So, this is it.
You're officially fucked.
The whole trial had been a pain in the ass. Metaphorically, of course.
Feng tried looping the killer until she noticed it was Vecna and turned right around and started leading the killer towards Dwight who of course panicked and got himself killed on hook. Sable did.. whatever the hell that try with the flashlight was. And died. So did Feng.
This leaves you, wounded, second hook stage, running around the muddy grounds of the Forgotten Ruins map, because of course it had to be that map, in search of the hatch because no way you get to the exit gates with the fucking Lich flying around like an arrogant god. Yeah no. Though the longer the seek around the map, the more you just want to take your shot at the gate or die trying.
Then you hear it.
The faint humming of sweet escape calling you like a siren call. Finally. You found it.
Just as you sprint towards the open hatch, fueled by relief and the prospect of finally getting out of this cursed realm, the Lich steps out of the shadows like a giant purple skeleton. Which he technically is, no?
Anyway. He's blocking the way to the hatch. And, of course, it spawned in a shitty spot you can't access without getting hit.
Well shit.
You take a step back as Vecna floats closer, dagger raised, an unimpressed impression on his old face. He doesn't care about the survivors. For him, they're simply nuisances, not more worth than bugs. The only use for them is to get killed as a form of entertainment.
"Mortal. It seems your pitiful journey finally comes to an end"
"One second!" You stutter, desperately looking around for something, anything, that can get you out of this certain death situation. You can't possibly reason with an immortal being that could possibly even overthrow the Entity if he wasn't being held back.
You're screwed.
That's when it hits you. The most stupid, atrocious, most likely life ending idea you ever had since asking Trickster if he would let you go if you sucked his dick.
You have Bardic Inspiration.
Why?
No idea. You probably forgot to unequip it after Aestri gave you a few lessons on how to play the lute. Or was it because you wanted to show off last round? At this point it doesn't matter.
As Vecna lifts his dagger, you scramble to get out the magic instrument, staring him dead in the cold glowing purple eyes as you start playing.
Then the magic 20 sided dice rolls.
And..
Nat 20
To your surprise, the killer stops before you. Instead of striking you down and mori-ing your ass, he stares at the dice, then you playing the instrument, then back at the dice. And..
He moves to the side. Like physically moving away from the hatch and motioning you through.
"What?" You ask carefully, not sure if this is a trap. Is he for real? He's not waiting for you to approach just to slam the exit shut in your face and stab you for fun, right? Wouldn't be the first time *cough, cough* Pig and Ghostface *cough*
Vecna stares at you blankly, probably thinking his decision over as soon as you dared to question him. "You amuse me, human. Go"
"But-"
A single hand movement and the dagger starting to aim straight towards you gets you to shut up. If the almighty Lich is letting you go just like that, you probably shouldn't question anything and just leave.
You squeeze by the purple undead skeleton man towards the hatch. A bit too close maybe. Why does he has to be so tall too? The magic floating around him, the gold that compliments his unhealthy starved figure ending in the scarlet, jagged robes almost like a medieval floor length skirt, it's majestic. In a slightly creepy way. He's a powerful being who literally can raise the dead.
"Say.." you stop right in front of him, glancing up his skeleton figure, "you wouldn't mind possibly letting me explore that book in your chest a bit closer, right?"
"You wish, mortal" the Lich scoffs, floating off to the side so you're not pressing against him anymore while reaching the hatch. Despite his biter attitude he doesn't leave, watching you walk over your escape with the instrument still clutched against your chest.
Then you jump and are gone, leaving him alone in the trial realm. It's the first time he did this. Weird. Something about that dice got him. He can't explain it. Surely, he has to do more research about this.
With that thought, the fog closes around him as the Entity takes him away too.
