Chapter Text
Leo Valdez was on the lam.
And for what? For having pointy ears, of course. Naturally humans must imprison anyone different from themselves or else society would surely crumble, right? And elves can't possibly want to also live in peace just like humans, for they are the most evil beings ever to live. As if that wasn't the most idiotic statement Leo had ever heard.
So, his mother was killed and Leo was forced to live in the woods, keep his hood up all the time, and only visit town when absolutely necessary. It was on one of those trips that the young elf may have found a way to be free.
It occurred on an abnormally sunny day, a little too bright for his liking, but not unbearable. He, of course, had his rust-colored cloak's hood up, hiding his ears. Leo had just finished up his shopping for anything he could only access in the town when he spotted a sign.

Quest for a Queen
Fair maidens of the kingdom, King Zeus is hosting a contest to find the next queen of the Grace Kingdom. If you can win over the heart of Prince Jason and prove to become a great queen, the crown is yours.
You must arrive at the castle gates in three days time. Food, clothes, and housing will be provided for as long as you remain in the competition
---
Suddenly, Leo's pitiful life had a light at the end of the tunnel.
It was risky and nearly impossible but he had heard rumors that the Prince was kind and it would at least keep him fed and out of jail. Besides, it wasn't like he could be on the run his whole life.
So, Leo rushed home with what he had purchased earlier and started preparing for what would occur in three days.
