!” Coach hollers at them. “I want to see you faster! We have a game this Friday!”

Yoonchae huffs and picks up the pace, her long legs taking her further than the other two.

Their practices end at around the same time. Meaning Dani and her shadows can see Yoonchae from across the parking lot.

“Go talk to her! Flirt a little!” Lara pushes her forward.

“I’m not flirting with her.” Daniela huffs. “I’m only going to say thank you.”

Yoonchae only sees Daniela when she’s walking to her car and Daniela comes up to her.

“Hey.”

“Kamchagiya!" She yelps, dropping her keys on the ground.

“Sorry.” Dani chuckles, picking Yoonchae’s keys up and handing them to her.

“Uh it’s fine, yeah fine don’t worry.” She laughs nervously.

They stand there awkwardly, Daniela adjusting her bag on her shoulder.

“So uhhh, did you need something? Or um what-”

“Oh! Right uh sorry. Yeah I just wanted to come say thank you for everything today. I really appreciate the new uniform.”

Yoonchae smiles down at her,

“It’s no problem. I kind of ruined it so I felt like it was only right to replace it.” - “Sorry about that by the way.”

Daniela smiles back, and Yoonchae’s heart flips.

“Thank you, you made up for it.”

Yoonchae fiddles with the keys on her carabiner, nodding softly.

“Did you like the drink?”

“I did yeah. It was really nice, I was having a hard morning actually.”

“Oh- Are you okay?”

“Oh yeah I’m fine, just some trouble with my neighbor. He has a crush on me or something and keeps trying to ask me out, no matter how many times I say no.”

Yoonchae’s brow furrows and she steps slightly closer.

“What? Who?”

“Uh, his name is Jonah. I think he plays for Geffen? I think you'll be playing them soon.”

Yoonchae nods,

“Yeah they’re at the end of the month if we beat Dream and YG.”

“I’m sure you will.”

Dani shifts her weight from one leg to the other, brushing some hair away from her face.

She’s still smiling.

“Oh uh yeah, thanks.” - “Does he bother you a lot?”

“Only every single morning of my life.” She sighs, then shrugs. “It’s fine, he’s harmless, just annoying.”

Yoonchae frowns, but doesn’t argue.

“If you insist.”

Dani nods simply, starting to back up in an attempt to talk away.

“Yeah, so I have some studying to do for an exam soon, so I’ll probably go.”

“Yeah, yeah, me too.”

Yoonchae throws her bag into the back of her car and is about to get in but stops when Dani speaks,

“Oh, wait Yoonchae!”

She turns her head and looks over to her.

“Chocolate croissants are my favorite.” Dani smiles.

Yoonchae watches her go, a small grin on her face.

“Ice coffee and chocolate croissant.” She nods to herself. “Got it.”

So maybe Yoonchae starts buying her a drink and a chocolate croissant every morning.

It’s not like it means anything.

“So when are you telling Daniela that you like her?” Sophia asks.

Yoonchae looks up from her cereal bowl, mid chew and stares at her.

She swallows hard and her spoon clinks against the bowls as she puts it down.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“That you have feelings for Daniela. When are you going to tell her?”

“I don’t-”

“Don’t even try.”

Yoonchae huffs.

“Never, she doesn’t like me like that.”

“Hm, maybe.” Sophia shrugs. “But you don’t know that.”

Yoonchae has to resist rolling her eyes.

“Just ask her out, chip. One date, after the game today.”

“I’m not gonna do that, Fi.”

Sophia sighs and stands up from the kitchen table.

“Alrighttt, but you’ll never know unless you try.”

She walks back down the hall to her room.

Yoonchae looks at her cereal, the small tasteless squares floating around in the milk.

“Damn it.” She huffs.

She puts it in the sink, too nauseous to finish it.

She leaves early again,

Walks into the same cafe that she’s been in often enough this week that they are starting to know her.

“Ice caramel again?”

“And the chocolate croissant.” She nods.

The worker hums.

“I don’t think any are ready right now, someone just bought the last one.”

“That’s fine.”

Fuck. That’s not fine. Daniela likes those.

“We just got a new blueberry foam top we can put on your latte, would you like to try?”

She snaps back to reality and shrugs,

“Sure.”

Sitting in her car with the cold drink she contemplates.

She doesn’t debate whether or not to get Daniela a different chocolate croissant.

She just has to think of where.

She’s almost sweating as she looks at her phone for different cafes in the area.

“Eight minutes I can do eight minutes.” She nods.

She just hopes they’ll taste the same.

Having to go to a whole other cafe ate a chunk of time, especially since this one was busier than her normal one.

But she got it.

She glanced down at her phone when she got back in her car.

FiFi: Where tf are you?

She looked at the time.

“Shit.”

Maybe the line was longer than she had thought. Her class started in fifteen minutes and it was a ten minute drive to campus.

And she still had to deliver Daniela her breakfast.

-

She almost sprints across the courtyard trying to get to Daniela’s class.

She slows only slightly when she realizes-

This is the first time she’s gotten to her class when Daniela will actually be in it.

She’s gotten so used to just dropping it off with Missy and hoping it would reach Daniela.

So knowing she was gonna have to hand it directly to her?

That scared her.

Still she sped on, only beginning to walk when she was almost at the door.

She opened it slowly, panicking slightly when thirty pairs of eyes turned to look at her.

“Yoonchae?” Dani’s voice carried.

Yoonchae’s head snapped over to her.

She tried to act non-chalant as she handed the bag over.

Dani looked inside and smiled up at her.

“I thought you forgot.”

“I’d never forget.” She huffed, out of breath. “The usual place I go to was out of croissants so I had to go to another one instead. “

Dani’s smile drops,

“You didn’t have to do that.”

“I know.” - “Now I really gotta go, I'm gonna be late.”

“Uh okay- bye!”

“I’ll see you tonight!” Yoonchae yells as she runs out the door.

Daniela sighs softly as she leaves, ripping the paper off of the straw and sticking it in the cup.

“Wow. You’re fucking whipped.” - “Has she been doing that the entire week? I thought you were door dashing or something.” Lara laughed.

“Shut up. Yes, she has. Although usually she leaves a note in it.” She pouts looking in the bag again.

“Are you seriously sad about her not leaving a note?” Megan raises a brow.

“Of course not.” Dani scoffs, taking a bite out of the pastry.

“Right, so you definitely don’t care at all.”

“No, why would I care?”

“Because you like to keep them in your purse.” Lara unhelpfully points out.

“Literally nobody asked.”

“You literally just did.”

“That is so not the point.”

Megan hums, tapping her chin as she stares at her.

“You like her.”

Daniela reddens slightly, trying to hide it behind her cup.

“No I don’t, don’t be ridiculous.”

“Oh my god she does.”

“I will literally pay you to stop talking right now.”

“Girl with what money.” Lara smirks.

“Oh my god this is comedy gold! And totally classic too! The preppy cheerleader meets puppy quarterback.”

“That is not what’s happening.” Daniela insists.

“Thennnn why do you keep looking at her like she invented breathing?” Lara asks.

“She’s just- nice.”

“Oh I bet she is, but we wouldn’t know because you’re the only one she likes.”

“That’s not true!”

“Alright let’s begin class! Today we’re working on-”

Daniela’s attention returns to class once Missy starts speaking.

But she doesn’t miss the way Megan and Lara keep looking at her.

-

Yoonchae is, in fact, late to class.

Only by like two minutes and the professor doesn’t even notice, nor care, but still. She knows it.

“Where the hell were you?” Sophia whispers.

“Sorry I had to run an errand.”

“Was it a Daniela related errand?”

Her silence answers the question.

“But you aren’t usually late from that? What happened?”

“The usual cafe didn’t have any of her favorite pastry’s so I had to go to a different one.”

“Wow, that’s actually really sweet.” Manon whispers next to Sophia.

“Shut up.”

That’s when she realizes.

“Wait- Shit I forgot to write a note. Damn it.” She mentally kicks herself.

“You write notes for her too??” Manon tries not to laugh.

“They’re nothing special. Just like, have a good day or I hope your leg feels better.”

“Her leg?”

“She hurt it during one of the practices on Tuesday.”

“How do you know that?”

“Well when we were talking after practice I saw her keeping her weight off of it so I asked her about it and she said she landed bad.”

“Oh my god you’re absolutely smitten.” Sophia stares.

“Shut up no I’m not!”

“Girls.” - “Am I interrupting?” The professor speaks.

“Um- No sir. Please continue.” Sophia gestures.

They share silent glances among each other.

-

„Blue 42! Set- hike!“

She takes the ball from Samara and runs back scanning if Sophia or Manon is open.

Split second decision she throws it to Sophia and goes down hard, tackled by #12 of Dream

She scrambles back up seeing that Sophia caught it

That’s another touchdown for Hybe!

Yoonchae grinned. Dream had no chance against them. It’s only the first 16 minutes and they’re already up 14-7 if Marquise can make the field goal.

„Let‘s goooooo Hybe!!“ The cheerleaders scream. „Black and white- Black and white- Hybe is here we’re here to fight!“

They get back into position, Yoonchae is checking over her team, making sure everyone is in place.

She holds the ball in her hands, ready to give it to Samara so they can start.

She glances over at Daniela.

Daniela’s already looking at her.

She holds the ball in the air, then points it at her.

This one’s for you.

She gives it to Samara, then gets in position.

She takes a breath.

She’s got this

She barely registers the words coming out of her mouth.

„Hike!“

Samara passes the ball.

Yoonchae books it.

She doesn’t bother for a throw, she finds an opening, plowing through an opposing playe as she sprints full speed down the field.

This was impossible. This early in the game? Either Dream was full of idiots or Yoonchae had suddenly gained superpowers.

She settled on the former.

„Go go go!“ She can hear Manon yelling behind her.

She can see the end field, just a few more steps-

She crosses it, grinning and throwing the ball on the ground.

„That was fucking insane!“ Sophia yells, clacking her glove on Yoonchae’s helmet.

„How the hell did you just do that??“ Manon laughs. „You just shoved #4 out of the way and he’s fucking huge!“

Yoonchae shrugs.

„Heat of the moment?“

Manon scoffs

„Yeah right.“

The whistle blows for halftime and they disperse into the locker rooms for a rest.

„That was pretty wicked, Jeung.“ Samara nods to her.

„Heh, thanks.“ She smiles politely.

She looks around the room, seeing everyone converse.

She can probably slip away unnoticed.

Right?

„Where ya goingggg?“ Manon asks, throwing an arm over her shoulders.

„Oh uh- just checking on something-„

„She’s going to see Daniela let her go“ Sophia mutters from the side.

Marquise laughs,

„Woahh are you and the cheer captain dating? I hear she‘s crazy.“

Yoonchae‘s hand clenches at her side.

„What did you say?“

„Okay, nope we are not about to do this while we‘re winning. Chip, go.“ Sophia pushes her out of the locker room.

Yoonchae huffs but focuses on finding Daniela along the sidelines.

She holds her helmet in her hand and walks, eyes scanning.

She sees the cheer team, then Daniela‘s brown curls and immediately starts smiling.

„Let‘s goooooo Hybe!!“ The cheerleaders scream. „Black and white- Black and white- Hybe is here we’re here to fight!“

Daniela smiles bright, shaking her pompoms wildly.

She looks over the team, eyes stopping on Yoonchae.

She smiles as she watches her guide her team into formation.

Yoonchae glanced over at her. She refused to look away.

She watched Yoonchae stick the ball in the air, then point it at her.

Her heart rate picked up.

„Oh my god, no way.“ Lara laughed

„W-What?“

„She’s dedicating this play to you, idiot!“ Megan scoffed.

„No way, she’s just being nice.“

„You’re actually dumb.“

Daniela watched the play, the way Yoonchae barreled through anyone in her way.

It made heat pool in her stomach.

„Let‘s go! Let‘s go! Let‘s Go Hybeee!“ They chanted.

Her heart thudded hard against her chest when Yoonchae made it to the end, throwing the ball down in celebration.

„Uh girl are you alive?“

She clutched her pompoms to her chest.

„Barely.“ She breathed at the sight.

The ref called for halftime, and Dani watched all the players funnel into the locker room.

„So that just happened.“ Megan mumbled. „You’re gonna go out with her right?“

Daniela sighed,

„I hope so.“

Lara scoffed,

„Girl you fucking better, she just dedicated a touchdown to you. And it was a fucking insane run too!“

Megan gasped,

„Speak of the devillll.“ she grinned, turning Dani around face to face with Yoonchae as she walked up.

Daniela immediately panicked,

„Oh um hi. I didn’t expect to see you uh hi yeah hi.“

„Smooth, Avanzini. Real smooth.“ Lara shook her head.

Yoonchae smiled at her,

„Hey. Hey girls.“ She waved at Megan and Lara.

„Hey Yoonchae, that was an amazing score.“

„Thanks Megan.“ she grinned.

Lara pushed Megan along with her,

„We‘ll give you two some space.“

Daniela glared at her as they walked away.

„So um, hi.“ Yoonchae laughed awkwardly.

„Hey.“ she smiled up at her.

„Did you uh- see the play?“

Daniela steps slightly closer, into Yoonchae‘s space.

„I saw it.“ She nods.

Theres a small pause. And awkward pause.

„Was it really for me?“ She finally asks.

Yoonchae immediately reddens.

„I mean- yeah if that‘s okay. I wasn’t really planning on doing that but you looked so pretty over here I couldn’t help myself.“

Daniela‘s heart flutters at the admission.

„Careful, people might think you like me or something.“ she chuckles.

„Would that be bad?“ Yoonchae almost winces.

„No.“ She smirks.

Yoonchae visibly perks back up, a small smile returning to her face.

„So it’s okay if I like you?“

„Mhmmm.“ - „Maybe I might like you too.“

„You do??“

Dani shrugs.

„Maybe.“

„Can I take you out to dinner then? Tonight? After the game?“

Dani giggles at her awkwardness, but ultimately nods.

„I’d like that.“

Yoonchae hops on her toes, grinning widely and adjusting her grip on her helmet.

„Okay, awesome. Meet me outside the locker rooms?“

„Sounds good.“

„Okay awesome.“ She starts backing away.

The team starts funneling out of the locker rooms and she points awkwardly and stutters,

„I should probably, uh go yeah go, I’m gonna go-„

She slips her helmet back on and runs back out onto the field.

Dani lets out a love struck sigh and almost jumps when Lara and Megan appear behind her.

„So??“ Lara asks.

„What?“

„What happened??“ Megan implored her.

„Nothing we just talked-„

„Just talked?“

„Well she said she liked me and I was like oh yeah I kinda like you too so she asked me to dinner-„

Megan and Lara stood there stunned.

„Seriously?!“

„Yeah? Why is that so crazy.“

„Because Jeung Yoonchae just asked you on a date.“

Dani smiles small then finally looks up at her friends and her smile widens.

She can’t help but start giggling wildly, clutching onto her friends hands as they celebrate.

“You’re going on a date with Yoonchae!” Megan squeals.

-

Yoonchae can hear them. Not like they were being quiet. But it made her smile how nonchalant Dani tried to be until she was supposedly out of earshot.

She got back on the line, ready for the next half.

Oh yeah,

There’s no way they’re losing today.

Not when Yoonchae has a date with Daniela Avanzini after the game.
