Work Text:
Skizz had always dreamed about getting carried by a big, strong firefighter, he wasn’t picky, any man would do. This was also a well known fact for one of his friends who worked there.
So one fateful day he walks into the lokal fire station to ask if he could help with an upcoming training session. “Hello Skizzly, can I help you with something?” Pearl asks as she’s putting on her jacket.
“When is your next training?” He asks a bit curious. “I finally get the guts to ask if I can be a victim for the next one.” Getting a shocked look in response. “What? Is it that weird thing to ask?”
“No, it’s just that I didn’t see this coming, that’s all. But if you’re willing to do so, then by all means you’re welcome.” She says happily before picking up a stack of papers. “Please read and sign this then. And maybe I can get him to help you.”
As he's reading the paperwork concerning his safety and all, someone walks in. “Hey Pearl, ready for the training?” But as he asks this his eyes fall on Skizz. “Did you get him crazy enough to participate in one of our training sessions?”
“He came of his own free will.” When she looks at Skizz, he is a bit redder than before, so the only logical thing she can think of is this. “Hey Impulse, can you possibly be the one to save this guy?” Feeling Skizz’s eyes staring at her, she just continues her conversation. “You’re like the strongest man here, so you won’t have any trouble lifting him up.” Meanwhile Skizz’s deadstare is still ongoing.
“Okay” he says with a smile “I’ll see what I can do.” Then he leaves the room.
“Isn’t that what you wanted?” She asks Skizz in a confused tone.
“Not exactly. I mean, yes, I’ve seen him around and he’s kind of cute, but was this really needed? I would have been happy if any of them came to help me. It’s not like he’s going to get me out of a burning building after which I owe him my life and then I can’t keep my feelings from him any longer.”
Pearl just stands there wide-eyed, staring at him. “You sure have a lot of fantasy.” This being the only thing she can get out before the alarm rings. “Sorry, got to go. See you later.” And then she's off.
Once Skizz arrives home, he can’t shake this feeling he has. It’s kind of weird, he never felt this way. It's not like he can see the future.
When he’s eating lunge he gets a message on his phone.
Pearl: Hey, can you come to the station at 4?
Skizz: Yeah, sure.
----------------------------------------------
When the time came, he went to the fire station like he was asked to. “What exactly do you want us to do?” He asks just to be sure.
“You’re going to play victim in a “burning” building. I need all of you to put this on to make it more real. Then you get a spot in the building to “hide” in. When the smoke machines start just stay calm and all will be well. Is this clear for everyone?” This makes him turn a little whiter then he'd like.
When Skizz has changed, Pearl walks up to him. “You still sure you want to do this? You look a bit out of it.”
“I’m fine, don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine in your capable hands.” Not that his reassurance is working on Pearl and himself, he still tried.
As he enters the house all the lights are on so he can find his place, it’s in the back so he has a way to go. When the lights suddenly go out he doesn’t really think much about it. It is however a little dark so he almost trips over something.
Finally at the place he is meant to be, he falls over something, after that his left leg starts hurting like hell. When he tries to stand up he gets a jolt of pain coming from his leg as he falls back to the ground.
Now that the smoke has started he does start to panic a little. What if there was a fire they weren't ready for? What if they can’t find him? What if he loses his leg?
As he spirals further he doesn’t notice the heat creeping in. Meanwhile on the outside everyone is in a slight panic as the building has indeed for some reason caught fire. The person hit hardest is Pearl, having her own panic attack.
When the adrenalin finally wears off a bit, Skizz does notice the increasing heat and he almost starts to cry. Did he really just consent to this? “Why did you even go outside you idiot? If you’d just liked women, this would’ve never happened.” This would still happen, maybe not as bad as this is, but it still happened.
Then he hears some muffled shouting as he yells back “I’M HERE, PLEASE COME GET ME!!!” Now starting to cry, he doesn’t care who sees it. He is scared and alone in this flaming building and he just wants to go outside.
Finally he sees through the smoke and watery eyes someone coming and they can’t move fast enough. When they after what felt like an eternity arrive at Skizz’s side, they ask “Are you okay?”
Skizz just wales out “Get me out! My leg hurts so fucking bad! I didn’t mean to wish it into existence! I don’t even want to be carried out by that Impulse guy anymore!” But that is exactly what he is getting. Is it worth the most likely trauma? No, not at all.
When they are finally outside, it doesn’t take long for the ambulance to arrive. As he enters the ambulance it only takes a minute or two for his adrenalin to catch up to him as he passes out.
-------------------------------------
When he wakes up he sees a sniffling Pearl standing beside him.
“Thank god Impulse found you. How are you feeling now? She asks in a very sad tone.
“My head and leg still hurt like crazy, but I’m fine.” Then it dawned on him, Impulse found him and got him out of there and went a little pale as he started to cry again. “Is he okay?” He asks through his tears and gets a nod. How did he wish this into being?
Then a nurse walks in with someone and Pearl says “I’ll leave you both for a minute.” Walking outside again with the nurse.
“Are you okay? Maybe a stupid question to ask, but hey, please don’t worry about it. The boss is going to repay you everything.” To try and lighten the mood a bit he asks something unexpected. “Did you really want to get”
Not even getting the time to finish his sentence he gets this reply “No! It was just supposed to be a very stupid, wild thought, nothing more. But thank you, I do owe you my life now.” Still a bit choked up but also relaxed a bit more.
“Okay, I’ll be back tomorrow. But first I have a little thing for you.” As he places a soft kiss on Skizz’s hand. “This is for being so incredibly brave. See you tomorrow.” And with a smile he walks out of the room.
Now Skizz is just left there stunned but feeling a little warmer inside. Yeah it sucks that he broke his leg, but in the end he got a kiss (on his hand) from the hottest fireman around, so that at least gives him some hope.
