Work Text:
When she first joined Aeri’s firm, Jimin purely thought that she would need to take care of business legal matters. After all, this expertise was what she studied in college, and exactly why she was hired in the first place.
But upon spending a few months inside this company, Jimin quickly understood that sometimes, work was unpredictable.
Or maybe, it was just her best friend, Yizhuo, who was.
First, she threw her and their colleague, Minjeong, into a barely legal fake dating agreement where they needed to act like a couple to make sure that Yizhuo’s clients–who were attempting to get a divorce–would actually get together.
Luckily for Jimin, this whole ordeal (which was a grand masquerade in the end) ended up becoming the best thing that had ever happened in her life.
This scheme had put her in Minjeong’s path. Minjeong, who was quite literally the best person that she ever met in her life.
And Minjeong who (somehow?!) became her real girlfriend by the end of that agreement.
So yeah. The unpredictability of work could be wild sometimes. It could bring you tons of headaches and complicated legal cases, but also a girlfriend–though Jimin doubted that the latter happened often. After all, most firms had no-dating policies (something about conflict of interests or whatnot).
Although dating was never something Jimin thought of in the past, she was now pretty relieved that Aeri hadn’t added this clause in their contract. Especially when her workplace ended up being the place of her meeting with her girlfriend.
Hehe. Calling Minjeong her girlfriend always made her feel so giddy.
But she was getting side tracked here!
Back on the unpredictability at work. Sometimes it came in the shape of bringing her a girlfriend, and other times it showed as a sudden business trip to Thailand that had barely been planned. And of course, it was Yizhuo who brought her the news.
“Pack your bags, lover girl! We’re going to Thailand in three days!” Yizhuo proudly announced, her arms lazily crossed over her chest.
Jimin’s eyes widened. Yizhuo was her best friend for a while already, but she was certain that she would never get used to the younger’s antics. “And for what..?”
Yizhuo rolled her eyes as if the answer was evident. “For work, of course! I know that it’s not your priority anymore,” she said, glancing at the cubicle behind Jimin’s. “But it’s still mine!”
It was Jimin’s turn to roll her eyes. “Yeah, no. You can’t fool me on that one.”
Yizhuo dramatically gasped. “Are you seriously doubting my love for this job?!”
“Oh, I’m sure that you really love it,” Jimin chuckled. “Especially when you spend hours in the bathroom with the boss who gives you all this work. You’re always productive, right?”
“I–” Yizhuo swallowed audibly, not so subtly punching Jimin’s shoulder. “W–We’re very productive, thank you very much!”
Jimin raised a brow. “In the bathroom? So you do admit to making out during work hou–”
“Nuh-uh!” Yizhuo yelped, slapping a hand over Jimin’s mouth.
They were causing so much commotion that they started to alert the rest of their colleagues around–and specifically one who sat very closely to where they were.
“Hey, don’t hurt her! I need Jimin in one piece!”
Jimin and Yizhuo–who still had her hand against Jimin’s mouth–simultaneously turned around to see Minjeong looking at them with angry puppy eyes.
Yizhuo immediately raised her hands in the air, though she couldn’t help but to slyly smile at the lawyer. “Easy there tiger! I won’t steal your girlfriend away.” She pointed between the two of them. “What do you mean by you ‘need’ her though? Need her for what exactly, hm?”
Minjeong glared at Yizhuo before lightly humming as if she had just won a billion-worth deal. “Good. And it’s none of your business!”
“Damn!” Yizhuo gasped. “My two champs are grown up now… They don’t need me anymore to act disgustingly cute together… And they even want to go further–”
“H–Hey!” Minjeong interrupted, her cheeks crimson. Her whole protective act was completely gone now, leaving place for the Minjeong they all knew and loved–the easily flustered and adorable one.
Jimin looked at the two of them and sighed in exasperation (though she couldn’t help but to feel giddy at how protective Minjeong was of her).
“So,” she coughed, trying to change the topic. “What was that about Thailand?”
Yizhuo’s grin immediately returned. “Right! Aeri wants us four to go there to meet some clients. Apparently it’s a Japanese firm, but the Thai branch is the one who needs our legal expertise this time.”
Jimin rested her elbows against her knees, immediately switching into work mode. “And what exactly do they want us to do?”
“Are they in trouble or something?” Minjeong asked, her chin resting against Jimin’s shoulder. While Yizhuo was explaining the plan, she sneakily made her way behind her girlfriend–it was as if she couldn’t help but to glue herself to Jimin anytime she could.
Yizhuo waved her hand in the air. “Nope. They just want to open a branch in Korea, and need help to understand how our business law and procedures work. We’ll mainly collaborate with them as advisors.”
Jimin immediately frowned upon hearing that. “Wait… if this is about business law, then why are you part of the team?”
“First, I’m gonna pretend that I’m not offended by what you just said,” Yizhuo sighed dramatically. “Second, I’m just tagging along as the pretty woman who will stand at the CEO’s arm.”
“So you’re just going for show…” Minjeong thought out loud. “Suits you right.”
Yizhuo snapped her fingers in the lawyer’s direction. “Exactly! At least you know how to flatter a woman.” She then glared in Jimin’s direction. “You should learn from your girl a bit.”
Jimin simply rolled her eyes at that, too used to her best friend’s taunts.
Sensing that the conversation was about to hit a dead end, Yizhuo stood up and quietly clapped her hands. “Well then ladies, I’ll leave you now. Got some more work to do before our trip!”
Just as Yizhuo was about to walk away, Jimin loudly muttered. “Lots of work with Aeri, yeah.”
Minjeong quietly giggled while Yizhuo simply raised her middle finger in Jimin’s direction before bolting out of the business law’s open space.
It was only when she was out of sight that Jimin finally turned to face her girlfriend, a lopsided smile etched on her face. “Ready to go to Thailand?”
Minjeong happily nodded, her chin still resting against Jimin’s shoulder. “As ready as I’ll ever be! I love business trips.”
Before, Jimin would have dreaded such rushed plans. But nowadays, Jimin started to like things like these–random trips, unexpected plans and thrilling adventures.
It felt weird to approach life without her old monotone glasses. But ever since Minjeong had stumbled into her life, everything around Jimin had started to gain colors–even herself. So now, things felt a tad less bizarre than when they were still stuck in their fake dating agreement.
A colorful world wasn’t as scary as she first thought.
At least, Jimin was certain that with Minjeong by her side, this new world of hers would be filled with happiness and soft endearment.
***
Traveling to Thailand had taken longer than what Jimin would have thought. But after spending almost six hours inside the plane, they had finally arrived.
What had surprised Jimin the most when she first took a step outside of the airport was the almost unbearable heat in Thailand. It was nothing like what she was used to in South Korea. But this overwhelming feeling was quickly replaced by the countless different aromas dancing in the air–all belonging to different spices. Upon smelling what seemed to be delicious food, Jimin completely forgot about her initial shock of the heat surrounding them.
However, she didn’t have the luxury to explore the markets around them, as they quickly hopped inside their taxi. It was already the end of the afternoon, and they were expected for an afterwork with the heads of the Thai firm.
One quick look to her right told her that she wasn’t the only one who felt disappointed to not be able to explore the streets a tad more. In fact, Minjeong’s face was contorted in an adorable disappointed pout. She was longingly staring through the window, one of her arms lazily wrapped around Jimin’s.
Even in this heat, it felt like Minjeong couldn’t physically stay an inch away from Jimin. Not that it was to Jimin’s discontentment though, quite the contrary. No heat nor discomfort was worth keeping Minjeong away from her!
Besides, it was nice to be able to let loose together a little. In the office, they usually tried to keep things professional between them–though they happened to slip up from time to time. But they were only humans, and it was tough to hide their blooming love, especially when they sat behind each other all day long!
But with only Aeri, Yizhuo and their chauffeur inside the car, it was easier to be themselves (and also as clingy as they wanted to be). Jimin could have felt bad for Aeri and Yizhuo, but one quick look behind her was enough to confirm that these two did not care in the slightest. They were too busy teasing each other, or whatever they were doing.
Too quickly for her liking (she was about to doze off against Minjeong’s shoulder), the taxi soon reached its destination. They had just arrived at what looked like a Japan-themed outdoor bar. The soft breeze that appeared as they were heading there made the flags in front of the garden leisurely float around, adding to the relaxing atmosphere of the place.
“Oh? Here they are!”
Jimin’s ears perked up at the sound of this foreign voice. It definitely belonged to a woman, and her slight Thai accent immediately caught Jimin’s attention. She was probably their interlocutor there.
“Hello,” Aeri politely greeted, firmly shaking the woman’s hand. “I'm Aeri, the CEO. Nice to formally meet you.”
The woman flashed her a bright smile. “And I am Jantra, nice to meet you ladies.” After looking at each one of them, she gestured towards the back of the bar. “Our table is over there. Only two of our heads are there for the moment. The others got caught up in urgent work, my apologies for that,” she said, her eyes glued on Aeri.
Aeri waved her hand in the air, offering the woman a charming smile. “It’s not a problem at all.”
Next to her, Yizhuo glared at the Thai woman, seemingly not happy with how she seemed to get all cozy with Aeri already. Akin to a grumpy kitten, she wrapped an arm around Aeri’s and opened her mouth as if to show her teeth. But in true Yizhuo fashion (because she was a professional!) she opted for a smile.
“We can’t wait to meet them,” she said, honey purposely laced in her tone.
Jimin could only roll her eyes at her friend’s antics. She silently followed after Minjeong who was already walking towards the back of the bar. The younger lawyer seemed totally unaffected by Yizhuo’s one-woman battle, too focused on their surroundings.
Jimin had to admit that the bar looked particularly nice, and the soft rays of the late afternoon totally helped setting a nice atmosphere. She could only gently gaze at Minjeong as her girlfriend seemed marveled by the settings around them.
But the softness of the moment quickly got interrupted by her body who decided that it was the best time for a bathroom break. What a terrible timing, really!
“Minjeongie,” she whispered, lightly tapping on her girlfriend’s shoulder.
Minjeong whipped her head around and offered Jimin a bright smile. “Hm?” she hummed. “What’s up?”
A bit ashamed to voice her thoughts out loud, Jimin pointed towards the restroom, hoping that Minjeong would catch the hint. “Can you tell them that I’ll join them in a bit? I–”
“Of course,” Minjeong chuckled, gently squeezing Jimin’s forearm. “I’ll wait for you there, and then we will have lots of fun. Okay?”
Jimin’s heart burst inside her chest. Ah, Minjeong really was an angel. Jimin felt the sudden urge to envelop her girlfriend in the tightest and most loving hug ever but sadly, her body had its priorities.
So she simply settled on leaving a light peck on Minjeong’s cheek. Though fleeting, it seemed to be enough to send the younger’s face ablaze, much to Jimin’s amusement.
Realizing that Minjeong wouldn’t nudge if she didn’t step away, Jimin swiftly marched towards the restroom. The quicker she took, the sooner she would be reunited with Minjeong.
And quick, she had surely been! Not even two minutes later, Jimin was out of the stall, already washing her hands. She was about to reach for a napkin when she felt another hand lightly graze hers.
“S–Sorry..!” she yelped in surprise, instantly retreating her hand.
The other person looked at her with wide eyes before heaving out a carefree giggle. “All good! You go first,” she said, motioning towards the towels.
Jimin shook her head. “No, no. I didn’t pay attention, so you should go first.”
“It’s not a big deal, really!” The stranger waved her hand in front of her, as if to dismiss Jimin’s worries. “You can go ahead.”
“I–I insist! You go first,” Jimin said in what she hoped was a convincing tone.
Silence filled the room between them for a solid second, before it was interrupted by hearty chuckles.
“What are we even doing?” giggled the woman, her cheeks slightly puffing. Then, out of the sudden, she hurriedly dried her hands on her suit pants before extending it in Jimin’s direction. “I know this is a weird time for introductions, but I’m Lal. Nice to meet you! You’re Korean, right?”
Jimin’s eyes widened. It surely wasn’t the best time for introductions, yeah! She knew a lot of odd people, but this Lal woman seemed pretty strange already.
“I–I’m Jimin,” she replied, going along with Lal’s weird antics nonetheless, and shaking her hand. “I–I am Korean, yeah.” Something about the woman felt familiar enough for Jimin not to feel too weirded out, though she couldn’t properly point it out.
“I knew it!” the woman exclaimed, goofily pumping her fist in the air. “What brings you here, Jimin?”
Though Jimin wasn’t so fond of strangers, an effortless friendly vibe emanated from Lal. It wasn’t enough for Jimin to freely goof around, but it was enough for her not to feel the urge to bolt away from the conversation.
“I came here for work,” Jimin managed to blurt out, proud to not have stuttered. Good job, Jimin!
Lal’s eyes widened, though she seemed pleasantly surprised. “Oh! That makes sense, yeah!” She then squinted, as if trying to figure something out. “Let me guess… You’re a lawyer, right?”
It was Jimin’s turn to look surprised. “I–uh– Yes! How did you know?”
Lal proudly hummed, resting her fists against her hips. “I have a really good intuition!” Then, she flashed Jimin a teasing grin. “And you look pretty strict, so it only made sense.”
Somehow, Jimin felt like she should have been offended by that last remark. But she couldn’t bring herself to be mad at Lal. The woman looked far too happy to be reprimanded.
“Actually,” Lal resumed. “I came here for work as well.” She gracefully bowed before cheekily winking. “I love chatting with you but I should go back there. I don’t want her to kill me.”
Jimin raised her brow at that, but didn’t push for more information. After all, Lal was a stranger, so her life’s matters didn’t concern Jimin. Besides, she was taking more time than intended–Minjeong was probably getting worried, so she needed to go back there quickly as well.
“Me too,” she nodded, offering Lal what she hoped was a friendly smile. “It was nice meeting you.”
Lal flashed her a toothy grin. “Likewise! Have a nice evening Jimin!” She rapidly waved before bolting out of the restroom.
Not wanting to worry the others too much, Jimin followed suit not long after.
This Lal woman really was something. She seemed awfully carefree for someone who was dressed in such a formal suit. However, something about her felt overly familiar.
Maybe it was her natural cheerfulness that reminded Jimin of her own girlfriend. Both Lal and Minjeong seemed to be little sunshines after all. Or maybe it was Lal’s effortless charisma that made her look this familiar.
Either way, Jimin actually felt quite… refreshed after this encounter. She even found herself thinking that it would be nice to meet with Lal again and have a chat.
What she hadn’t expected as she walked towards the back of the bar, however, was to find Minjeong sitting right in front of Lal.
What the hell?
Jimin stepped closer to the table, a confused frown on her face. She said that she wanted to meet Lal again, but she hadn’t expected it to be that soon! What was going on here?
And it wasn’t just Lal, actually. Everyone had seemingly taken place around the table, except for her. Aeri was already next to Jantra, politely chatting. Then, there were Lal and Minjeong who were already lost in conversation–at least, Lal seemed to have a blast while Minjeong was meekly nodding at everything she was saying. And then, there was the last woman that Jimin wasn’t familiar with.
She looked particularly strict. Round glasses adorned her sharp nose, and her piercing eyes were glancing around her, as if cautious of every single movement. She didn’t look at ease in such a crowded place.
Ugh… Jimin could really relate to that.
Meanwhile, Yizhuo was practically curled around Aeri’s arm, glaring daggers in Jantra’s direction. However, her mood seemed to drastically change when she saw her best friend approaching.
“Ah Jimin, finally!” Yizhuo sighed, dramatically waving for the older lawyer to approach. “What took you so long?”
Jimin scratched the back of her head. “Well…”
“Jimin? What a nice surprise!” Every head around the table turned towards Lal who was happily waving in Jimin’s direction. “What are you doing here?”
Minjeong looked at them with surprised eyes. “You two know each other?”
Jimin’s mouth opened into a small ‘o’. “Well…”
Luckily for her, Aeri swiftly intervened. “I see that you two met already!” She pointed towards Jimin. “For those who don’t know her yet, this is Jimin, one of our business lawyers. She will be the one who will take care of this case with you guys, alongside Minjeong who you have already met.”
Minjeong nodded with a bright smile, her eyes still trained on Jimin. “Come here,” she patted the seat right next to hers. “I saved you a seat.”
Jimin had to fight the urge to dumbly grin at the small attention. Quickly to not bother the others too much, she made her way next to her girlfriend. As soon as she sat down, Minjeong naturally placed her palm over Jimin’s hand–Jimin had to physically refrain herself from dumbly grinning at that.
However, her seat also coincidentally happened to be right in front of the bespectacled woman who had been sitting next to Lal all along.
Jimin risked a peek in this sharp person’s direction. She didn’t know her name nor who she was, but it was easy for Jimin to notice that she looked a bit out of place.
“So you’re our new lawyer, huh?” Lal’s voice pulled Jimin out of her reverie. “I’m the head of Sales. Nice to formally meet you!”
Jimin politely nodded, her eyes still on the woman in front of her. Honestly, Jimin was certain that she had been sleek with her glances, but the glasses woman raised a curious brow when she noticed Jimin’s piercing gaze.
Jimin was about to excuse herself out of sheer embarrassment of being busted sneaking looks in this woman’s direction but luckily for her, said woman decided to spare her.
“I’m Wine. Head of Accounting,” she said, her voice just as sharp as her face.
Jimin felt herself trembling under Wine’s gaze. And honestly, if Minjeong hadn’t been holding her hand under the table, Jimin was certain that she would have combusted right on the spot.
At least, that was until Lal began to wildly move next to Wine, seemingly recounting a funny story for her very much attentive audience. That was then that Jimin noticed how Wine’s strained lips slightly curved into an exasperated smile.
Okay. She was no Yizhuo, but! Even she could smell something fishy here.
Jimin could now pride herself in being a love veteran! Even if a lot of hardships came their way, she had managed to successfully woo Minjeong and become her real girlfriend. And it was after everything had been settled that Jimin retroactively understood how much of a fool she had been back then.
Like, who in their right mind would think of spending their whole life by another person’s side, of cuddling with them forever and of wanting to hear their soft laughter only for themselves in this lifetime if they didn’t want to date that person?
Jimin hadn’t been discreet with her affection towards Minjeong, even before she realized it herself. And Minjeong hadn’t been better as well! Both of them had been terrible flustered messes.
But one glance was enough for Jimin to understand that maybe, there were more foolish people than them (somehow?!).
She wasn’t sure how things were on Lal’s side, but it was pretty much certain that Wine seemed to be crushing on her, Jimin just knew it! After all, she had once been in Wine’s shoes.
Trying to act nonchalant and even annoyed by the other person. Trying to mask smiles that threatened to show at the sole sight of the other person. Trying not to let out soft chuckles each time the other person was acting silly.
Jimin knew her kung-fu very well now, and she also knew that Wine was far from realizing it already!
“Do I have something on my face?”
Wine’s accusing tone pulled Jimin out of her parasite thoughts. She immediately gulped, straightening up in her chair.
“N–No!” she pathetically blurted out, feeling like a little kid being scolded by her mother.
She heard Wine lightly huffing, and immediately felt bad about it. She totally vexed her, didn’t she? What if Wine now thought that she was a weirdo or something? How would they even work together? And how–
“So,” Lal interrupted, taking a small sip out of her beer. “I know that our departments aren’t directly linked, but what will our collaboration be about?”
Seeing her employee being so dedicated made Jantra heave out an excited noise. “You’re right, Lal! Let’s talk business.”
Aeri smiled at that, gesturing towards Jimin and Minjeong. “Well. I talked with the president of your company and he mentioned wanting to establish a new branch in South Korea. He isn’t familiar with our business law, so these two will be there to accompany you all in this process.”
Lal’s eyes widened in admiration. “So you’ll basically become our advisors? I look forward to work with you two even more!”
Jantra happily clapped her hands together. “I will contact the Legal department of our firm tomorrow to start the process with you. Is that alright with everyone?”
They all nodded, even Wine who was already sharply glancing at the lawyers.
Jimin felt herself shiver under her gaze. “Y–Yes?”
“Nothing,” Wine hummed, averting her gaze. “If you need anything related to numbers, you can ask Accounting about it.”
Her tone was strict yet the scolding (was it?) felt almost warm, as if Wine genuinely wanted to help them. Although said help was suggested in the coldest ways? Jimin didn’t know, everything was too confusing at that point.
“And the Sales department will also be there if you have any questions,” Lal said with a bright smile. However, said smile quickly turned into a frown as Wine immediately interjected.
“Your department is far from trustworthy, Lal. This morning again, your report was filled with errors.” Wine glared at the woman, her words sharper than a knife.
Lal raised an amused brow. “If you weren’t so touchy about your dear numbers, the whole company would be much more efficient, you know?”
Jimin looked at the two of them, feeling completely out of place. She thought that Wine was crushing on Lal or something but uh… had she misread things? Why did these two feel more like enemies than anything?
Seemingly used to such banters, Jantra waved her hands between the two of them. “Enough ladies!” she chuckled. “Let’s not scare our new friends here.”
“Let’s have a toast instead!” Yizhuo suggested, weirdly going along with her newfound enemy’s idea. She probably also sensed that things were about to turn sour, and wanted to appease the general mood of the table.
In moments like these, Yizhuo’s emotional intelligence was a lifesaver! Jimin could never.
(Despite having changed for the better since she met Minjeong, Jimin was still the very much awkward emotionally constipated–Yizhuo’s words–lawyer that she had once been. She couldn’t completely change overnight! Besides, Minjeong loved her like that so she didn’t make a big effort to change it anyway.)
The rest of the evening passed rather smoothly, mostly thanks to the bright energy brought to the table by Lal and Yizhuo. Minjeong and Aeri also seemed at ease, and spent most of their time talking business with Jantra.
Jimin found it cute how involved her girlfriend seemed to be in this project. But as per usual, she stayed glued to Jimin’s side, even if she was focused on something else entirely.
It began with their hands holding under the table, and ended with Minjeong’s leg being completely wrapped around Jimin’s. But again, Jimin did not mind it in the slightest. Being this physically close with Minjeong was always a delight.
But it was also a curse in disguise… because Jimin was so focused on watching Minjeong that she didn’t even bother including herself in the night’s chatters.
For her defense, she wasn’t the only quiet one around the table! After her remark towards Lal, Wine had stayed mum the whole time, only quietly taking sips out of her drink and watching their surroundings.
A part of Jimin kind of wanted to strike a conversation with her. But the scaredy-cat part of herself was also terrified to be scolded again. Wine looked very pretty, sweet and all that, but she also seemed super scary!
But being a nice cookie, Jimin pondered whether to talk to Wine the whole time they were together; she felt bad to see her putting herself in retreat like that. Jimin recognized some parts of herself in Wine that she wished no one else had.
However, Jimin was also a huge chicken, and always found excuses to not actually talk to Wine (she was super scared, okay?). But that was until she saw Wine excusing herself to go to the bathroom.
That was Jimin’s time to strike!
Maybe she could talk to Wine to get to know her better, because she knew that underneath that cold exterior, Wine was probably a sweetheart. Or maybe she could give her some love advice, now that Jimin was a total pro in the area. After all, despite their banter, it was clear to Jimin that Wine was totally crushing on Lal, so she wanted to help this woman who seemed so similar to her.
However, what Jimin failed to notice as she also excused herself to the bathroom, was that Lal hadn’t been at the table with the others anymore.
And Jimin learned this the hard way…
She swiftly made her way towards the restroom, bracing herself for a conversation with Wine. But as soon as she opened the door, she was met with an… interesting sight.
Wine was sitting on the sink, her arms laced around Lal’s (??) neck (??!). Her hair was completely disheveled, and her glasses were about to slip from her nose. Lal was in no better position, with her hands firmly holding Wine’s waist and her bangs all over the place. But the weirdest of it all was that Wine was furiously kissing Lal, as if afraid to let go.
Error. Jimin.exe stopped working.
What the actual..? Huh?!
First Jimin thought that Wine had a crush on Lal. Then, she learned that these two were actually enemies and close to cut each other’s throat whenever the other opened her mouth. And now, said mouths were clasped against each other and furiously making out in the bathroom?
Jimin felt the need to clean her eyes with holy water. She hadn’t meant to see that! She just wanted to help, and–!
“Why are you in the way?”
Jimin couldn’t even find it in herself to turn around when she heard her best friend’s voice. Instead, she let Yizhuo discover the scene herself.
“Oh my,” Yizhuo quietly whistled. She turned towards Jimin with a sly smile. “Did you discover yourself a new kink? You’re a voyeur now?”
Jimin had to physically refrain herself from loudly shrieking at that. Channeling all the inner peace in her body, she simply smacked Yizhuo’s shoulder, violently hissing at her.
“Of course not! I just–” She took a step back, wanting to be as far from this situation as possible. “I thought I now understood how relationships worked but… Weren’t these two supposed to be enemies? Why are they… doing that?!”
Yizhuo heaved out a desperate sigh, shaking her head. “Jimin, my poor spring child… you still have a lot to learn about love.”
Jimin let out a small whine. “But I thought I had it all figured out now! Why would these two even do that? And here I was, wanting to help Wine out with it…”
It looked like Yizhuo was seconds away from bursting out of laughter. “Y–You wanted to help them?! I–” She let out a quiet chuckle, although it looked like she wanted to loudly cackle instead. “Don’t try to steal my flow! I’m the Cupid here. And you’re just one of my subjects.”
Jimin pouted, glancing at the floor. “That’s not fair…”
“What is?”
Jimin let out a small yelp when she heard Minjeong’s sudden voice. For some reason, she was approaching them, her usual bright grin plastered on her face. “What are you guys talking about?”
Jimin immediately dashed towards her girlfriend and gently grabbed her shoulders. “N–Nothing!” she said, totally not suspiciously. “L–Let’s go back to the table Minjeongie! T–There’s food on the way, r–right?”
Minjeong raised a brow at Jimin’s unnatural reaction. But instead of looking weirded out, she seemed more amused than anything by the older’s shenanigans. “Sure.”
Jimin shakily exhaled. She did not want Minjeong to be subjected to such a sight! It was better to keep her girlfriend’s innocence intact! However, she was so inside her own head that she failed to realize that Minjeong had very much seen what was unfolding behind the slightly opened door of the restroom.
What a mess…
Jimin was certain that she was a pro at figuring out people’s emotions and relationships, now that she had figured out her own.
But apparently, she still had a long way to go…
