Work Text:
It was already a clear and very hot summer.
The students were slowly finishing their exams, letting go of their last academic worries. Professors were closing their grade books, giving out the final marks. All term papers were submitted, and the plan was complete.
With this sense of a duty fulfilled, a tall man walked out from behind the iron gates. His wheat-blonde hair sparkled in the sun, and his crimson eyes burned in the bright daylight.
He had just recently finished listening to courseworks from his own group of young mathematicians, and now he was walking home to his brothers at a slow, strolling pace to honour the end of the academic year.
He was so completely lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear the quick footsteps behind him at all or the cheerful shout that hit his ears right as a pair of hands landed heavily on his shoulders.
"Liiiiaaaaam, hello, my genius mathematician. You didn't even wait for me," - cheerfully spoke the blue-haired chemistry professor and detective. He was quite unkempt, but handsome in his own way despite the messiness. And he was simply an incredible friend whom William valued very much.
"Oh, Sherly. Don't jump on me like that. I'm not sure if my back can handle your weight." William finally turned his head a little, looking at Mr. Ponytail's profile.
"You're lying, William. You have a perfect back. And now I want to go for a walk with you and eat ice cream, and absolutely not call it a date." With every word, the smirk on Sherlock's face grew wider.
"No peace and quiet with you, Sherly."
"But you still love me this way."
William stayed silent. These words made his heart beat a little faster, making it clear that they had struck something deep in his mind.
"Yes, Sherly... you are dear to me. Very dear. And i really..."
Sherlock's smirk melted into a gentle smile, realizing that William was being more honest right now than he had ever been. Even with himself. So he just slid his palm from Liam's shoulder to his own palm.
Their fingers unconsciously intertwined, and they went off to spend this day full of fun and unexpected confessions. Together.
