"When you get back, let's have a toast together, my dear Senkuu," Gen said nights before the rocket launch. He was sitting on the bench while watching Senkuu building the people's machinery request.
Senkuuu, still busy trying to assemble Yuzuriha's washing machine, raised his eyebrows, "Oh, that's rare. What's the occasion, mentalist?"
Gen shrugged, posture relaxing while a small smile formed on his face. Senkuu could see his hair swayed by the light breeze, expression covered with precise control, how he sucked his breath before he talked softly, "The moon is a faraway place, isn't it? Even now, with the rocket looming on this place, I still cannot believe that we're really going there. Such a grandeur feat should be elebrated-cay, don't you think?"
Senkuu snorted, "You sound like an old man, Gen. What are you getting cringey for?"
Gen pouted, "Geez, I am still in my twenties, just so you know. But, of course I cannot help but to be a little bit touched, dear Senkuu. We were eally-ray starting from scratch, after all. What is the harm of little ol' me getting sentimental for a minute."
"Yeah, yeah, that little trick of yours have granted you a ticket to have a drink together with one of the astronauts in this Stone World. You should be grateful," Senkuu casually responded. His focus had returned to the washing machine in front of him, testing several features before he was sure it is usable by the time Yuzuriha used it.
Gen laughed quietly, his gaze focusing on the red eyed scientist in front of him. He straightened his posture and stood up, arms widening to a dramatic gesture, "Now, this magician shall go to sleep, dear scientist! Don't wanna get wrinkles so early, don't you think so?"
Senkuu just chuckled, hands waving assigning Gen to go back to his cabin, before he realized something else.
He called to Gen again, "by the way, you haven't requested anything new, mentalist."
Gen blinked, "What request, dear Senkuu? If you're talking about cola, then yes, I haven't asked because Francois told me you have stocked them full enough."
Senkuu scratched his head, huffed, "No, I mean like this washing machine, or Minami's camera. Do you want to request one? I can make you stage props, too. I bet it will be easier than the machines if you're talking about old magic shows. Or do you want—"
"Senkuu," Gen stopped him. He shook his head, "I have made my request, dear."
It was Senkuu's turn to blink, "Huh? But there isn't one in the list for you. Or, did I miss yours? Shit, I am sorry."
"Senkuu," Gen stopped him again. He was still smiling, Senkuu noticed, "See on the paper and you will notice I had written it down,"
Senkuu blinked—again, before he scrambled to the desk near them and looked for the papers that he scribbled everyone’s request on. There, indeed, with neat letters that Senkuu swore was not his, a simple sentence was written down.
A toast with Gen.
Senkuu smirked before he laughed, “When did you write this, you phony magician? I swear you never touched this set of papers earlier. And if it’s only a toast, we can have one right now.”
“Indeed, I didn’t. I just wrote it when you rambled a bit earlier,” Gen answered before he started to walk away, basically ignoring Senkuu’s invitation to share a toast tonight. He brushed his shoulder past Senkuu, voice tuning into a quiet whisper, "Consider it your vow to return back home, scientist."
