Chapter Text
Waking up has never been this painful before.
You struggle to open your eyes, feeling a stinging pain as you open them. Your mind tells you to close them and go back to sleep, but unfortunately for you, you see something different from what you usually see.
You were just a normal 15-year-old boy. At least, you thought so. Your parents weren't great, and your only way of entertainment were your friends and a bunch of old books. Last night was a hell hole for you, however.
A 103°F fever just randomly comes up to you on a random Tuesday morning, making you stay in bed for 4 days. Doctors came in wanting you to take your medicine, but tonight you just decided to just sleep it away. This was a terrible mistake, since not only did it not work, it also worsened your headache more, the pain making sense now.
Going back to what you're thinking, you notice that... You're no longer in your room. You're no longer on your bed. You're no longer in your house.
From this realisation, your eyes shot wide open, uncaring of the pain in your head. Your tiredness has immediately gone away. You look around your surroundings, it was incredibly dark, only able to see a window with the moon shining on it. 'Where... am I?' you thought with a worried expression.
You notice that you were sleeping with your head down on a table, seeing a line of drool on the left side on the table. You were embarrassed at the thought of sleeping like a baby, and wiped it with the crumpled paper next to it. You take a deep breath in, as you stand up to find whatever lights up this place.
As you were standing up and looking around the whole space, the headache had worsened, bringing you to an all-fours position. You noticed that your hands were smaller, with black nail polish on them. Whatever disease you had going on most likely made my hands smaller, but the black nails? Don't tell me my sister was pulling a prank on me while I was basically dying.
You shake these thoughts away in your head, as you stood up once more to find a candle or flashlight.
A loud clap comes from your window, and a glance of light comes in for just a second. There was a lightning storm outside there, a strong one as well. You yelp from the loud sound, your voice being more high pitched than usual. The light from the window was able to highlight one thing, a light switch.
As you approach the light switch, a loud ringing comes in your ears, as you struggle to walk to the switch for some odd reason. You cover your ears to reduce the ringing, only for it to not work whatso-frickin'-ever. You power through the ringing, thinking 'mama ain't raise no bitch' with a determined gaze on the switch.
The switch is finally within your reach, when suddenly the ringing worsens, to the point where you were unable to hear the thunderstorm. Closing your eyes and gritting your teeth, you thought of one last decision to turn the lights back up, punching the switch on! Overdramatic? Yeah, but you wanna look cool to the imaginary people in your head.
As you pull your right hand away from your ear, you wind up and punch the switch with some of your might.
As the lights in the room you were in turned back on, the ringing stopped, a face of relief showing on your face. The headache stopped too, but you didn't notice as you were looking at the now lit room.
It was... uncanny, to say. Filled with cult-related stuff, something a horror fanatic would love to have as a room. Removing the horror aspects, it was a fancy room filled with antiques and dresses.
You notice some details in the room: a poster with a satanic star symbol on it, a dollhouse that contrasts with the whole space, a cabinet with a bunch of skulls... wait, skulls? Oh god, I'm in a horror film, aren't I?
You try to approach the cabinet, but your feet seem to think otherwise. You look down to see a shocking discovery.
You were not in your body, but instead, someone else's.
Your eyes go wide from this realisation, as you observe what you look like now.
You wore a short dark dress with a corset structure, capped sleeves, and a layered, ruffled skirt.
You have a slender, feminine physique, but you seem to be a bit malnourished, much to your concern.
You're also wearing heels that match the rest of your outfit, your inability to walk making sense now.
"I'm... in a girl's body?" you said out loud, as you're sure nobody is in your room. You notice that your voice has changed as well, a feminine voice with an Australian accent to it. The Australian accent surprised you, since you had no Australian descent from your knowledge, which means the body changed how you spoke entirely. "Ugh.. great." you said disappointingly. Your speech is gonna be fucked from now on, isn't it?
Being in a girl's body made you uncomfortable for a bit, since, well, you were a guy. A whole ass dude. You weren't the most masculine man ever, but you had strictly Christian parents, any sign of femininity from you and you're getting yelled at from across the whole house.
And honestly? You didn't really mind it. You were more worried about how the fuck you got into this situation in the first place. You quickly calmed down and took a deep breath in.
"Well then, lemme just..." you said with an idea popping up in your head, as you took off your heels to walk normally. You place the heels next to the table, as you stomp your feet a few times, "That's much better!" you exclaimed.
As you draw near the cabinet, your eyes can't believe what they're seeing. Human bones, skulls, hair, bottles of blood!? This scared you to your core. Why does a kid's room have these sort of stuff? You assumed whoever's room this is must have a knack for these sorts of things, but how bored do you have to be to have a hobby like this?
Next to the shelves was a mirror with paint on it, another one of those creepy ritual symbols. You were curious about what your face looked like, as you closed your eyes and came closer to the mirror.
You opened your eyes to see a beautiful girl, with black hair styled into downward twin tails, each are secured with a hairband at the lower end. Your eyes were apple green, and you appear to have freckles on your nose and cheeks. Your face and body also appear to be tanned, which you didn't notice earlier, but you were distracted in your situation, so you gave yourself the benefit of the doubt. Lastly, you have a large black bow on top of your head, making you look... pretty. Gonna be a pain to learn how to tie it, however.
You took a step back to examine your whole body. The body seemed to be at least either 14 or 15 years old; she's tall for her age but skinny, almost dangerously skinny. This girl's parents probably haven't fed her in a while, much to your dismay.
You should be more weirded out by the situation entirely, since you're a girl now. "Honestly..." you say with a confused state, thinking what to say next. You close your eyes, just to open them again with a smirk on your face. "I look pretty cool!" You twirl the dress around like some sort of maiden. Being a girl shouldn't be the main focus right now.
Shaking those thoughts away, you went back to the shelves to find some information regarding who the hell you are. Multiple books about rituals, more of bones that appear to be decomposing from how old it was, recently stolen skulls that are still in shape. "This girl is either a mad scientist or some kind of graverobber..", the lack of any scientific equipment makes you think that's probably the latter.
"Nothing, nothing, nothing..." you point out as you examine the whole shelf, nothing about your name and where the hell you are.
Deciding to think about something else, you decided to examine the room again. Under the "Live-Laugh-Love" arrow next to a wall, you saw a bunch of drawings that resonated with the girl's personality. Crayon drawings of rainbows and flowers pasted on the wall. Some of the drawings also have the girl being sad of being stuck in this place. You look at them with a sympathetic expression, "Geez... poor kid. I just know she would be great to be around with." You keep looking at the papers, some of them have more drawings of summoning circles and a bunch of gibberish written on them. "Oookay.. a little weird but I still stand by it.", you felt a little sad than disturbed really, how closed off do you have to be... interested in this stuff?
As you were looking through the papers, you remembered something; holy shit, what about you? Your family, your friends, just gone like that? Where are they right now? Are they looking for you? Is your body even there, or is it rotting on that damn bed of yours?
I mean, your body HAS to be fine. You only got here recently. Yes, that has to be it. Your parents found your body, and it's... probably at the hospital in a coma or something. Yeah, yeah, that has to be it!
Or... did you die in your sleep? This kind of situation mostly happens when you die, which causes reincarnation, a common type of afterlife. But... this isn't reincarnation, I'm in someone else's body, not a new one! So, I don't fucking know anymore..!
Your expression turns to a morbid one, unsure of what happened to you. A bad fever can't just kill you for whatever reason, right? The doctors weren't even sure on what you had, just a cold with medicine prepared for you.
"God..." you said worryingly, as tears began to swell up in your eyes. "GOD DAMNIT!" you yell out, uncaring about who hears outside your room. You slam your fist on the table, as papers fling out the table. You try to breathe, and breathe, and breathe, and breathe, and breathe, and breathe...
and breathe...
and breathe...
until you let out a deep breath, finally somewhat accepting the situation you were in.
You go to the mirror once more, seeing tears on your eyes, eyes from another, eyes that aren't yours.
You wipe your eyes with the handkerchief on the table, wanting this all to end, to give the girl her body back, to give you your own body back.
But nothing happened, it's still you. Well, not you, but you know what I mean.
You return to the table, looking at some of the papers. You wanna bawl your eyes out, but reading some of these papers might take your mind off of it. Some of the papers being more gibberish, but a few papers got you interested. A robot's anatomy, a screen replacing their eyes, with what seemed to be smooth metallic skin. It's rather cool, honestly. Do these robots already exist? "Note to self, find these robots and pat their shiny bald head." You say in a robotic voice.
Looking at the back of the paper, you see drawings of parts, likely what's inside these robots and how to fix them. 'These'll be useful.' you thought as you placed them in your... nevermind, you have no pockets. You're wearing a dress, most of the time they have no pockets. You just place them on the table, next to the weird-looking lamp.
You notice something on the lamp, a sticky note! An important one too. You picked up the sticky note and read it.
-------------------------------------------------------------
'check on the drone you're fixing, tessa! >:P'
~ love, Tessa
-------------------------------------------------------------
Smiling as you read the note, a discovery being made. "My name's Tessa, huh?"
"'Drone'?, is that what those are called?" you say with curiosity, as you look back at the picture with the robot on it. She must've cared for these drones if she made a reminder for herself.
Wait... fix? "Ah crap..." you muttered with a worried expression. Your knowledge on tech is next to none, you fixed your router once but that doesn't count at all!
You read the papers again, to possibly find a manual on how to fix these fellas. You manage to find one, a book titled 'How to Fix Your Drone for Dummies!' with a nerd emoji next to it. Silly title, you love it!
"Welp, I'm a mechanic now. Guess that's it." You say with a curious tone, a little excited about what you're gonna read.
