Chapter Text

Katsuki scoffed while leaving his homeroom class. They were talking about their future job plans that day. Most of the extras in his class said that they wanted to become heroes. Pathethic. It was obvious that he was the only one capable of doing that, not only from his class but from the whole school and neighborhood. Couldn't the extras see it? But the worst of all of them was Deku. Believing that he not only can be a hero, but also that he can do it without a quirk. As if! Stupid Deku should just stuck to his analysis, notebooks and ocassional fanfictions, not try to become a hero. Why was he even thinking that he'd be able to do so? Was Deku thinking that he'd be able to beat the villains with just his notebooks or analysis? Was Deku thinking that he was better than him, the Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight?! Was Deku looking down on him?! Who did he thought he was, for fucks sake?!

"Bakugou! Bakugou wait!" Katsuki stopped his agressive walking and turned around, seeing Extra#1 and Extra#2 trying to catch up to him. What the check did they wanted from him?
"You left your bag in the classroom!" Said Extra#2, panting. Bakugou scoffed and noticed that he did, in fact, forgot his bag. He looked at the extras, expecting one of them to have his bag, but they both only had their own bags. Of course.
"And why did none of you damn extras decided to grab it for me?! Now I need to go back for it myself!" Katsuki shouted, annoyed and rolled his eyes. He then proceeded to start walking back to the homeroom class, pushing the two extras out of his way, hoping they won't follow him, beacuse he wanted to be left alone. Katsuki didn't know why they were walking almost everywhere with him, he didn't even enjoy their companion, at best he tolereated it. Also they seemed to both share their only braincell. Honestly Katsuki would prefer Deku's companion than theirs in most cases, if only for the fact that nerd was smart. If only Deku wasn't so stubborn about wanting to become a hero Katsuki probably would be able to still enjoy talking with him. After a few seconds he scoffed at the thought and proceeded to push open the classroom door. He walked inside the room and looked around, searching for his bag, just to see that stupid Deku was still sitting at his place, frantically writing something inside one of his notebooks.

Katsuki stared at Deku for a few moments. He seemed to be unaware of Katsuki's presence, or just ignoring it. Pathethic. And this guy wanted to be a hero? He couldn't even notice any changes in his surroundings, a villain would be able to kill him very quickly, unlike Katsuki, yet Deku still wanted to stand on par with him and become a hero, or probably even to be higher than him in the hero rankings. Katsuki could feel his anger boiling under his skin and before he even knew it he was standing right in front of Deku's desk, reaching for the nerds notebook.

"I don't know what you think you're doing, Deku, but we're not done." Katsuki said, referring to their previous converstion during the homeroom and snatching the notebook away from Deku.
"Whatchu got? His diary?" Asked Extra#1 looking at the notebook in Katsuki's hand.
"Huh? Don't tell me you're taking notes on how to be a hero." He added, reading the cover.
"That's so pathethic!" Extra#2 started laughing.
"He's delusional!" Added Extra#1, also laughing.
"Yeah, real funny guys. Just give it back." Deku said, attempting to stand up from his chair. Katsuki send a smaller explosion at the notebook, making Deku look like he was about to start crying.
"That's so mean!" He exclaimed. Katsuki just shrugged and decided to trow the notebook out of the window.
"Most first-string heroes show potential early on." Katsuki decided to start talking, to tell Deku something that would ensure he'd abandom the idea of attempting to become a hero.
"People look at them and just know they're destined for greatness. When I'm the only student from this garbage junior high to get into U.A., people'll start talking about me like that. They'll realize I'm the next big thing. That's not ego talking, I just know I'm good." He said, and then got interrupted by Extra#2.
"Ego..." Katsuki ignored him and put his hand on Deku's shoulder and slightly using his quirk on it, enough to burn part of Deku's uniform jacket and then continued talking.

"Here's a little word of advice, nerd." Katsuki stopped for a second and smiled.
"Don't even think of applying. Or else." He then proceeded to let go od Deku's shoulder, grabbed his own bag and started heading to the classroom door.
"That's just sad. I thought you at least had some fight in you." Said one of Katsuki's minions.
"He finally gets it. He'll never be a hero. Better to find out now instead of later I guess." Added the other one. Katsuki stopped walking for a second, right in front of the door and turned around.
"You know, if you really wanna be a hero that badly, there actually might be another way." He said, smirking.
"Just pray that you'll be born with a quirk in your next life. Then take a swan dive off the roof of the building." Katsuki added, not thinking much about his words. It's not like Deku would listen to him saying that anyway. He never did before, and it wasn't like Katsuki wanted him to die. He just wanted him to stop dreaming about being a hero when Katsuki was clearly the one destined to become one.
Deku's shoulders tensed at Katsuki's word and he turned his head to look at him, his body language angry. Well, that was new, but Katsuki could deal with that.
"Something wrong?" He asked, rising his hand up, closer to his face, showing off some little explosions dancing at his fingertips. Deku's body language turned back to anxious after that, and Katsuki was about to turn around and leave when he heard an annoyed voice from behind himself.

"With you? Probably." The voice said and Katsuki quickly turned around. He saw a guy with purple hair that seemed to defy the laws of gravity, in a school uniform. The guys body language seemed about as annoyed as his voice, even thought it was visible he was trying to look nonchalant, his hands in his pockets. Katsuki recognised the voice and the hair, but not enough to know who the guy was. Behind the guy Katsuki noticed a girl, also in the school uniform, with brown, short hair and some pink dots on her face. Maybe blush? She also seemed familliar, or at least her hair did. Her posture was straight and tense, most likely also annoyed. "With me? Who are you to speak to me like that, prompting there's something wrong with me when the stupid nerd is the one wanting to become a hero without a quirk? Are you looking down on me?!" Katsuki answered, aggresively taking a few steps closer to the guy, who just scoffed at him. Scoffed?! Seriously?! He was the future number 1 hero, damn it! "Don't you dare scoff at me you damn extra!!!" Katsuki shouted, explosions popping at his hands. He could feel the urge to blow the guys head up appear inside himself." "Why? Is it hurting your ego? Or is it that your anger issues can't bear the idea of somebody not agreeing with the flawless image of yourself that you seem to have inside your head?" Katsuki could swear that the guy was smirking while seeing that. He didn't even need to see his face to be sure about that, and that pissed him off even more. "H-hey, guys, what about we talk about this calmly, no need to get angry or be mean to eachother." Deku said, and that was Katsuki's last straw. Nobody had the right to tell him what to do, especially not that loser!!

Katsuki turned around again and launched at Izuku, explosion aimed at his face. He could hear Deku scream when Katsuki did that, except he didn't care, he had enough of Deku staring down at him, thinking he's better! Katsuki's hand was already millimeters away from the nerds face when he could feel something like a light slap on the back of his neck. But before he had time to process it and get angry he was already in the air, just under the classrooms celling. WHAT. THE. FUCK?! Katsuki started screaming in rage and trying to get back on the ground, while also creating explosions around himself. Then he heard a feminine voice from under himself and looked there, seeing the brown haired girl, standing in front of Deku.

"Hi, are you okay? He didn't burn you, did he? Wait, no, don't cry!!" She said, looking at the nerds face to check if he was okay. Her voice was caring and compassionate, even though her body language also showed signs of her being slightly nervous, like she really worried about Deku. That seemed to somehow make the nerd cry and he was now flooding the room. That was a weird sight for Katsuki, beacuse he haven't seen Deku actually cry in ages! How did that girl manage that?!
"Oh my god, why's there so much water?!" The girl exclaimed, her tone surprised.
"Oh my god, did Deku finally got a quirk?" Extra#1 laughed loudly.
"Shut up and help me get down you damn extra!! And that's not a quirk, he's just like that, believe me, we checked it years ago." Katsuki stopped the extras laughing, except he didn't come closer to help Katsuki, beacuse his hands were still exploding.
"Maybe you shut up first and leave instead, what about it?" Said the purple haired extra. Katsuki rolled his eyes at that.
"And wh-" Then Katsuki sudently couldn't speak anymore. Or see. Or feel. Or move. Until sudently he could do all of that again, except he was now in his appartments hallway. How the fuck did he even got there?!

_______________________________________________________________

Katsuki entered the classroom early the next day, wanting to confront Deku before any other students came, beacuse he surely knew what happend the previous day, only to find the nerd talking with the Purple Hair and Pink Cheeks. The fuck?! Since when were people wanting to talk with him?

Katsuki tried approaching them, but he got stopped when one of them noticed him and they all turned around.
"What do you want?" Asked Purple Hair, his voice sounding tired, in the annoyed way. Katsuki just rolled his eyes and took few steps closer, attempting to get to Deku, except he got stopped by Pink Cheeks. He scoffed at her.
"Let me get to the nerd, I wanna talk to him." He said, trying to get past her.
"Too bad for you, he doesn't want to talk with you." Purple Hair said and Katsuki scoffed again.
"And who are you? His lawyer? I don't hear him confirming it. Now..." Katsuki sudently got cut off by no one else than Deku himself.

"Go away Kac-Bakugou. I don't wanna talk with you." Katsuki got stunned after that. WHAT THE FUCK?! Deku, of all people, wasn't willing to talk with him?! And he called him by his actual last name?! Again, what the fuck?!
"Did you not hear him? Go away" Said Pink Cheeks and Katsuki scoffed. He didn't know what exactly was happening but he was pretty sure that the two new extras had something to do with it.
"Fine." He said, rolling his eyes.
"I'm going. For now. But we will talk, got it, Deku?" Katsuki turned around to walk away just to hear the nerds voice behind him.
"No. We won't. I meant that I don't wanna talk with you EVER again. I'm officially breaking all my contact and past friendship with you. You're too toxic to interact with anymore Ka-Bakugou. And stop calling me Deku, beacuse I'm not useless." Katsuki could feel his heart stop. Was the nerd serious? Nah, he couldn't be. He was too desperate for a friend for that.
"Are you joking, nerd? What do you mean by that?" He asked, confused.
"He means what he said. Now go away, you freaking jerk." Purple Hair spoke up again and Katsuki could feel himself becoming angry. Except he knew that it wasn't the best moment to pick a fight, as the bell rang, signaling start of the lesson, making it too much too much risk that the teacher would report him, not for picking at Deku, but for fighting with Pink Cheeks and Purple Hair, beacuse they both probably had quirks, so Katsuki probably would've been reported for that. So, instead of answering he decided to just walk away to sit at his place.

'The nerd probably won't act like that for long anyway.'
Katsuki thought to himself, sitting down.
'I'm giving him max two weeks and he'll be back, asking for me to forgive him his stupidity and wanting to be my friend. And if not then it's his fault for whatever consequences he might meet beacuse of his own idiotism.'

It took Katsuki a few months to learn just how wrong he was, and just how much everything was actually his own fault.
