Chapter 1: Voice memo:1

Chapter Text

Noli’s fingers trailed over the edges of the circlet with steady hands, the steel cold as it sucked up all of the frigid air of the realm into it’s bones. A while ago he managed to fetch it back after him and 007n7 finally found it.

It was a beautiful thing, really. Despite such an item holding an immeasurable destructive nature, Noli saw it as one of his own— almost like it was a part of his body. The spikes representing the curves of his ribcage, the skull a reflection of his own— it was natural to him as it was his own possession in the first place.

Seven, Seven was so excited when they finally found it. Months of going through archived websites that would be deleted within a few days, putting together as much as they could from the shattered pieces of the Void cult and the Void Star itself.

It was stolen from him, by those admins who claimed to give retribution to exploiters and hackers— but Noli knew the truth. They took the void star from him, passed it along to some other user who had no right to take what was his— what made Noli, Noli.

It was never about serving the community, never about protecting robloxians and being safe keepers. It was about control, moral superiority, inhumanity.

Noli saw all of it, he knew what the banlands did to people, drove you mad beyond comprehension. Mr. Doombringer, the one in power of the banlands, got to bathe in the sunlight, the praise of civilians— a pillar of justice, they said. While the exploiters rotted away in the darkest corners of a cell, they would never escape, turning rebels into monsters from the strain on the human mind of such a horrid place.

They erased his name, erased his existence entirely. It was like he never existed at all, each forum was closed— every conversation once loud, now hushed.

It was fun running around with 007n7 when they were still in touch. He got to see a side of living that once was foreign to him. Noli worked in shadows while having his cultists dirty their hands instead of him. 007n7 though, he was electrifying with the way he could cause a scene.

Fire, smoke, cackling— Noli recalls it all so well. How the devil would mock the admins who if they ever managed to get their hands on him would wipe the floor with him, dare Noli say that 007n7’s best quality yet biggest weakness, was his cockiness. Noli is used to silence, the overwhelming emptiness of the void that was so quiet it was oppressive, the black smoke and eerie purple lights of his temple.

He would keep his mouth shut when they finally started searching for it, pretending like he didn’t know the inner workings of the void cult like the back of his hand— or how he could name all of his followers off the top of his head. He only planned to use 007n7 for his astounding hacking abilities, a means to an end it was, really.

He didn’t mean to start cracking genuine smiles, or enjoying their moronic runs of exploding the same pizzeria over and over again. He wasn’t one to get attached, he wasn’t supposed to get attached— it went against his very nature.

Unfeeling, cold, cunning is how he was described— the Void god who shared no love for anything, even his own followers. His goal was to obtain his leading star back with the help of 007n7’s exploits and then discard of the egotistical hacker, simple as that.

His plans always worked, it was impossible for them to not— each action purposeful, each word that he spoke he knew the effect it would have on whoever it was uttered to. For some reason though, it didn’t this time, as it got so out of his control even he himself got wrapped up in the hackers flamboyance.

Once he got what he wanted out of 007n7, he fled. Everyday they built together forming a bond, every inside joke they would make that made them both laugh until their belly’s ached, and every late night discussion— all of it to waste once he left.

He was never someone to grow fond of something, all he ever saw were puppets he could cure his boredom with from time to time. Flowers that eventually would wilt from the void, humans that had minds too weak to bear the emptiness.

It’s why he couldn’t understand why his chest feel so… heavy? Why did a twist form in his stomach when he bid farewell to the exploiter without even giving him a warning. Why did he find himself wishing in the back of his mind he had stayed?

The what could’ve been haunts him like a poltergeist almost.

Maybe he could’ve fallen in love, lived a mundane life with him.

He always envied humans, how they were able to cry over things they lost. He wanted it badly, to experience something so heavily that you feel as though you would collapse under it. He wanted to experience life as it was intended for feeble things like mortals, as it was intended for everything but someone as empty as him.

He did not experience loss like humans or even other gods, for him? It was a soft gnawing at his chest, a fleeting feeling of passive pain that never stayed. Feelings were things he couldn’t grasp, like trying to hold sand that just kept slipping through your fingers

Noli let out a soft sigh, finally taking the spiked silver circlet and putting it on his head, forcing himself to push away every thought of that one brunette exploiter that made him feel out of sorts. He couldn’t stay here and ponder on this situation, he had a ceremonial gathering to attend tonight.

His temple is waiting for him, and so are his followers, best not to dally.

Notes:

I’m still a bit unsure of where I want this fic to go so it’s a bit rough right now, but soon I’ll come up with a fully fleshed out story!

I’m still very new to writing fanfiction but I hope to be able to update this regularly.

Thank you to anyone who read this!
