Chapter Text
Being on the moon is lonely...
As the eldest son of the great Toruk Makto, I have been trusted with the Lunar Cycle.
Which means I have to stay here... On the moon.
I would be lying if I said doing this is fun or satisfying in any way.
Sometimes I would see humans land their piece of metal here and study the land.
I find it amusing that they try to uncover the secrets that the Gods have hidden. They never succeeded. And even if they do, they just kill each other? I would never understand.
Despite their barbaric ways, I yearn to be on Earth. Walking among them as a God and being worshipped. It sounds nice.
Of course, I know that would be impossible. I would be killed by my parents if the High Order of Gods didn't get to me first.
But still, a God can only dream.
All I do up here is rotate the moon. It's boring, I know.
Almost 200 years, and I feel like I've done nothing with my life.
My brother Lo'ak is still training for his first placement.
My sister Kiri arranges constellations, and she made one just for me.
I stare at it every day. I like to call it Dermanite. I wonder what the humans call it.
My other sister, Tuktirey, only follows my parents around.
Sometimes she visits my moon, but that only happens every 5 years or so. To be honest its the only thing keeping me sane here.
On this peculiarly weird day, one of the entities dropped by. I thought it was weird because they usually never drop by here.
Especially on a new moon.
I stare at its black form, taking the shape of a man wearing an evil smirk.
Its bearing was almost elite-like. Strange.
Neteyam- Why have you come?
Quaritch- For your parents' sins, I have chosen you and your siblings to pay the price.
I don't hesitate as my diamond sword, fit for a God, appears in my hand.
My warrior clothing adorns my body in a second. Ready for battle.
I glare at the entity.
How dare they come to my moon and threaten me?
Neteyam- You have no place here, lesser being.
Quaritch- Is that so?
In a second, glowing chains wrap around my body with a painful hold. I drop my weapon, and it dissolves into the moon's floor.
I shout and struggle, but to no avail.
Neteyam- Release me, demon!
It lurches closer to me. Smiling wickedly as its black smoke surrounds me, suffocating me until I black out.
